Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

Finally got round to playing yesterday and got like 1300vpps, damn i pay a lot of rake playing cap. Felt fairly rusty at start of day (didn't help me that I managed to have a 1.4k downswing mid session so with not playing much recently was wondering if I was just being really bad or if it was just std hands I'd shrug off normally) but doesn't take long to get back into the flow and by end of day felt pretty comfortable 4 tabling. Gonna try to start marking hands so can start posting hands and general thoughts about them here again.

Graph for cap ($1/2 and few hundred hands of 2/4, swings are fun there) and SnGs (all 60s):

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

Decided to just queue for 60s and wait at 1/2 cap today whilst I was doing cwk. Pretty frustating session v 2 fish at cap. One had 3-bet over 40% over several hundred hands and every time I called off I never saw worse than Ax or PP, wasn't sure if he was being ridic lucky with what i saw or just running insanely hot. Also played some 6max cap and some full ring deep and some 100bb HU, was just having fun playing poker today Although not quite sure how profitable my 71% vpip at fr is lol.

Hand (very questionable play on my part , thought I coould make myself look very nutty taking this line though and get enough folds from stuff. The sizing otf makes me expect not many good value hands since most are pretty vulnerable so are generally going bigger to jam turn (so I think taking this line with any of your range will probably be a mistake). So I'm not really sure what range I'm facing, maybe occasionally nutty hands like QQ, JJ, never hands like AQ, AJ and then an few T3s, (94s, and occasionally Qxs, Jxs type stuff) Against that range I think I can win the pot a lot on future streets. so decide to float thinking he will jam any turned straights (maybe not 9h4h on Tx), but jam most of them so if he checks those cards or most others I've got a fairly good idea of where I am. and how to proceed. Fairly nice turn and I like his action but I have pretty much zero sdv v his range so go for smallish bet like I'd probably be doing with my value hands and it's also ugly for him when I bet that size cos he has pretty bad reverse implied odds if he plans on calling since river is going to be another urgh street for him with pretty much everything. So betting small achieves the same as jamming except I give him two streets to fold and I can have a lot stronger range. otr everything has got there so even though I'm not feeling too pleased he has called turn it's probably one of the best cards I could've hoped for so feel like obligatory jam :

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

Still falling behind where I want to be volume wise for supernova but should make it (be quite expensive if I don't) on 75.68k. As long as I'm over 80k vpps then getting 20k in December shouldn't be a problem. Hopefully will have slightly less than 20k to get though.

Also been playing quite a lot of cap today, Started off 1/2 trying to clear out the gay people form the lobbies, then sat one of them at 2/4 where he left table, forgot about that table so left it open and someone sat so decided to play, they lost like 300 there and offered 3/6 so i duly obliged.

First time I sat with 4 figs at one table . Played a reg for abit after that at 1/2 where i was down abit so we moved it to 2/4 and was very swingy match, he beat me for a decent amount in the end I think though, will probably play more in future with him. Graphs are getting very very swingy though.

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

Played a decent amount recently, including 1k hands of cap v reg at 2/4 who I don't think is very good, cue swinggyyyy sessions. Probably going to stop doing that for time being, I'm still fairly sure the edge lies with me but it sort reminds me of a blog post from Sauce123 (which was also quite an interesting read as well), http://www.leggopoker.com/blogs/sauc...blog-8833.html Also sorta frustrating the way the ev line has gone and the way he has run in certain spots. With amount of Uni work I like to do don't really have time to work too hard on theory either so think those sessions are going to stop for now. His graph v me:

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

Decided to sit 1/2, 2/4 and 3/6 cap today along with normal grind. Played a fish at 3/6 cap and lost quite a bit, might consider dropping from sitting that if I lose abit more in it, 20bb with $120 stacks will create some interesting swings Also decided at 60s to try and sit anyone I see who I recognize as being new to 60s.

Anyways, graph since last update:

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

They added zoom 1/2 : Now just need to get rid of reg tables and cap will be so so awesome. No 2/4 though, only 2.5/5 which is like $100s so probs 1/2 is max Zoom stake and sit up to 3/6 on normal tables. Probably not gonna play much over weekend so no update, gonna go to the pokerstars VIP london thing and meet a few hyper guys so that's most of saturday/sunday gone, probably play a bit Sunday evening though if I don't have too much cwk to do..

