Hard to estimate vpp/hr cos volume there is very sporadic .Stakes are 1/2 and 2/4 and I pay ~$10/100 so 60vpp/100, if you start just sitting all the regs you can get a few hundred hands/hr.

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

Very frustating day at cap, might just quit sitting that soon because just feel like I can't win in that anymore. Also kinda frustating day at SnG to have such a good start then crash like that. Over half volume v regs though and even sat a few 200s+ guys (just sitting people I have little experience with) so I guess can't be too displeased with it.

SnG:

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

Quite pleased with today, about 150 games v regs at 60s, really getting that volume in at 60s and ahead of the pace I need to be with ok ev so far. Feeling like I'm back up to the level I'd like to be at and setting myself up well for pushing hard next year.

Today at 60s:

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

Slightly less volume than I would've liked today. Played a lot of regs again, 100+ games v themso I guess I should be quite pleased, always slightly annoying to have ev downswing at end of day in a few spots that you felt were meh. Gonna really try and put in the volume over the next few days. Going for >300 $60s on Friday and >400 $60s on Saturday. Be interesting to see what sne pace feels like

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

Forgot I had dentists today so that killed any chance of getting 300 games so just took it easy, Going to try today instead since I'll have no distractions ad maybe 400 on sunday. 13.5k vpp to go, putting in like 1500vpp/day recently so keeping this up can have 2 days off and still make supernova.

todays graph:

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

Ended up having to help my sister move house and sort out some christmas stuff so didn't get in volume I wanted over past few days. Although had one last game today and ended up two tabling someone, followed by offer to flip which I duly obliged to (really need to work on not snap accepting flip offers from randoms ). Last 56 games of my graph were flips I think. Started at 350 went to +900, back down to 150 and finish at few $ below where I started, was fun though.

few days graph:

90k, gogogo (although may end up having to play nye as it is):

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

6881 vpps to go (992 $60 games). Hopefully be done by 6am or so on nye then can go bed and not wake up and spend the evening playing poker. Big downswing in the middle of the graph came when I decided would be interesting to try and 4 table HU and play an against the clock level of candy crush on iPhone simultaneously, fair to say I'm not doing that again lol (Although not much I could do about most of it, I did play some hands not great and adjust poorly to some of the fish). Near bottom of downswing started doing flips again with some random fish and lost even more ev which didn't help graph.

Graph since last:

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

Getting in nice volume, been horribly godmoded by some fish though, between 3 of them they took 15bis of ev off me . Only 3739vpps to go (540 games), so should be done in like 30 hours or so hopefully.

graph since last update (2 days and 1 hour of today)

Can't remember, what like 90/100s region I think though, was just killing time whilst I waited for next quest so picked a random level.

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

One day to go then the year is done

1784vpps left to go (258 games). Gonna have some sleep then finish probably around this time tomorrow. Be glad once I finally have supernova with a whole 23 or so hours to spare lol. Won't be spending the turn of the year sat playing poker

Last 20 hours graph:

Also been playing the $101/102 HU MTTs recently, swapping 20% with shifty. In last 3 days managed to get final 4 twice. Today shift decided not to wake up in time so played with 100% andddd:

Even better though, when i was playing semi final talked to ggarethh on skype and we agreed to chop if I made final so just flipped 1st hand (Lost AQ v T2, tilting cos I really wanted my name in 1st place, in the grand scheme of things guess that's a pretty small complaint though lol)

Finished with 23 hours to spare

Gonna do a year review/next year intro post in the coming days complete with all graphs.

Last two days SnG graph:

Month $60s SnG graph (basically two week graph). Pretty pleased with ev given I played a decent amount of established regs and tried to sit all new ones as well. 1st month of solid volume at 60s as well so overall satisfied with that line :

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

2013; Year in review:
General thoughts:
Overall would have to say I’m pleased with the year. Progressed from 10s/15s at the start of the year with BR of <1k at points to comfortably rolled at 60s and confidence in my ability to play a decent amount of regs at this stake and looking forward to taking the 100s on. One frustration I sometimes struggled to deal with was running bad when I move up. In my entire time playing HU hypers I have managed to have to move down after every single shot take and the only stake I've run above ev at is the 7s. Towards the end of last year I really started to try and just ignore that and never comment on it because fixating on things like that can never be constructive. Still couldn't help but look at my by stakes graph and feel annoyed though :P

