That's irrelevant in this particular hand, op goes broke either way. 50bb deep it never matters because op is getting it in on the flop.

Not trying to be a negative nancy but faith is all you will have left. I hope you are buying in 115 per buy in instead of 345 all at once.

Re: South Florida Grinder $0 to $100k

I'll have more hands after this session to discuss. This 50bb hand is irrelevant. I'm never folding here, I'd rather get max value from all players, triple up (almost). If they suckout/have aces so be it.

Surely you are planning on dividing your 400 into two 200$ buy ins?

I like the confidence.

Btw hand 5- gotta bet at least half pot for value. No reason you should ever be behind there. If you leave value on the table it will take an eternity to build a roll.

You do know that two 200$ buy ins cuts down on the variance right? If you're playing super nitty four 100$ buy ins may be even better. That's the whole point of a bankroll, having more buy ins than you need.

In all the hands above 200$ would have gotten the same results.

I would be raising more preflop in general. Hands #1 and #5 I wouldve raised to $15 preflop.

Bet bigger on the river in hand #5.

Hand #3..fold preflop. KJ sucks to be calling a raise with. If its suited I might call but Im not getting felted with TP.

In hand #5 is bu hand a typo, or did he really check turn w/2 pr and then call a tiny river bet w/Aces full?

Tyler, I won't say exactly who I am in this forum, but I've played a number of sessions with you. I just don't quite understand how you're busto if you've made $15K in the past 4 months. I'm assuming you had 'at least' a few grand to start with also. Do you have high living expenses? You vaguely mentioned some drunken debauchery...did you really lose that much while drunk?

Started with $300 in January, ran it up to 10k by feb, went down to 6k mid feb, went back up to 10k right before Vegas (late feb), blew 8000 in vegas. Came home with 2k, ran it up to 8k. Paid off Vegas debt of 2k. Have 6k at this point. Ran bad/played a bit too loose/spewy. Ran down to 2k back to 6k, and then went from 6k -> 2k @ 2/5, and 2k -> 0 at 1/2...

The most liquid cash I had on me at one point was 10,500.

I didn't start this with some huge bankroll... started from the literal bottom...

It's embarrassing, byt how else will I learn if I don't humiliate myself publicly?

BTW everyone sorry for the weak/bad posts by me. I have been away from my computer for the past few days so been updating on my phone which is a pain the arse sometimes.

I'm headed to hardrock soon... grinding time

Re: South Florida Grinder $0 to $100k

I think the story of how 8k gets blown is needed for us all. And it will probably help you get it out there so you don't do it again. I saw you won in poker in Vegas by your pictures IIRC so was it roulette or blackjack or the infamous hookers and blow ??? I'm hoping for the latter for a good story

Re: South Florida Grinder $0 to $100k

Well that makes a lot more sense, now that I know you started with no bankroll.

You say you blew $8K in Vegas. I'm guessing that is mostly expenses you're talking about, and not losses at the tables?

A lot of people who read your posts are gonna just trash you for being so irresponsible. They're not wrong...But at the same time, there's no changing what you've done. All you can do is learn from it, and move on.

It takes a ton of discipline to build a bankroll from scratch, especially if you have any kind of living expenses. You said yours are pretty low, so I'm guessing you live at home. Even still, most single guys our age spend at least $1000 or $1500 a month, in addition to rent and utilities.

I worked 80 hour weeks at a crappy job for several months to build up $2K in savings, which I used to start playing 1/3 with ($2K is not nearly enough, obv). I managed to run good early, but I was also extremely disciplined when it comes to bankroll management, and life expenses, and even then, it took me quite a while to get where I am today (Very comfortable roll for 2/5 and 5/10, even though I usually just play 2/5 bc it's so much softer)

You're plan right now is not even a plan. Trying to turn a few hundred dollars into a feasible bankroll is almost never gonna happen. You're banking on running extremely hot early on, and then also staying disciplined as you continue to make money. Your prior track record suggests that will not work out.

In my experience playing with you, you definitely seemed pretty solid and patient (definitely some leaks, but most of the time I was at the table with you, I considered you the most solid villain at the table). If you believe in your ability as a poker player (as you should) then set yourself up for success. How do you do that? Well, the first step, and it's a step you won't like to hear, but you should get yourself a job. You said you have experience in the service/hospitality industry. If you can find yourself a job where you're making at least $15 an hour, that would be a tremendous benefit. It is so helpful having a guaranteed cash flow when you're starting out. You can pay bills with it (instead of dipping into your already anorexic bankroll), and the excess can be used to further pad your roll. Having that guaranteed money is also going to take a bit of stress away at poker. You're just not going to be maximizing your profitability when you're that worried about the money. A huge part of poker is finding profit in marginal spots, but when you're that low on funds, you're going to avoid those spots, which makes 'running it up' even less likely.

Then, if you do those things, and you see your roll start to grow to $3K, $5K, $10K, you gotta stay disciplined. Expensive trips to Vegas are counterproductive to a guy who is trying to make it in poker. Most of my poker colleagues joke that I'm a pretty big life nit, but I honestly didn't even start playing 2/5 until I had about $30K. Now, keep in mind, I live on my own, so I have rent and all that stuff to pay, but still, I took my time, and worked my way up slower than most..slower, but I was never even close to being in a position to go busto. Now, it's a little different in SoFla because the 1/2 is really undesirable, do to all the short stacking and the high rake...Having said that, I would still say you should probably stay at 1/2 until you get to $10K, and then go ahead and move up to 2/5 (drop down to 1/2 again if you dip below $7 or $8K). If you do those things, and keep your spending/life leaks in check, you can definitely make it.

Good luck, man

PS, those are very general bankroll recommendations. If you have life expenses that are more than just food, phone, car, I would honestly double those amounts, but I'm just assuming you live at home and can get by on just a few hundo/month if you absolutely have to

Re: South Florida Grinder $0 to $100k

If you ran 300$ up to 10k from January to February that is quite an epic run, it is also very unlikely to happen again.

I for one am rooting for you though. I may make a trip to south Florida soon. If I do I will definitely hit you up. Good luck.

Where would you recommend staying close to the hard rock?

You can stay with me if you like. We have a trailer in our backyard, which is fully furnished, with kitchen, wifi, tv, shower, two sinks, ac.. it's nice, clean and comfy... Just let me know when you're coming and we will figure the details out. I hope you do. Would be ur cheapest option.
