I have played very little with the button straddle but in my opinion straddling in general can only be +ev when you use what it is buying you which is last action pf. I see so many people straddling utg for $5 here and then never raising. It amounts to a blind min-raise oop. Some of the better players will raise relatively big to take the limped money but not many.

I would assume you need to do the same thing with a button straddle or it just amounts to blind raising in position. Of course there are a lot more variables to consider when the amount of the straddle changes.

Back in the black for the month.📈
+$365 today. +$175 for the month of June.
Tonight was spent at ER. My 10yr old daughter got a little wobbly on the bike and hit my truck goin 10mph. Long story short- wrist in a cast.😂🚑🚲

SideNote: I met a gd friend a few months back at the HSI poker room. This fellow has had a lil rocky past, but has persevered and pushed forward. He has great passion towards poker and his music he writes and performs. He has a few things to learn about the poker game, but the drive and determination is there. Take this drive and determination and multiply by 10...that is how big it is for his music. I love to see people go after their dreams. This kid, June Jo'el, has a hungry heart and great aspirations. His hustle for his music is admirable! He has a solid R&B CD that he gave me a few weeks back. To be honest, the CD far exceeded my expectations. Every track was solid. My new friend doesnt have many resources, and looking for a break. I cant really do much for him, but i am glad to help him get some more exsposure. This is a great video from my new gd friend Kevin-aka June Jo'el http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ahqcigbKNSI
My bad if this is against 2+2 etiquette. 🎶🎤

So here's what's up... Yesterday another gd day +$398, but even more I got to play with the "legend". He is a staple in the poker room, and very comical. His dry humor is witty and on the spot. He cycles through his normal 10 one liners within an orbit. One dealer compared him to those toy string dolls. You know, u pull the string, and it has 5 different phrases that will rotate. But every now and then the "legend" will toss around some new fresh stuff that is priceless. U never know what to expect from "Legend", he does some outlandish things and yesterday was a classic! I'm not sure if I shd b discussing here on form, but it's too gd to pass up. Screw It! #noparameters...
The silver haired 60yr old "Legend" is seated in 9 next to an old 86yr old grumpy half blind guy. After already losing 2 $100 buyns, 86er once again leaves the table to get more chips. The pessimistic 86er leaves his eye glasses on the felt next to the crafty " legend". A big No No!! The "legend" has been known to utilize props left behind from his poker peers. Ive seen the guy wear peoples hats, headphones, and even ladies' BOAS!! So as 86er walks away and the next hand is in the air, I look over to complete shock. I'm in seat 6, directly across from the legend with "not so friendly" 86er's glasses in between us. As action unfolds with the cards, action w "legend" is going to new extremes! The dealer is cutting out the Cbet from seat 2, and the "legend" WET WILLies 86er's glasses right on the lens. I believe I was the only one to see the crafty "Legend" stick his finger in his month and run it on 86er's lens! Wow! "Clever man Legend" says "he is polishing them".
A disgruntled 86er gets back w another hopeless $100 buyn, and puts on his glasses. And within a minute, takes them off, looks at em, and cleans em w his hanky!
"Legend" is taking it to new levels! The guy was n rare form yesterday!!

Today gonna have to clock in later, taking my 10yr old to Ortho Doctor for follow up appt. Afterwards lunch, run some errands, then I will take her to day care and I will play cards. Alnighter?

How does your wife/ gf/ non poker friends feel about your poker? Do they get it? I've emplimented a don't ask don't tell a policy with everyone who doesn't play poker. My fiancé thinks that if I have a big win its time to go shopping and if I lose its time to quit poker for good. She suddenly forgets about the watches, purses and other stuff I just bought her the week before. (Rarely do I spend any of my roll, just the ocasional splurge when I have a super solid month) She just doesn't get it. Same with my friends that can't grasp the fact that I can go over and lose a few hundred or thousand in a day and that it has no effect on me. Obviously the multisession downswings kind of get to me like everyone else.

The legend sounds familiar. It has to be the guy that looks like a mixture between Chuck Norris and Kenny Rogers. Some people he runs the wrong way. I think he is hilarious. Funny story. Gl in today's session!