Also went from being most comfortable one tabling but could two table to comfortable on 3 to 4 tables and being able to play up to 7. In total for the year from all poker related activities I made about $30,000. Considering where I can frim at the start of the year and that I’m doing a full time degree, earning that amount tax free is very nice. This has placed me in a fortunate position to make good money relatively easy and I’ll be hoping to make the most of this opportunity in the coming year. Going to have to sacrifice a lot of my social life but I believe it should be worth it.
Graphs:
Completely unfiltered PT4 database:
Tourney:

Cash:

Hyper turbo year graph (all stakes $7+)

And chips:

Hyper turbos (excluding his stakes excursions)

Hyper turbos $30s

Hyper turbos $60s

2014; Thoughts goings forward:

I’ll start with aims, the mains ones being:
[ ] >50k profit
[ ] 200k vpps
[ ] Maintain a 1st at Uni
[ ] 100s reg, battling for place at 200s

This year is definitely going to be challenging and I’ll be pushing as hard as possible to achieve these goals. The hardest part is going to be balancing a high level of poker play with a high level of academic performance. To achieve this I’ll be looking to be putting in 50hrs of study/week and 40hrs of poker/week. When I go back to Uni in 2 weeks I’ll be looking how I can optimise my entire schedule and how exactly I’m gonna spread out work from playing. I’ll also have to have a think about how I’m gonna split poker time between play and working on my game. In the past year I haven’t had to really focus on any work on my game and I’ve been fortunate in that I’ve just been able to beat the games. Going forward I will be looking to change that. Kinda frustrating that I still feel the need to attend Uni. Would love to be able to fully dedicate myself to poker and go for sne.
When I am online I’ll be playing both 30s and 60s I think, I’ll try to keep most of my volume at the start at 60s though. I’ll try and achieve that by sitting all new regs along with all ones I don’t consider particularly strong. I really need to look at sorting my tagging system out though. I can’t set sharky to sit anyone because I have too many good/hs reg unmarked. If a reg open sits and gets snap sat by someone like Kyle Aiken I generally mark them to sit as well, means I never get to sit fish that get a lobby though.

Redbulls are as much a part of my everyday life as eating so I forget the amount I drink may be considered noteworthy :P

Well done and good luck in 2014

I think you should start a "cartel" at 60s btw

I love that massive dip in the HU hyper graph around 10k games. I assume largely caused by Spacegravy rivering that jack

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

Decided gonna do weekly updates this year with a monthly summary, doing daily and posting 100-200 game graphs seems kinda pointless.

Week 1

Not too bad of an opening week, although not very happy with how I played some hands and how badly I played when 4 tabling fish at times. Action was very nice at start and is still pretty good at certain times in the day so only 15% or so of volume v regs. Nearly all games are 60s, played 15 30s and about 30 100s (with 5 v regs i think). Actually had 4 fish tables at 100s yesterday, apparently cartel had gone awol and lobbies were open, was pretty nice, like 400 ev and 700 actual .

Graph of week:

I'm not proactive enough to start one haha, but when action worsens towards summer I'd imagine it's only a matter of time till someone attempts to starts one. Will be interesting to see how it develops anyway.

That certainly contributed to it lol. T9 into TT for 400 chips at 20/40 and c/jamming K4 on AA4 into Ax just made it worse :P

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

Week 2:

Decided to scrap my plan of leaving 100s for now and have started playing them. Feeling pretty good in them so far and not losing which is nice. Since I'm playing 100s my reg % is obv gonna go way up since I gotta go through the entire cartel, I think this week it was something like 70% (played quite a few at 60s as well). Got absolutely slaughtered at this 60s though, mostly to fish so I can cope with that :P Also lost ~$600 in $100 HU hyper MTTs so was a pretty bad week overall.

Also decided to restructure my day which is proving interesting. My new schedule for an average day is Wake up at 3am, play poker 3:30 till 8:30. Be at uni for 10am, home at 6pm, bed at 8pm. Polar opposite of my usual bed at 10am, wake, sleep at 5pm routine

this weeks graph:

What's wrong with standard human routine of waking up in the morning, going to uni and playing poker at evening after uni? Why do you have to wake up at night and play prior to uni?

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

Well there are two main reasons for it. Firstly I believe this way will see me utilise my time far more efficiently. I will often waste hours in the evening watching films and tv and just messing about in general. Whereas I find I use morning hours way better. Also even though I will play mostly regs the lobbies are generally better to play in at this time as well
