I think any of these should work for finishing that sentence up

1,000hr mission by eoy (30completed).

U have no idea what losing $40k in a month feels like. The normal things as walking and talking can be hard. It’s stroke like levels. :/
But hey, I said last year we were gonna gamble and that’s what we doing. Took a chance and held a bit too long on a penny. *Omit “a bit” replace w “way”.

Fml it was actually $42k.

Does Robinhood let you short stocks with your margin account ?
I was in the process of setting up the "Gold" account level and it appears I can't go short stocks or crypto!?

Villain: 30something. 1hour of history where I seen him bluff w air for a decent amount once. Also, seen a couple tight folds. Active player w 2 or 3 highest vpip and vpfr at the table.

Early morning, table full of all nighters. Typical thru the night game w straddles and deep stacks.

I $5 straddle otb w $800 stack. First acting covers me, and opens quite large. The ole 9x variety. The $45 dollar bets gets folded to me. Under my cards I see matching tens. This seems defendable to me.

Pot $90 HU
Flop: JJ4
V leads flop for $75.
Not so sure if I’m being too heroic thinking, but I wanna believe I’m beating a lot of his hands. Part of me wishes I had an easy fold otf, but this wasn’t the flop for that. Instead it’s a quick call for me.

Pot $240
Turn : 7 (all 4 suits)
JJ47

V checks after some thought.
This is where I can see a case for either checking behind or betting small $100ish. By betting small $100 ott maybe I go to river showdown cheaper. If decide the check route ott, maybe I face a tough decision facing a bet otr.
I go check mode.

Pot $240
River: 2
JJ472

V bets $200.

it seems unlikely that hes running this line with a PP lower than TT, the question I would be asking myself personally is would he run a representation here with something like AK/Q

it kindof looks like he has an overpair of some kind and hes going for tentative value

i think re-ripping is also a decent option, since hes less likely to have a Jx combo at this point, but on second thought that turn check leaves you pretty capped

I think villain could have 88+ AK/AQ/KQ and some other hands, also a few combos with Js but unlikely IMO, I don't see him leading that flop, or checking the turn.

I'd have to know more about his image. I probably make the call, not loving it, but if he's got QQ, KK, AA, nh

Don't think the turn check is bad at all TBH. We have position, the board is dry, we block whatever T9s/T8s he could have. With us having position, we can get value on the end if he checks back (is he calling turn/river barrel with an overpair?) or we could even raise a river bet with Jx.

We also have to look at the opening size. Doesn't really scream AA or KK, more like a mid PP or AQ/AK. And his bet size on the end looks wonky too. If you're planning on bet/folding, betting for value, villains are betting a smaller amount.

We can jam, or we can call, but never fold. I don't like jamming. I don't think villain has many better hands than ours that are using this sizing throughout the hand. I like calling. The turn check does look deceptively weak if we had a J (I don't think it is, but meh). The preflop size, flop bet size, and river bet size take it for me. These are just large bets, far too large for him to be in the upper portion of his range. He's essentially using a polarizing bet sizing in a spot where he should merge it down a bit, since he almost never has a top of range hand here.

kind of a tough spot. i think he's weighted towards QQ, KK, and maybe some AK, 88-99. I think I'm probably making a crying call here, but wouldn't hate a fold

I think you played it well...I think his ability to bluff plus his inconsistentcy with large bet sizes and the turn check thru warrants a call.... expect to lose a decent amount of the time but I see the call as +ev without any other info
