Last year I attempted to play $2/5 NL in South Florida with a $25k roll, I lost it.

I took the year off to study poker and play online to dial in the skills. I've been playing poker since 2003 (freshman in college). I have taken the dive, started at $1/2 NL live and have since moved up to $2/5 NL live. I'm on my 4th week of grinding and have a $7000 roll at the moment. I blog @ tbonepoker.blogspot.com.

My posts from last year were almost comical how noob I was, but you gotta start/learn from somewhere. Last year, I learned I sucked and needed to take a drastic measure if I wanted this to ever work out and be a viable source of income. It is my only source of income at the moment.

I'm probably just going to copy/paste my blog posts to this forum. My purpose is to entertain, practice my writing skills, and help others to become a better poker player. All the best out there guys n gals and good luck at the tables, -Tyler

I've been crazy sick all week. That's why I haven't updated, no damn energy! Finally, I'm feeling a bit more normal. My buddy got me a Zpak, which saved my life. Otherwise, I would have been bed ridden for a week. I'm still coughing up aliens and ****, but whatever, mucus is coming out... That has to be a good thing, right?

Poker... What a game, eh?
.

I had a variance filled week. It was up and down. The beginning of the week went great and I had some solid winning days, but....

What sticks out most is yesterday. I had a great beginning of the day. I got to Hardrock around 12PM and went right to the poker room. I signed up for $2/5 and there were like 8 people ahead of me. I decided to go stroll through the casino while I waited and threw $20 into a slot machine. First spin I won $200. I cashed it out and headed back to the poker room. I got my $2/5 seat, great table. I got JJ, a kid tried to bluff me on a 9 high board, I called, hit a set on the turn, and took the pot down. I was up like $700 in about an hour, plus the $200 from the slots. I then took another $20 to the slots and won $140. Crazy. So, then my buddy, John, wanted to go light some candles at his house, so we did that. I should have just picked my chips up, but I didn't. We were gone about 45 minutes. I got back and one of the biggest donkeys in the room sat at my table. So I got QKo UTG. I raised to $25. She calls from the BB, everyone else folded. Flop came KJ3. She rips $100. I call, because I know she's barreling every turn, no matter what she has. turn is a 4, and it brings another spade... She goes 'all-in' for $450. I know 100% I have her beat at this point. I've seen her do stuff like this before and it's to get people to fold. She's not doing this with the nuts, ever. I pretty much snap called the $450. River is a 9... She flips over QTo for a straight. It was so damn gross, but she got there. Then a few hands later I pick up KK and it gets cracked by 22 all in preflop, he was a short stack and straddled, I raised to $60 with KK, 3 people called, he jammed for like $350... I re-jammed for $600 and he hit a 2 on the flop. I topped up to $600. I then got AKo, I straddled on the button. CO, who is a weak player, bets $45, I raise to $160, he jams 600, I call. He has QQ and hits a Q on the flop. I'm never folding in this spot to this player. He is capable of doing that with 56s. So, basically, everything I made earlier at this point was lost. It was like a $1800 swing day, pretty ****ty.

Today was decent. I made about $300. Had some decent spots, but couldn't get much going. Bunch of small pots and steals.

I had a few expenses this week I had to pull out from my bankroll. The roll took a small hit, but we are still fine. Bankroll at the moment is $6000.

Looking forward to the weekend and this coming up week. I have to start throwing in some gym time, it's about time to start doing that more often. Been slacking on the phsyical part of life, and it's super important that I get that into my routine. So that's something I'll be working on in the next few weeks. Good luck at the tables & life!

tbonepoker.blogspot.com for pictures and such...

