I know of at least one. She triple barreled bluffed her stack into me with King high, I was really close to folding too. I believe she was a reg (it was a saturday night and some players seemed to know her, around mid 20s - early 30s?)

Other than that I would definitely tend to agree.

As for the hand in question I like the shove. If we did an EV calculation I think we would have to give a high percentage of folding any non-flush, non-straight hand to any reasonable bet and a high percentage of calling a shove with any flush.

^ +1. I love the shove in that spot. Especially after you have been pretty active prior to this hand. Keep it up. Like the posts. You plan on playing any wsop events in Hammond this year? If so, we will have to meet up for a drink.

Yea shove is fine. I think shove>full pot>crai>any bet under pot.

This hand doesnt warrant too much thinking anymore. It didnt warrant a lot of thinking to begin with so don't take my comment too seriously and outthink yourself on this one butterfly.

My last session on Friday was $-57 on 10hrs. Took off Saturday, and played hookie today. I usually play on Sundays, but 2 tennis matches (9am &4:30p) and an Art festival w the family sounded more appealing. I thought I was going to have to buy a $6,000 piece of art at the Art n Speed Park Festival when my daughter bumped into a glass piece hanging on the make shift wall... I swear my 10yr old is like a bull n a china shop...Luckily I was right there by her side to save the exquisite piece of art and my 20 buy-ins!
Tomo i shd b clocking n around noon. I have to wait for the Shampoo Co. to come clean r filthy carpets n the morning. We put our house on the market last week, and trying to get it looking more presentable for showings. I wd lay 3:1 these stains r not coming out of the carpet, but its still worth the sweat. #onetime
Lately, I been thinking about Cincy WSOP, and contemplating heading there for 5 days during the circuit. The trip i was suppose to roll w my gd friend Shane, now will be rolling solo w him n my thoughts. Still haven't booked anything, but the initial plan is to leave on 22nd and return 27. Already got the ok from the boss lady. I'm thinking I will play event 2 for sure, mayb event 3, grind a lot of their lame 1/2 cash games, and play a few $100+ satellites. Hopefully i can win a seat to the big one, and come back for the main event.
Appreciate all of u. Have a great week.
...now time to sneak off to the refrigerator for a midnight snack. Choices are: the legendary triple decker PBJ w Doritos n the middle, or a plain bagel w cream cheese, mayb even something sweet-like a glass of Chocolate ice cream mixed w milk/peanuts/fruit snacks/whip cream, could go old school Cinnamon Toast style, hey an Astro Pop aka Bomb Pop doesn't sound too shabby either, can never go wrong w a bowl of Lucky Charms, but seriously leaning towards eating the last Philly cheese steak in the Philly Kit...(then playing dumb Tomo when the fam asks who ate the last Philly )...

Sic, I have a question for a reg there! Is the 2/5 game just a 300-500 buy in like the Bravo Live app says? I could see that bringing in more businessmen type amateurs.

That is the buy-in.

I would say the weekdays are mostly regs but the bigger action players play plo almost exclusively. However, many times the average stacks will be greater than $1k.

In the evenings like anywhere it is a good mix with a good number of casual players.

The daytime $1/2 will most likely bore you to death with the lack of action at most tables compared to HSI. During the series and especially at night though you will be able to find a decent game although the $2/5 would play more like you're used to (maybe consider ammending the rules of your challenge just because the $1/2 here is so much smaller).

Trust me, I wd love to amend the rules of my challenge and play higher, but I can't do it. I stucked w it this far, so no turning back. I understand the 1/2 cash might b horrible at HCO, but my hands r cuffed to my $40K Challenge guidelines. Though, the 1/3nlhe is within the Challenge guidelines, BUT since their 2/5 is $500max buy i guess that takes the 1/3 possibility outta of picture. They may look at me funny if i ask to start a 1/3 list of interest. gl there @boileref. Hope u have a gd series! I'm really looking forward to my first trip to HCO.
Had my whole table figured out today. +$315

