Do you play the croc poker league, I played once at bankstown, had a nice stack, got kicked out break by security though

Might go hit up the star since working close by in the next few weeks if anyone wants to catch up

Pretty decent results for mainly grinding the pub poker league - well in! I'm subbing this for sure.

Oh boy - there's a very good chance I've played you then, and by "played", I mean completely mucked around and given you chips cos it's pub poker.

What did you do to get kicked out a pub poker game!? Never played the Croc league, I don't think they have venues in north Sydney. You play cash or tournaments at the Star? How's your PGC going btw?

Haha, I'm very curious now. I mainly play Kings, what about you? I was wondering whether any of the regs I play know what 2+2 is. I am friendly with a bunch of kids in their early twenties some of who are OK players, all of them very enthousiastic and hooked on live/online poker, but they had never heard of Sharkscope for example.

About my results, to be honest, I don't really know, playing basically live 30-man deep hypers, how much volume I need to say anything about my true winrate. I have 150% ROI, over a lol-sample in online terms (80 games), but I've been very consistent and players are so bad it really feels sustainable. But who knows, maybe a prolonged downswing is just around the corner.

Intoxication, was by the security upstairs
Played cash at star in the past, working full time now so not much poker for me lately looking forward to get my online grind on this weekend though.

Might give some star mtts a shot in the future though

Not yet at least, just finished 2nd in the $20 Friday game for $155. Not really any hands of note, but had a fun time with the other regs. HU was a bit frustrating getting dealt trash throughout so was relieved to finally get a shoving hand in the form of Q8, but no luck vs. K5.

Going to play a solid session online tomorrow, looking forward to it!

I play very occasionally at NPL and even more infrequently at APL - most my play is just online. I wouldn't mind checking out this kings league though - I've never even heard of it.

From my experience I'd say like 0.05% of players at a pub poker game on any night would be 2p2ers. I'm certainly yet to meet one.

I'm playing a session online atm and had the weirdest thing happen just now. 3-handed in $7.5 WCOOP sat, we're pretty evenly stacked. Two get a ticket of $215, 3rd pays ~$110. Nothing out of the ordinary, until one player checks behind the nuts (top set, no straights or flushes possible). Lo and behold, a little later he calls a big river bet with 7-high! I'm like wtf is happening, this is great! After calling off all in with Q-high, he busts in 3rd and I pick up a ticket which I immediately convert to tourney-$. Target tournament does not start for another 8 hours. The only thing I can think of villain did not know that you can convert tickets, pretty bizarre.

Anyway, I'm 6 hours in, up $235, and not stopping yet!!

ps: Just folded KQ on $10 FTP final table vs. all in river shove in massive pot after calling pre, flop and turn on AJT4A runout... Puke, sigh, fold.

Had a couple rail-worthy final tables at the upper end of current BI range, but managed to find questionable spots to put my chips in and consequently busted in 9th and 5th. Ahh, what could have been. Up $350 but down in spirit...

Still, I'm 70% towards my goal.

Psych! Wasn't done playing yet . Just picked up another $215 WCOOP ticket in a format that I've told myself repeatedly to never play again (X+R 3x-Turbo) . This month I have run absolutely insane in WCOOP sats. I have played for $100 total buy-in, and cashed for >$900.

And having learned my lesson, I'll wait for the last bowlcomp before final update. Currently ITM 18/25 with ~$250 up top.

edit: and I'm out. Very solid session today, after a bit of a rough start. Won two $215 tickets and a 2nd for $160, plus a bunch of final tables for another couple hundred. Not really pleased with my play on those regular FTs, but I also did not spew outrageously so whatever. I'm obviously thrilled about cashing in 3 out of 4 sattie FTs, I only played 10 to begin with. Up ~$550 for the day.

Now I'm finally done it's time for a celebratory steak + beer. See ya!

