In no way am I disagreeing with his sentiment (as my previous posts ITT, which I don't expect you to remember, suggest). I just disagree with the logic that got him there.

I was obv being over the top, those are not the usual forces that kill your edge, but the fact remains we are outgunned when. It comes to day trading

Gotcha. I thought it was serious because a lot of people do believe insider trading and nano seconds are what is keeping them from making good returns. People who think like that are the same people who complain a certain dealer or two always gives them terrible rivers.

Low 30s in the stockz and only a $1k life roll!

Home project hurt the roll big time. But, at least it’s putting value to the home.

Not sure what to do. $1k will last us about a month. If I sell the PVG Scooter that cd give me another month. Do I risk losing the $1k by trying to riu on the felt? Seems like we been in this position before.
All I know is I don’t wanna pull from RH.

Before u say get a job. My job is laying hardwood floors for the next couple months. After that...well...

I think we need to continue trying to tackle this 1000 hr challenge and hope we don’t go bust.

Ray, I respect you. But at some point, you're going to have to face the wife. You're down with the loan $20k. You would need to nearly double your money in the market just to break even. That's hard. It's a lot easier to make $10k from $40k than it is $20k from $30k.

It might be best to take $5k out and run it up on the felt. You can make $10k relatively easily, replace the $5k on RH, and try to run the stock game back up then ..except you'd have a working life roll.

Why do you continuously wreck your poker roll (the only place you actually will make money long term you are just gambling on stocks)? Doing all these home updates right now is incredibly stupid.

The money should be used for grinding and so should all those hours.

One of the better sections in Ace On The River. Still a good read.

Most americans live this way. They don't teach financial responsibility in schools. No savings, paycheck to paycheck and when they get a little $ they squander it. One thing I can say though is he owns it, most people try to blame others or make excuses to what happened

Def shd b a life class in schools. I.E. balancing checkbooks, changing tire, checking oil, money management, understanding loans and ir, baking a F’ing cake, etc.

Halfway finished in room 1 of 4.
One eighth the way down.

Down to $800 and can’t afford to play poker. Wish I cd but can’t risk the loss at this point. Next 2 months will b spent on home project. This will give me time to ponder. The PVG scooter is listed for sale. Asking $900. W the sale, I shd squeak by for a couple of months while we think this over. Sara $100 daycare payment falls this coming Monday. As u recall, I paid these daycare expenses upfront for the year, so Sara pays me that every other week. Any bit helps at this point.

Yes he owns it and is brutally honest and transparent.
I root for him.
But stubbornness is a double edged sword.
And stubborn he is.

You can't afford not to play poker. You have proven that's your most consistent source of income.
You were buying in short and grinding when you had a smaller bankroll. What changed?
If you don't think you can play winning poker with a small bankroll, it's time to take some out of the stock game. Do what you do. Play poker and print money. That's just my opinion.

you seem to be a good handyman, why not lay floors for someone else for a few months, put $20K in your pocket and separate yourself from living paycheck-to-paycheck nonsense

gotta be incredibly stressful living like this

I agree.
Tbh, I haven’t been thinking clearly lately. My mind has been clouted w thick negativity and irrationalities.

All I know atm is the project has to b a main priority right now. Prob take a couple months. Maybe we risk our short roll on sm sessions and if it doesn’t go well we pull from RH.

I’m cool w being the only one who still believes in my stock game. I wanna believe we still double by time we pay off the heloc eoy (and go back to prior arrangements, $700/month). *This is why I don’t wanna pull from RH.

Butterfly, You admit you're thinking irrationally. Your number one priority should be to clear out your irrational thinking, so you can start making better decisions.

It isn't a disaster yet, but it will be if you don't clear your head very soon!

In a week where the yield curve inverted I am thinking about how to protect more than I am growing.

While anything can happen the economic indicators show the tide being against you.

I think you have a better chance getting to even pulling from RH and grinding a lot of hours than you do trading.

Taking two months with 0 income seems like it will make things worse.

Actually, we've seen 6 inverted yield curves since 1973. Time from inversion --> recession was between 6-18 months, averaging 11. Question is whether the market top is in. Unsure, but there will still be great opps to buy dips, sell bounces.