Went over to my buddy, Johns house for some football and grilling. We hit up Publix, got some filets, chicken wings, and hot dogs. We grilled it all up and it was killer. We chilled and watched the Bronco's and Patriots game. After all that, I headed over to Hardrock for a quick session. I had to go let my dog out, she was home all day. So anyway, I thought I'd play for a few hours. About the 5th hand in I picked up AKo in MP. I raised to $20 and got 5 people to the flop. Flop was Ks8d9d - It checked to me, I lead out for $45. Button called and BB check raised to $250. I tanked for a few minutes, deciding what to do. I just got to the table, but this guy had about $2000 infront of him and seemed like a gambler. I wasn't worried about the initial caller of my bet, as I thought he would fold to any type of raise or would even fold right now to this raise from this guy. So, I thought this guy was capable of check raising with a flush draw. I decided to push 'all-in' for $550. The initial caller, CALLED, and so did the BB. I was thinking, "no way I am good here".... Well turn came a Ts and river 9c. They both flipped over T7d and JKd... They both were on hugeee draws!!! I took it down! A triple up baby! In less than an hour. I played about an hour longer and picked up another $500 or so. I was running pretty hot. I threw $20 in a slot machine on the way out. On my last 'bull****' .40c spin, I hit for $400!!! Lol. I immediately cashed out and went home. What a sick little heater day!

Good luck out there guys and gals!

Monday -- Holy ****...

All I can say is, "holy ****!", It's really quite amazing the sessions I have been pulling off lately. I have been really doing amazing the past 7 sessions / 15 hours. I'm so happy with my overall game and how I am applying everything I have learned in the past to the present. It's really showing in my results. I am beyond grateful right now and know how brutal this game can and will be. Last year, I experienced some of the most brutal beats I've ever witnessed. I'm not making excuses, I was not a good player last year. I sucked then. It's nice to run decently well right now to kind of make up for all that run bad last year. I have had my fair share of beats lately, but things have been going more positive than negative.

Today was no different, I was on a roll amigo. I got to Hardrock around 3PM. I was coming off a +$1426 day yesterday, so I was definitely feeling pretty confident going into today. I got to a good table and was able to get into some good spots. I was able to profit $466 for this 3-hour session. I took a break and went over to my buddy, John's. We chilled, talked some cards and shot the ****. I decided that I wanted to go back to Hardrock and play another session before I called it a day. I got back to Hardrock around 11PM and signed up for $2/5, there was a seat available. I took it. I made $86 and the table broke, whatever, $86, I'll take it...

I got to a new table and this dude, who is a regular and arguably one of the best $2/5 players in S.Fl. I'm not going to mention his name right now, but we will call him Scooter. Anyway, bring it on... So, I lost a hand before this hand I'm about to tell you about and lost about $200. No big deal, I kind of got coolered. I had about $500 to start this hand and picked up QJs on the button. Scooter in MP, raised to 25. CO calls and I call and BB calls. Flop AsTs3h --- sick...

I have a straight flush, gutshot to the Royal.... Cool, I like my hand. So, it checks to me, I bet $35. He calls, the rest fold. Turn is a 6h. He checks, I bet $55, he check raises to $175. I don't hesitate at all and say, "I'm all-in". He kind of has this like, 'oh, ****' look on his face. Well, he ends up tanking for about 5 minutes, before finally 'calling'. I'm like, 'whatever', let's see the river... Ks.... Wow, I got a Royal Flush!! He was quite pissed to say the least! "Why are you laughing?", He says with some aggressive tone. I told him, "Because I just got a Royal Flush, and I've never gotten one playing in a casino, and I just sucked out, and I think it's really cool and a little funny at the same time"... Ya, I kind of fired off some shots at him, bang bang bro!

Royal Flush, Sorry for the poor image quality, was kind of excited!

I got $500 for the high hand and won $500 off of him. $1000 profit, sick. I played for about 30 minutes longer to not seem like an *******. I got into another real good spot about 15 minutes after the Royal Flush.

Thats my Royal Flush... First one at a casino... Sweeeet!

Someone straddled. I came in and called $10 with 99 in MP1. The straddler raised to $45. I called, it was just him and I. Flop came 7sJs9h.... Gin baby... I check, he bets $55... I check raise to $160. He raises to $500. I jam for $725. He calls. Turn Jx, River brick.... I boat up... Ship it baby!!! He mucks.

I lost like $250 back in about 5 hands and then I packed my stuff up and took off for home! I had a profit of $1147 for this 3-hour session... and a $1700ish profit day. So sick?!?!

