Started playing poker like 8 months ago at 2NL with £20, withdrew my BR a couple times bc uni, then deposited £200 1.5 months ago and BR currently ~£1200 and taking shots at 50NL. Here's my wr etc for the last 6 weeks:

88-JJ mostly, then 76s AA-QQ at some frequency. Shoving seems fine since draws are priced in and villain can definitely call with worse, + never ever folding rivers.

Shot-taking 50NL is not going well. Played another 900 hands today so far down 300bb lmao. Really frustrating, feel I do actually have quite a good edge vs pool and quite a few regs too. Just not making hands, or losing at SD when I do make them or not quite getting the bluffs through.

Unfortunately, I think I'm going to move sites. I love stars software and the competitiveness between other regs but I feel it's smarter to move sites which are softer and with more RB. It'll help me be able to continue moneywise and hopefully give me a little expendable income which would be v helpful as a student. I'm down for being persuaded otherwise though.

I haven't kept this bloggy thing up since I struggled to handle uni + poker, but I've got a 5 week break and have been managing work/poker better the last couple weeks. Aims for these 5 weeks are to write up BTNvBB cheat sheet, and hopefully study and write up a MPvBTN by the end. Aiming to move to 100NL by end of the 5 weeks too. gl

Just posted this in a discord group I'm in and got me thinking.

After a little discussion, I came to the conclusion that it was short-sighted to try earn money now if I can put more hours into studying poker and earn more by moving up the stakes. If anyone actually reads this thread I'd like to hear some opinions because I'm still torn between to the two.

I'm going to keep my BR split between the two sites for the next week or so until I'm certain of my decision. Played for an hour or so yesterday, +£50.

Attempting to exploit pool by raising cbet as I think they overfold here. Dislike my river bluff, just doing it cos I have 7 high. Idk what value hands I have here, maybe some JT/A8/K8/84, maybe I should mix some sets in too. Obvs villains cbet is awful and river call is likely bad.

Really happy with my game at the moment. Still got another 4 weeks before term 3 of uni starts to improve it further + get monies.

Very good week overall, I spent loads of hours previous to this week (40hrs+) studying and it's really payed off (literally ). Red line is looking v nice, at least in comparison to the very negative one I've always had prior to the last month.

Next week I'm trying to do more of the same, carrying on studying my uni + poker work, run 3 times and carry on grinding. BR is about £2k, debating taking shots on 100NL. I think I'll spend a bit more time studying and then I'll feel comfortable doing so.

Not quite getting bluffs through/hitting hands today. I feel it affected my confidence but didn't actually affect my game too much, silver linings I guess.
The best thing about losing sessions is I lose my arrogance and realise how unbalanced I am in some spots and how weak my strategy is. However enough though I know my strats in lots of spots is v weak and often is done with incorrect reasoning, it is still better than majority of the regs in the pool. Just gotta keep improving, every day.

H1: I think OTR it depends on what hands I BC flop. I don't think BC gutshots on the flop is going to be profitable vs pool who when they XR barrel at high freqs (vs better regs I'd do so). H3: So my thoughts were villains cbet strategy is going to be very high equity hands and QQ+/JJ/KQs. So I believe our range should be XR only here, as I don't think XC QQ/AJ is going to be profitable OOP vs this range (as far as I've seen from PIO work so far). So if I'm going to XR, it's nice to do so w QQ since its got good equity + good blockers to the nuts. In hindsight, maybe folding to 3B is best since lets be honest, it's JJ/KQs majority of the time.

Decent day, mixed bag of a session but happy to get another winning day


H1:Might be spew, I haven't actually worked on these boards yet but from what I've seen this may be okay. I feel we need some non club hands to find bluffs on four club boards, this makes sense blocking sets. OTR I felt I'll have no bluffs, so I put sets and even QJs/KQs/KJs in spots.