I touched on this a little bit earlier this year(smwhere around pg 4?) when another 2+2er who had a similar question. I will be glad to elaborate further tho...My gf/life partner(?) she gets it. I been playing poker either full time or part time for 10years. SHe has no clue about the game, but does know it has been profitable for me. It took many years for her to realize it is a skillful game where great players will win long term. She has seen the good and bad w poker, and has been there through some brutal bad beats. The biggest one in 2006(?) where if a king doesn't land on river than i win 1st place $36k instead of 2nd place $19k in the $550buyn Midwest Poker Tournament (my biggest live score to date). Her family, some of my non poker friends, my neighbors, etc all don't get it tho I'm sure. Playing poker for a living is hard to explain to people. Many dont take u serious, and will usually think negatively on the matter. I pretty much give up on having the poker conversation. When people ask what I do for a living, I will tell them I own rental properties and dont even utter the word poker. Even tho I make 3times more playing poker than I do w the rentals. Appreciate the question. Not sure if I was any help. The poker conversation w outsiders is something I still struggle w today. The only things that helps my poker cred is consistent winning. Once I bink a nice score, the conversation might get easier. But for now, I guess my best advice is steer away from the poker talk w non poker people. Or u can try to enlighten them, GL. W solid results they will catch on gradually.

Often other people don't get it. They think its a gamble.

I walk into a casino and if i have to wait for a table i watch the tables not play slots or other -ev. I am there to win not give money to the house.

@h_ven thanks man.

Another gd day to report....It was a good table and I was getting some good cards. Won a nice % of hands played. I got there a little before 10a, and it was perfect timing...The first table of the day just opened up. Surprisingly, the line up was pretty good for the first table of the day. Usually the first table is pretty nitty, but a couple players in the game today made it really gd. It's wild to c what just a couple players can do for the dynamics of the game.
Things were going gd until about 4:00p when I got a text from one of my tenants. His text said he was locked out, and needs a key. So I had to leave the game, and let him in his unit. A lost key, or locked out is a $25 penalty fee, but today I think it cost me a lot more! I hated to leave that table... I left up +$508

During your off time here, if u all want to get some drinks, i'm down. I was wanting to ask u if u had a piece of JTaylor in his bracelet win. The kid has been crushing! What he has done this year has been remarkable.

Clocked in at 10a, bought n for $800, left at 5:30p. +$757. Headed to my tennis match at 6:15p. Played the longest set I ever played, 1hr 45mins. Every game went to deuce except for a couple. One game had 13 deuces! Mind you, it was 103d on the heat index. I was up 2 breaks, at 5-2, and it ended up going to a tiebreak. I battled hard to win the tiebreak. He was definitely the more fit man, so I tried to keep the points short and go for it more. The 2nd set I was getting cramps in my left leg, and had to retire at 3-3. I hate to lose in this manner, but I was pretty much on one leg. This is only the 2nd time ever I had to retire in a tennis match. There are many similarities between tennis and poker. The biggest parallel is both require a headstrong attitude, and fierce grinding. After I was completely drenched of tennis sweat, I get home and quick shower at 9p. Then put the beat down on my 10yr old in best of 3, "Kings in the Corner" card game. After that, I made a deal with her,.. I told her I wd put $30 in her Savings Acct if she massaged my lower left leg, and upper shoulders for 10mins. She did, so tomo morning looks like a bank run before I drop the 2kiddos off at daycare. I'm no welcher, so it will be done! Now, 11pm, chillin and watching Disney Channel w 2 kids that r restless.
I'm beat like a drum... Be back at it tomorrow. Feel blessed...things have been going good. All praise and glory to Him.

@redfishbluefish @seamclean thanks for the nice words. The motivation fuels my drive. Appreciate it.

Change of Plans!
I heard a guy say he cdnt play the event 1 tourney, and he already registered. The tourney is a 4 day event, and he can't make Sunday if he makes it that far. So I offered to buy his seat for $175. He said sure. I made sure it was ok w Pit before I did, and surprisingly it was. So that helps w the juice a bit. So it looks like i will play event 1 $220buy nlhe starting n 10mins.
I lost $250 in 1/2nlhe n 1 hour this morning! Time to regroup, take a walk, and turn it around. Bink time?