Finally had some time to play online again. I was pretty psyched about this session because I decided I have a large enough bankroll that I can raise my ABI a bit. So far it hovered around $6, but I think a ABI ~$10 is probably fine now, if I keep my table count low (<10) so I don't punt as much. Gotta keep it interesting too, and adding the Big $27.50, a $5 2R1A and a $27 PKO and cutting out some $5 bowlcomps sounds reasonable but exciting.

So with a max table count of 10 (really hard to not get greedy and reg all the things) I played ~6 hours today, and ran so well I only played 19 games total. No huge scores, but I did finish 3rd in the $5 2R1A and cashed 6 more games, so was really pleased. And since it's another 3 months until my gf moves to Australia, I figured I might as well get a 3 month Sharkscope subscription to aid in my last period of "proper" grinding. Main reason of course to show off my YTD graph (lol volume):

It's been going so well the last few months I almost forgot about variance. Pretty frustrating session just now, losing all the flips, but at least I was done early. For the time being I'm playing live, but I'm thinking about taking a week off during Micromillions, assuming it will be in November again. Does anyone know?

Played my second actual HU in a pubgame, with no deal made. I lost, but I am fine with my decision. Still, it stings a bit losing a flip for $200 ($450 for 1st and $250 for 2nd).

Some hands on FT:

Blinds 4k/8k, I am chipleader with a little over 300k, which is 25% of chips in play 8-handed. I'm in HJ with AK and open to 17k. CO calls, BB calls. Sizing was a misclick, blinds just went up, meh.

Flop K86, pot 55k. BB checks, I cbet 25k, CO folds, BB raises to 80k. He is a random to me, but gives off a capable vibe. More importantly, he is the only stack that can hurt me, he has ~250k total. It's such a dry board and I'm the only one that can bust him. I just don't see him doing this with straight draws or Kx. I think he has two pair/sets here almost always. I fold.

He shows K6, I show my hand, the crowd goes wild.

A few hands later.

Blinds 4k/8k, I'm in BB with Q2 with 260k behind. Villain from last hands limps in on CO, folds to me, I check.

Flop Q74, pot 20k. I check-call a 17k bet.

Turn Q, pot 54k. I check, he bets 35k, I call.

River 2, pot 124k. I have 200k behind, I check. He bets 60k, I think for a while and jam. He looks disgusted but quickly calls with Q9 and I win a pot worth half the chips in play.

Two hands later.

Blinds 4k/8k, UTG open jams for 50k, villain UTG+1 from last two hands rejams for 124k, I'm on BTN and also ship it in. SB calls off his remaining 30k.

UTG: KJ
UTG+1: AQ
Me: JJ
SB: 63

Board runs out 874T8, I bust 3 players and now have 75% of chips in play 5-handed.

Eventually I proceed to lose AJ>KJ for a significant pot, 3-handed the two shorter stacks get it all in with even stacks and I wind HU vs. the winner, my 700k vs. his 450k.

We play for a bit at 15k/30k, he jams quite a bit and I get my spot when dealt AJ, but it's no good against his 55. A little later I lose the rest with J9<A4 and it's GG. I can find one loose call that was unnecessary, but other than that I feel like I played really solid and I'm perfectly fine not making a deal versus my HU opponent.

Next let's just win it.

Just busted the Friday game in hilarious fashion. I try to refrain from posting bad beats, but this one entertained me more than it bothered me. Surprisingly, since it's probably the worst one to date in live games this year:

5-handed, 3 get paid. Blinds 3k/6k.

UTG (drunk drooler, 50k) folds
CO (young solid reg, 100k) folds
BTN (young asian kid, 150k) limps in
SB (ultratight asian lady, 45k) folds
I'm in BB with 125k with KK, I raise to 26k, BTN calls. This kid is not a complete donk, but has made some questionable plays. Once he limps in in position as chipleader, no way he's folding much, so I make it pretty big.