Played 7 hrs 40mins +$248 today. I was stuck $200 early when I lost a big pot. I had QJ, and after 4 limpers call the $5 straddle, I raised to $25 in late position... Button calls, utg calls. 3 see the flop of QJ10. Utg checks, and I bet $50. Button raises all in for $125 total. Button has been very active, and currently on his 3rd buyn (in the game for $900). Utg folds, and I call $75 more. He tables 8 9 for straight. No help on turn or river.
I add on another $200 and now in the game for $500 total. I continue to grind, grind, grind and knew I cd end up in the black if I just stay w my motto...."play every hand the best I can play it". Yeah I know, brilliant strategy!! My table was juicy, and felt I cd capitalize from it if I stay the course. The rest of the sesh I never won any big pots, but did win a lot of decent pots that added up over the length of the session. My brag of today is - My bets were pretty much on point the whole session! I don't think I lost much value in the hands I played. The hand ranges I put people on, I bet accordingly to what I feel they wd call. Most proud of the fact that I squeezed every bit of value w my winning hands.
Tomorrow is another day...

Bad beats will happen... I think if u have a hard understanding of this it helps dealing with the pain bad beats bring. With that said, its still tough to handle the 1,2,3 outers for big cash pots or late tourney runs. When this happens to me in cash (for huge pots), or tourney (late run bust outs), I will sometimes take a couple days off. I feel that I could still play great after a bad beat, but its more of - I rather b somewhere else. I try not to do things that doesn't make me happy. Playing after a bad beat, I'm def not happy, so I leave and not try to not to think of it. It's hard not to think of the bad beat, but I try to run it off, lift weights, tennis, fam activities, etc until i find that zen back n my life. Usually at the end of day 2 I have a strong desire to get back to felt and try to book a win. Winning cures everything!!!
If i experience mini bad beats in cash sessions, then I will just walk it off and regroup. This happens on the daily, and regroup walks help me tremendously to clear my head. Taking breaks to reassess...get a game plan...stay in front of the game.
My biggest advice is dont EVER play if u think u r not playing ur very best! This game has no room for error!! AND PLEASE KNOW Its just poker, and only poker. It could always be a lot worse! Feel blessed for what u have!! Its just a bad beat, and Bad beats build character. sometimes u will c things n a different light because of a bad beats...take pride in that.

Update: where I am as of today on the $40k Challenge. 4 months left of
grinding 1/2 & 1/3. Sept and October r going to b crucial months w many tournaments.
For those just joining the thread. The guidelines r simple: play only 1/2 & 1/3 nlhe the whol year, buyns range from $300 and not to exceed $800 in one day, play an average of 30hrs/wk, and play $5k worth of tournaments. The mission is $40k. Why? I always been curious what a solid "A" player grinding 1/2nlhe could make annually. The poll question attached to this thread ask the same question.
Up to date running cash total as of 8/28/13 at 11am = $25,382. (-$2,375 in Ts = $23,007 overall). The thread, and posts have helped me throughout this challenge. So big ups to you!

@tswpoker I like those purples too. but those bigger chips, $1k pumpkins and $5k greys have a nice weight to them. Its something different. I heard they actually have the plaques. not sure their $ amount...maybe its a $25k plaque.

Extremely crappy table today. I thought about moving tables a couple times during the session, but the other 2 tables didnt look much better. It was sooooooooooooooo nitty! I played about 4 hours, and I didnt want to wait around for the table to get better, so I took my winnings and bounced. +$157. It mostly came from one hand
Here it is...
after 4 limps to me, Im ($280) otb w 7 8 and make it $12. Sb calls (very active, B level player playing $500), and my gd friend N calls in HJ (solid A level player w $250 stack). 3 to The flop of 9 8 5. It gets check to me, I bet $15. Sb folds, and N calls $15. The turn was smthing brickish like a 2. My gd friend N checks again, and I bet $25. My budro N ch/raises me to $60. I called the $35 more in the strongest way possible (didn't want to show my fear). My gut feel then was he had a drawing hand. W both of us day shift regs.. we tango ALOT, and I never remember him ch/raising me n any hands. So i didnt have a lot of info to go on, but the play seemed like a semi bluff. I wanted to call his raise in a posture that it looked like it was an easy call, but actually I was a little worried. The river is noncomplete and brickish, maybe a 3. He leads out $75, and I tank 40 seconds, and I call. He said he missed. 98523
That was my money maker today (like I've said before- sessions usually come down to 2 to 3 crucial hands). I didnt think i was going to be able to squeeze out much from that table, so an hour and half later I rolled.

Its been a great week so far...+$720 on the week. Gonna show up tomo, and then get ready for my fantasy ftball online draft at 8pm. Shd b a gd ff league this year w a mix of poker players and dealers.