These are my stats since getting this tracking app... 15 hours in... Sick?
I'm humbled right now and proud of myself for picking my spots well. I'm not over-playing the game and burning myself out. I'm taking calculated risks at tables that I believe I have a good chance at making money on. If I find myself not content with my table, I move or quit, SIMPLE.

Bankroll is at $8800. I'm almost to a stack of High Society. I'm almost at my goal, It feels good friends, it really does. Good luck out there, I'll be back at the tables tomorrow to maybe finish this goal out. Peace guys and gals.

High Society -- Goal Reached!

I set a goal to reach a $10,000 bankroll. I accomplished it yesterday and I'm so stoked. Poker has been a struggle for me for a long time and to see my bankroll hit the 5 digit mark is extraordinary. It's not so much the money, but the fact that I actually did something I set out to do. I did it much quicker than I thought, which is just icing on the cake.

January has been a crazy good month for me and I have successfully profited $10,000. I have been playing extremely well and also running well. All I know is my game has never been better. I feel myself playing better and better as my bankroll grows, which is natural. I know I'm on a heater and it would be pretty unreal to keep up this win rate. I'm making over $200 an hour for the past 30 hours. Not a bad job, eh?! For you hardcores out there, I'll start posting hands that are interesting. I have got to make some notes, been slacking on the notes lately.

Going to keep this update short and sweet. I made the goal. The next goal is $15,000 at $2/5 NL, considering I made about $500 today, we are already well on our way there. Thanks for reading everyone. I'll put more effort into my posts so they are a bit more entertaining in the future. Peace and good luck at the tables guys n gals!

February So Far...
Hola Amigo's!

I'm back to 100% health. Feel so, so much better. Thank you John and John's Dad (Doctor) for the Z-pac. **** saved my life man.

Poker.... **** YES! (excuse my french, but I'm on a ****ing massive heater and feel '****' expresses my enthusiasm accurately) hehehe!

I've been playing every day since my last update. I believe I had one losing session where I lost a $600 buy-in. For that session, I found myself running into monsters a lot of the time. Nothing I could really do, although I was quite pleased I didn't lose a lot more. Losing is getting less and less painful, thank God. It's like scratching my knee, or bumping my elbow on something. It stings for a second, then it quickly goes away and I forget about it. I'm also getting much better at table selecting. I'm not TOO particular on my table, but I'm massively aware of all the player types at my table. I'm getting a lot more consistent all across the board. It's super exciting for me to see positive results! Speaking of results, I'll be posting my results below for you all to look at. It's so cool for me to see my game improving.

These are my stats since I began record keeping. *COUGH $8357 COUGH* (pictures on blog, sorry I don't know how to post pictures here!)

This just more details and breakdowns... (pictures on blog)

This is my session to money graph!!! So happy with this! This train has to keep going! (pictures on blog)

I'm happy with my time played. I'm averaging 50 hours a week of play time. Not too bad. I don't know how much more I could fit in right now. 5 days a week I play about 5-6 hours a day, then the other two days (Sunday-Monday) I can play 24 hours. January was obviously a sick month. Half the stats aren't even there, maybe even more than half. February 1st, was my losing day... Figures! But that little losing streak only lasted one session and I went right back to owning it.

Today was a good day and I profited around $500. I played like a beast. It seems I'm gaining some respect from the regulars also. It's kind of nice to be respected for my play. I'm also extremely nice and kind to everyone I come across. I'm so happy in general. I'm doing what I love to do. I'm around some degens at times, but whatever... It's poker baby!

I was shooting a few texts back and forth between my Dad and I and he said something I really took a lot out of. He said, "Ownage son. You got the ball. Protect, run, make small gains, don't fumble, and realize it's a game. But for some, it's a life (for you, Tom Brady and other's it's a 'lifestyle'. Not many can do it. But this is something clearly that you can master." I read that and just stood there for a few minutes. It's true. It's a game, but this game is something I can master and become one of the greats. It's no different than other games like basketball, football, tennis, esports, etc. Some people play the game, some master it, some get owned, some play for money, some play for pleasure, etc. I just thought it was cool.... Passing it along.

