I've been deliberating for a few weeks now about making this thread. I have decided to create it to mainly log my sessions, and possibly gain some advice from 2p2ers in this particular format along the way. I feel this will benefit my game.

A little background about myself:

Im 31 years old from the UK. I used to be a long time poster on 2p2 under a different screen name. Spent so long away from the forums that when i attempted to sign back in again, id forgot all my details. So decided to start a fresh.

Back in the day (2010-12) i used to grind micro MTT's with some success. I had a tonne more time on my hands back then. Worked short hours a week. Lived with parents. Small amount of responsibilities, low outgoings.

Since 2013 ive managed to get a GF (not sure how). Had a couple kids, got a house, car, more bills, became an adult etc etc. Meaning that time to sit in my pants all day grinding MTT's became non existent and i slowly moved away from the game.

Recently i have been drawn back in, and rediscovered my "love" for the game. So the first challenge was picking a game format. Large field MTT's have always been my go to. So naturally i decided to start there. With some success. Had a +$ first month. But i found that i wasn't getting the volume in. Also i was playing post 9pm on a Friday and Saturday night. Sometimes until 4/5am the next morning. Anyone with with young kids knows how unsustainable that is.

So i decided to move towards STT's. Playing $3 9 man turbo's. Again hit volume issues. Although unlike MTT's i could play STT's on a week night. My window to play was maybe 8pm till 10:30pm. So i could get a few in but not as many as i would like.

I played cash games for abit, but i just spew too hard in.

So, Ive moved towards Spin and Go's. This format fits my lifestyle perfectly in terms of the amount of volume im happy with. Im also pretty confident that i have an edge in this game at the micro's. I feel my short handed game is fairly good, push/fold etc. I am currently playing $1 spins. (With the odd MTT when i have time)

I understand that the variance in this format is high, so im sticking to a strict BRM . 80-100BI.

Im currently without a Laptop so im playing on an ipad. Making any multi tabling or downloading of software difficult. Also sharing HH's, but that is something i will be looking at changing.

I will be playing and updating daily. Probably with thoughts of how i played and BR updates. Until the laptop issue is sorted.

Any Advice/Flaming is happily welcomed.

Great to see someone else who's just starting off with spins. I've also recently moved around formats a bit and decided to stick with spins, though I am starting at a smaller bankroll because I don't mind if things take a little while to pick up, I just see it as practise for when I'm rolled for $1s, working on my cEV.

Ive played 15 today. Break even atm. Won 5 lost 10. Went on a 8 game losing streak. Not playing particularly badly just seemed to lose every flip, or ran into top 5% (thats being kind) of villains range.

Luckily i snapped the losing streak with back to back wins one a 4x and a the other a 6x so that was nice.

The ones im winning i seem to need to get villain crushed to win an all in.

Looking for some nice multipliers and some run good for the rest i play today.

Weird day. Played 39 games in all. Ran pretty badly most of the time. Got to the point where i just knew it was coming, over pair vs pair, big ace vs smaller ace type hands.

Luckily i ran pretty ok in the 4x and 6x games (lost a 10x KK vs 99 AIPF)

Managed a 1bi win for the day. Not great but im happy considering how badly i ran.

Going to probably spend some time tommorow studying spin and go ranges and hopefully put in more than 39 games.

Another weird session. Got 49 games in today. Ended just under 1BI down.

At one point, around halfway through the session i was up around 10BI's. I remember thinking to myself. Im not actually running too bad here. Then bam went on a 10 game losing streak and lost my head abit. Combination of some horrendous run bad and myself steaming a little. Didnt result well.

Ran paticularly bad in any 4+ multiplier games, which is tough in this format.

Honest opinion i didnt play well today. Pre flop i did ok, but i wasted way too many chips calling down with TP on wet boards, chasing draws, floating and so on. Just basically getting too tricky.

I spent abit of time trying some new stuff. Adjusted some ranges slightly aswell as when and frequency of c-bets.

Im no where near decent in this format yet. so any advice/guidance would he appreciated. My volume will probably go down tommorow as its saturday and my weekends are generally full on.

Played 32 games today. So smallest amount of volume so far in the 3 days that i started this thread. Potentially could be even less volume tommorow. Been invited bowling with friends, and im also going to watch the Man Utd vs Arsenal game.

