@discin311 Gd advice. I prob she hv turned down the 5/10nl game today. The must move and the main game today were both full of top notch players.

Check this blunder out...Arrived yesterday and thought I had reservations at Ballys. Wrong! I get through the check-in line, and the receptionist can't find my reservation. I looked through my email to c if I can give here a confirmation #, and i see I booked at Harrahs not Ballys. Ugh!!
*Already playing like a donkey before I even hit the felt.
So after getting a cab ride from airport to the wrong hotel, I then had to walk w my rolling suitcase 5 hotels further down the strip to Harrahs.
Your average idiot.

Today I grinded some 2/5/10nl at the Wynn and 5/10nl at Aria.

At the beginning of my sesh I felt pretty gd. I called down a hand real light on 3 streets w a somber pair of 3s vs 3 barrels. That got me settled in and some recognition.
But then I lost a big one w pocket Aces, and also made a wrong river read in another hand.

**Love the phone plugs built into the tables at both the Wynn and Aria.
***The Wynn had a weird straddle rule. Weird to me anyhow because I'm not use to it. On button straddles - the action starts utg, and if there aren't any raises then it skips button, and blinds act, then goes back to button who is last to act. If action changes (meaning a raise) then it goes in order...button then blinds.

Saw a few big games running at Aria w the likes of Brian Rast, Greg Mueller, Jean Bellande sitting in.
Also I was shocked to see Dennis Phillips at Harrahs...WITHOUT THE CARDINALS HAT! #incognito

I noticed at the 5/10nl everyone tipped a dollar, nothing more. *then I got to thinking what games do u think the dealer makes the most money. ??? I think dealer makes the most from recreational players in the 1/2nl and 2/5nl than any other game.
I could tell the 5/10nl game was full of pro just by their $1 tipping...Pros tip small.

I noticed being here in that it's real easy to get lost in the ambiance of Vegas. Every where u walk there is some kind of carnival display/entertainment. My mission was to grind all day, but I kind of got caught up in all the hoopla...I turned into a tourist checking out the sights.
This is suppose to b a business trip, not fun time.
Only grinded 8 hours, and lost $703

Both Wynn and Aria had a tough line up. I was up for the challenge, but I couldn't get anything off the ground today.
Try again tomorrow.

What's the biggest game running at the hotel you're staying at? I crushed at Harrah's, but back then i couldn't find a game bigger than 2/5. Do they possibly have 5/10 and higher with the series being in town?

Did you get a chance to see Rast and Mueller play? That is a weird straddle rule...

I know you are trying to grind bigger and get better but it might not hurt to throw yourself into a softer game after playing for a while to "relax". Back when I would go out to Vegas quarterly, I would play a tougher lineup for X amount of hours and then go to a casino I had never played in and play some $1/$2 and have a couple of beers. I found it to be relaxing and the tells of the softer game are so easy to spot because you have been playing that next level for several hours.

Again, just to have a little relaxation in your tough day for an hour or so. I also suggest getting a full night's rest. There are always games going on so you can find a good game at 6 in the morning or 9 at night. It is always better to go into the games fresh.

Good luck man! You will do great!

Dont test your self with the top players, it's all about bumhunting and for the love of God, have some fun out there go see the sights, get your mind off poker when not playing, tunnel vision out there sucks.

A player of your skills can make $1000-1500 a day in Vegas playing 1/2, 1/3 so unless your goal is to have bigger scores than that, why not stick with softer competition and easy money.

That's just my opinion.

Took a beat at the 2nd to last hand of the day where my 1010<Q10. I open, and Q10 shoved 15bigs. I call. I lose.
That hand put me down to 6 bigs.
Then the last hand of the day...folded to me in the sb. I shove 6bbs w K5off and get called in bb by Jd9d. My K hi wins.
That leaves me w 11bb and a dream for day 2.

Bagged 13,400 coming back tomorrow to 1200bb.

Off to the cash games...

Thanks @boilerref!
No @fluke22 I don't.

Got sm video clips of my Vegas adventure. I'll try to put something together when I get back. Don't expect much from Rayz Production though.

Btw, had a dealer tell a few jokes today in the Colossus.
Don't we all just love the dealer jokes

1). What's the difference between a professional poker player and a large pizza?
Give? ...well a large pizza can feed a family of 4.
2). What's the difference between a poker player and a puppy?
Give? ...well the puppy eventually stops whining.

i gave him a complimentary chuckle.

Sorry you busted. It is impressive that you made the top 15% though. From what I've seen, there were over 24,000 entries and ~3,500 made it to Day 2.

^thanks. I thought first wd b 7 figs, and a lot of people were disappointed w pay outs, but it's hard to please everyone. People get upset w top heavy payouts, and when they flat it out people get upset too, so hard to please all. I personally like the flatter payouts, I think it makes tourneys more profitable to play.
Min cash was $1,180ish I believe.

A must needed morning by the pool. Been grinding poker pretty much nonstop since I arrived last week, so I thought this morning I wd get a gd work out in followed by some sun bathing.
It's really refreshing laying here and unwinding a bit. Soon I after I get my tan on, I will head back to the room, freshen up, and go find a 5/10nl.
Most of the 5/10nl r playing w $20 straddles so that might b more in my wheel house. I'm afraid if I play a 10/20nl then I might face a lot of $40 straddles which doesn't give me a lot of play w my buy in.
Cash games overall r a lot tougher than I expected. I seriously thought there wd b plenty of gd spots, but I think w the WSOP going on that many pros r showing up in many poker rooms all over. The time to play cash here may b when the wsop isn't going on!
Overall, I been playing my A-/B+ game, and down 2k at the moment. Been playing pretty much 5/10/20nl every day. I was down close to 3k before yesterday, and ended up winning +$814. That was a little boost to the confidence and morale.
Gonna feed off that score from yesterday, and try to book another solid today.
Hopefully by the time I leave at the end of the week, I can get back in the black.

I like a widely distributed payout structure as well but feel the WSOP got a little greedy by raking $1.4M out of a ~$11M prize pool.