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

So with being away sat/sun didn't play much but played abit over past few days. Looking at my more recent graphs I haven't run well really but my ev hasn't been going up too much either and I feel like maybe my game is developing a few leaks. Also it hasn't been helping that with not using sharky for 30s I've just been playing like 90% regs. Probably going to go back to using sharky for 30s till I've won a bit of money again and stop doing things like 7 tabling, like if it gets to the point where I'm playing 4 fish and 3 regs I try to just play and rematch everyone. I think I need to stop doing that though and accept declining people is fine sometimes and put my ego to one side instead of thinking I can just play everyone on lots of tables.

Anyway graph since last update:

7 tabling but still can't do 100 games in 5 days period? Dude, you're doing something wrong. :P
But umm, are there any tricks or programs to help you follow the action on all the tables that you use? I have hard time playing 3 at once, any tips?

haha, well 7 tabling isn't a constant thing, I just sometimes go up to a max of 7 tables and try not to quit any. Also not done that for past few days since some of the tables are cap when i do that and I haven't played cap.

Nah no tricks/programs. I just set my screen so first 4 tables are tiled with some overlap and the next 3 are scattered around randomly. Probably biggest thing is making sure you don't change table positions. Like I generally can remember most showdowns v each villain and how I've decided to construct my ranges v a reg I've playing but if the tables move I just collapse.

I also had a hard time playing 3 at once, a lot of it just comes with practice and doing stuff like my 10k game week caused me to have to get used to more tables, just keeping adding tables and eventually you'll get there.

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

Given how little volume I've played recently haven't really bothered with monthly summaries So I'll do a 3 monthly one now. Need 21.5k vpp to get supernova although I have tests + some horrific looking pieces of cwk to do so I won't be able to grind hard till 16th december, from then I will play as much as I need to get supernova. (since cashing in 200k fpps + $600 bonus would be nice after my recent results).

Results recently have been very poor, I think this is down to a few factors. Playing too many tables (not too long ago I was 1-2 tabling and even in august probably spent most time 3 tabling and rarely went above 4. Now I'm going up to 7 and constantly trying to keep a minimum of 4. This has meant just completely abandoning game selection at $30s and just manual regging when I want more action. Doing this obviously means I get more reg games, this coupled with trying to play a load of tables and trying to never decline anyone either is obviously going to impact results so I'm going to work on not doing that anymore. Also recently I've been playing quite a lot of regs and my fish game seems to have just fallen apart.

tbh will just be glad when this year is over. Then I can feel like I've got a fresh start and hopefully get back to winning ways. I try to refrain from mentioning running under ev (since there is rarely going to be a gain from fixating on it) as well but with being a new year can just feel like it's been reset to zero and can go from there and hopefully spend the year above it .

Last 3 months:

cash (just drop few hundred ev every time I play recently):

You have good thinking process, so i am sure you will beat higher levels in no time
Good luck mate, subbed
p.s i have 20k to supernova too
was thinking to offer you some bet for supernova, but after seeing what you do in august i decided not to ;d

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

Haha yea, guess you're one of the guys I wasted time chasing round the cap tables , really need to stop spending my grind time doing that lol. ty.

Lol yea I'd probs not bet against it either if I were you. If need be I can just start warring with lots of regs (far easier in SnGs since if you start sitting someone at 60s people are forced to play) or even just start sitting 100s and get some nice vpps there and probably put in 2k vpp days if need be so barring some external event it's pretty much a lock.

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

Just a quick update:

Barely played at all recently but exams and cwk are now out of the way for a while and have to grind 20.5k vpps to make supernova. Averages out as like 200 $60s a day . This means I'm basically gonna be just sitting every reg i don't have much experience with and if I manage to avoid a big ds probably regging for some $100s as well and taking on some regs there. Bad time to have to do this given the lack of play/work on my game but hopefully after a few days I'll be on top of my game again.

Re: shooting for the high stakes (HU hypers - from $15s to $1000s)

first day and a bit back grinding. Felt very rusty at first. Pretty much instantly sat some reg I hadn't played much and two tabled them along with two fish tables and two HU cap tables, maybe slight error to play that many tables, ended up timing out quite abit and losing $100 equity doing so. Don't barely play for 3 months then try 6 tabling HU imo, lesson learnt.

Probably going to stop playing regs at HU cap for a while, just can't win ev there atm and for how much it distracts me from SnGs it's probably not worth it, if I need vpps I'll go back to playing people though. Finding it surprisingly easy to put in 1500+vpp days though by just sitting a few regs which is nice. Kinda makes me sad that I can't do this more often, if I didn't have uni would love to really push it next year and go for sne.

HU cap:

What sort of vpp/hr would you estimate you earn per table of cap, and what stakes? glgl