I played a satellite to this 'escalator' series coming up at Hardrock. I bubbled the damn thing. $850 bubble... ****. Top 6 paid out. Whatever.

There's a ton of great tournaments coming up. I want to play some of them. I have an idea of putting some packages together and selling pieces of myself. For example, I come up with a tournament schedule of upcoming tournaments. I then add the tournament buy-ins together, for instance, lets say the total buy-in amount is $2500. If you wanted to buy 10% of me it would cost $250. I don't think I'll put any mark-up on it because it would be my first time selling shares for live tournaments. I used to be backed online back in the day, not that it matters... Then lets say I win $50,000 you would get $5000 back or 10%. It's a very common thing to do in the poker tournament world. So stay tuned for my package, if you would like to buy some shares of me, I'll explain how-to soon. I'm excited! The World Poker Tour is coming to Hardrock in April, stoked! How cool would it be to take one of these events down in my backyard?

After these tournaments here, if I do decent, I'm going to put a WSOP (World Series of Poker) package together for June. VEGAS BABY!!!! It would be my first WSOP. I can only imagine how cool it would be to be able to attend this for the month. It would be a dream come true, finally! But lets take it in baby steps. I need to stay focused and continue on grinding and growing my bankroll. Easy Tyler!!!!

Not only am I owning the poker table. I'm owning in life. I'm being healthy. Treating my body right. Doing the right thing. Being kind to others. Having respect for myself and others. Having a healthy mind and clear conscious. I'm being a good person. I have learned from my past, put it behind me, and am out to ****ing own it. I tossed ALL my bad habits out the window. GONE.

All I know is... JUST HOW LUCKY I AM.

Good luck out there guys and gals. I'll be at the Hardrock, grinding!

Just a quick note -

When you're ready to sell that package check out the 2p2 marketplace to do so. Make sure you don't use this thread to do that - thanks

Been grinding the $2/5 No Limit streets hard since my last update. I've been playing every day, with mixed results. My biggest downswing so far was $2,000 without a winning session. But since the $2K downswing, I've recovered a significant portion of it. I hit a pretty bad run of cards and a few very questionable and bad plays on my part. I played the hands fine up until the rivers, but both my major screw up's were from players chasing a flush or chasing in general, then them GETTING THERE, and me paying them off big time. In both instances, I had a big hand (set) and lost to rivered flushes. The short term variance hurts. Ya... It does hurt. But, I know it's part of the game and is going to happen many, many more times. That's kind of the sick thing about poker, you're going to give back money... it's inevitable. It's just a matter of time. But the whole goal is just to make better decisions than my opponents make in similar spots. ****... sometimes, you have to give away money to encourage action later on in a session, but this is not ideal, obviously!lawlz...

Anyway...

February has been up and down in terms of profit. I'm still in the green, but not by much anymore, maybe a thousand +/- a few hundo. I was up to $2700 profit for Feb a few days ago, but that is no longer the case. Gotta keep grinding! I'll post graphs next update. We don't need them every update.. Get's a little silly looking at graphs every time I post.

I'm sorry for the lack of specific hand updates though. I need to start posting them. I will in the future. I must, MUST get better at note taking at the tables. I speak specifics hands with my small group of poker friends, but that's about it. I need to get an outside view from you guys sometime.

What else...

I have some big plans coming up with my friend John. He has invited me to do something AWESOME, which I'm going to keep a SECRET, for now! I don't really know why I'm even mentioning it if I'm not going to spill the beans yet, but I'll give you all a small sweat. All I'm going to say, is it's something I have been wanting to do since I've started playing cards. He has given me every reason to attend, and not one good reason not to... soooooo.... I'm about 99.9% sure I'm in, so stay tuned for that update. I CANT WAIT!!!! Hurry up clock!

Hmmmm...

I've been playing well. I'm happy with my play, it's consistent. I'm making good reads and bets, most of the time. I am always trying to improve and pick apart people's games. It's important for me to listen to others speak about poker, even if they are a total fish. I want to learn those perspectives also.

I'm going to be spending a lot of time this week grinding. I really want to have a great February, as I'm sure you all do!! Good luck out there!