Started the day with a 7 game losing streak. Ran ok ish once i broke that. Didnt see many 4× + multipliers today. Would say 90% of the games were 2x.

100 games total in the 3 days ive been playing $1 spins. Im happy with the volume. Not overly excited about $ made, but if i have to grind it up slowly, aswell as learning the format alongside on the way. Im cool with that.

Will do man. Will be looking at investing in a decent laptop when i get a few life costs out of the way. GF wants a brand new sofa (3k's worth), and need to pay out for a few other things.

Played 7 today. Dropped 6 BI's. Shouldn't have really played at all. The United result put me in a negative mindset and i had a tonne of distractions going on round the house. I think i might make Sunday my day off from Spins.

Hopefully regain some form and focus tommorow.

Played around 42 games so far today, and so far ive been getting smashed. Down 14 Bi's so far. Everything that could have gone wrong has.

You know that feeling when you get it in with QQ vs AK. Well im getting that feeling everytime im AIPF with JJ vs AJ, AK vs KQ, AA vs any pair. Its brutal.

Im trying to remain positive. Admittedly ive underestimated the variance in these games. Il probably play some more today but gonna set my self a stop loss of 20bi's. Finding myself forcing the issue and playing poorly.

Played about 10 more games since the last post. Continued to get soul crushed. Calling it a night.

Session started well today. I evaluated how i played yesterday and i came to the conclusion that i was tilt regging like a spaz. Rather than take a 10min break i was just jumping into a game straight away.

The mental aspect of this format is massive imo. I paticularly get tilted when i lose a 6x or a 4x then go straight into a 2x game. This is intensified if a bad beat, or if i had a huge chip lead HU in the 6 or 4x prior.

Anyways. Played 23 games today. Actually started well. Think i won 7 out of the 1st 10 i played. Then came the obligatory losing stretch. Couldnt win a flip. Started insta tilt regging. Playing bad. All the hindsight i forsaw from yesterday reared its head.

From tommorow. When i lose a spin and go im going to sit out for at least 10 minutes till i fire the next. If i win i obv keep rolling.

Another losing session but not as bad as yesterday. So some positive i guess.

Only managed 18 games today. Spent some time with my family for my Nans 75th birthday. Then caught the Bayern vs Liverpool game.

Id hate to use this a thread to bemoan bad beats etc. I obv know that losing a flip in a $1 spin isnt really the upper echelons of bad luck, but it really feels like i cant catch a break at the moment.

I will stay positive, what i may lack in natural poker ability i make up for in persistance.

One thing i have discovered and its probably stating the obvious but it really is massive to run good in the 4x and 6x games. For bankroll reasons obv but for also in my case, mental state.

Not expecting to play a tonne tommorow. My GF goes away this Friday for 4 days. So will going to spend some time with her before she leaves.

I feel like im playing better than the majority of players i come in contact with, but with the short stack hyper nature of spins. Variance is evening the playing field.

Just need to stay positive and keep learning. Got abit of free time over the weekend so going to try and squeeze a few mtt's in.

Completely forgot to update the thread yesterday.

Didnt play a great deal. Spent some time with friends. Returned home late, decided to late reg the Hot $4.40 as i didnt fancy staying up super late. Didnt bink it. 3bet shoved 9bb with 33, villian called with A5. A on the river GG.

Decided today to take a risk and set aside 5Bi's for the 3$ spins. I figured the skill level isnt going to be much different from the 1$. Also hoping that i ran abit better than i have been at the 1$. Which i subsequently did.

Off to work in around 1hr for 4hours. Probably going to either play some MTT's tonight or carry on with the $3 spins.

I'm personally studying/playing the format as you are, started from 1€ Spins and almost got to play the 2€ Spins, but unfortunately had two bad sessions where I lost around 20bi :/

I want to suggest you to dedicate some of those "poker hours" into working on your mindset. As you said, this game has crazy variance. This doesn't mean its not beatable because with little researches you'll find a lot of players living off Spins. But when we start tilting, spazing or whatever, we are just taking away every chance to make a profit in this format.

If you feel bad/tilt, just try to think that you are not playing 8h/day and before judging the results, you need a much bigger volume.