Flop J96, pot 55k. I bet 28k, BTN calls

Turn 7, pot 111k. After some consideration, I jam for 71k, BTN quickly calls. I must have had a crazy image to him, which is weird since I've been playing pretty straightforward so far. He shows K6. Total pot 250k (>50% of chips in play).

River 6

It might have been the whisky, but I was fine with it. He played it really bad, but that's good for me, not more you can do than getting it in with 95%.
Tomorrow I might play a $105 game with nice structure, $4k for first, looking forward to it!

Just busted this. I had a fantastic table full of weaktight MAWGs, but was completely card dead. Chipped up a bit at the start by pressuring, but they started calling a lot and I did not get any value spots. Such a great game, a pity it was one of those cold deck tournaments.

And tonight I'm back to acting like a little pussy and chop this Tuesdays game 3-way for $250 (which was pretty much ICM for my stack and we were 8bb deep effective, but at least one villain was folding waaaayyy too much).

Just stumbled across this thread.

Well done on your challenge so far. As a university student here in Aus and part-time professional player I know how hard it can be to make the time to play. I've dabbled in some of the various poker league tourneys around that you'd be playing, but don't have much patience for them given the structures of an average weekly is abysmal in my mind. I specialise in PLO cash online anyway, and make trips to the Star, Jupiter's and Crown for PLO cash tables every so often. Playing my first Aussie Millions soon as well.

Good luck with your challenge mate, maybe I'll see you at some of the larger buyin events ($150-$500ish) around Sydney over the summer if you play any of those.

Thanks man. Now that I have a little bit more to play with I'm definitely up for some bigger and better structured games. The main issue is transport, I don't have a car (yet) and last time I took public transport to a bigger game I didn't really appreciate having to sit on a bus for 2 hours after getting bad beat by a maniac.
I'm really playing poker nowadays to have fun, and a $25 game that is a 5 min walk from my place with a fun crowd that doesn't finish too late is pretty ideal. The structure is really poor of course, but as long as the other players keep making huge short stack mistakes, I still make plenty of money.

That being said, let me know if you have any tips about good $100-$200 tournaments in the upcoming months. And good luck with Aussie Millions!

Well in a couple of weeks I'll be heading down to Sydney for the weekend with some friends, and they'll be entering into a Rounders event in Ashfield that I'll be coaching/ railing them for. $250 BI 20k GTD 40k start stack, 30min levels. I think that'd be a decent structure if 250 isn't too out of roll for you.

Thanks for the suggestion. It's a bit out of the way, but it sounds like a good game.

Tonight I late regged the $25 freezeout and got placed at a table with a wild player who likes to gamble (as in limpcall big raises OOP etc). From a EV perspective this is fine, from an enjoyment perspective not so much since it means you'll need to wait for solid hands and variance goes way up. I lasted 30 mins and went home tilted as ****.

I vpiped for 3 hands:

200/400, starting stack is 30k. Five limps behind me. I'm on BB with TT and raise to 2400. Two calls.

Flop AAA, pot 8.4k. SB checks, I bet 3.6k, MP folds, SB calls.

Turn K, pot 15.6k. Check, check.

River J, pot 15.6k. SB bets 6k, I fold. SB shows A7.

300/600, four limps behind me, I'm on BTN with 88, I raise to 3200. Three calls.

Flop 22T, pot 13.7k. MP (the gambler) checks, HJ donkbets 2.5k, CO folds, I call, MP calls.

Turn 6, pot 21.2k. MP checks, HJ bets 3.5k, I fold, MP calls.

River J, pot 28.2k. Check, check. Gambler takes it down with T7 vs. HJ 77

500/1000, four limps behind me, I'm on SB with KK and make it 6k with 15k behind. MP (the gambler) calls, rest folds.

Flop 929, pot 14k. I bet 4.5k, gambler calls.

Turn J, pot 23k. I check, gambler bets 5k, I shove for 11k, he calls with 98

Sigh.
