Hello everyone,

This is my first post here so it will be long
I am honoured to be a member of this community. A little bit about myself:

I am a 1st-year PhD student in the faculty of pharmaceutical sciences at The University of British Columbia. I have a scholarship that is worth $35,000 annually plus all tuition fees for 3 years. I have been a gamer since childhood, excelling in RPG and RTS games. I am known on Pokerstars as Takiowns. I have started this year with a clear motivation to make money from poker as a side income. And what do I know, I am supernova today with more than 50K bankroll at the moment.

Now here's the important stuff. These last three months I have final tabled a lot of "special" tournaments on pokerstars, big 109, big 162, big 22, big 27.5, big 55 and the Sunday Million on June 14th where I busted AA vs AK pre for 40BB. Now, that's fine, **** happens, however, I have busted all other big tournaments in similar fashion at 9th, 8th or 7th place.

Now, why am I posting this? The main reason is my lack of interest to play this game anymore. I have started to lose hope and I am really bored from the game. I need someone to challenge me to win certain tournaments this weekend. On one hand, I feel like I miss a lot of value by not playing poker on weekends. On the other hand, I feel like I am going to bust at 9th or 8th again by bad luck again. I have taken many stats courses and I know as I stand today, in a bill-shaped curve, my luck stands at the -95% after these beats in final tables.

I would appreciate a pro's opinion on this because I know I am not among the best pokers players online by a long shot. How do you motivate yourself to win big? I feel like my life bankroll is fine for me and I am happy with it. I don't feel like the extra money would bring me that much happiness. I am satisfied with how much I won this year. How do I motivate myself to win more? What am I gonna do with the extra money? Buy a Tesla car or a house? And then what? I seem to lack a clear purpose for winning money.

Sorry for the long post. Any kind words of advice would be appreciated.

Best of luck,

Gl dude, just keep playing, i'm sure you have made a bit even from those 8-9th places etc, i suggest you have something like....buy a house or similar as a goal, and transfer poker winnings to a seperate account to save for that and have a target monthly etc u want to transfer. I too feel its hard to motivate to win sometimes especially when you don't know what to spend it on!

Thank you everyone. I won 20K last week in Bigger 109 for 3rd place.

Now I am in the relaxed, content zone. I wish I could just always have hunger for more wins.
