The 10z was actually a typo btw lol. Your not terrible. More solid than rapid, but then again who isn't.

Sup guys. Apologies for the lack of updates of late. Had some disruptions IRL but also not been looking after myself very well. Ready to snap out of my malaise and get everything moving in the right direction again. Body-clock is semi-fixed so that will be a big help.

Not going to bother reviewing the last long-term goals. I failed them miserably and volume in that time has been close to non-existent. Looking at my total 25NLz graph I'm only about 9.1k hands from reaching 50k hands total so, for the next week, I'll focus on hitting that milestone then will post the graph. Once that's reached I'll start allocating time towards the Flopzilla work again, which is clearly super important but is sadly causing me a lot of mental resistance.

Here's some hands since last update.

H3 - Bit of a tilting one vs a nitty semi-reg. Vs most std sizings pre I won't even defend the offsuit combos. River might be too thin although it's not impossible we get value from some weaker hands that could be in range despite lolsample suggesting otherwise. Was specifically hoping AK would hero. Uhm, really **** day yesterday. Only played for just over an hour. Was a horrible session. Felt so out of form, which I suppose shouldn't be a surprise given the amount of slacking of late. Just felt like I had no idea what I was doing. Lost heavily too in the 400 or so hands, prob around 3 or 4 BIs.

Also failed to update in here which is a joke but today is a new day so we'll go again and try to get into a bit of form before the weekend grind. The last few weekends where I've put in good volume I've lost quite a bit of money so fingers crossed I can run better and actually capitalise on the softer games this time around.

H1 - Really strange that this reg is using a limping strat. They tanked for ages before deciding against river-bluff which is fortunate because I was folding.

H2 - LAG opener, fish in bb, BTN is a reg. Think flat pre is fine. River is just horrible but BTN has 3b just 2/67 opportunities so think they can have some AQo that they didn't sqz, and also prob some stuff like KQs, even QJs or AcJx/KcJx that we can get value from. When they raise it's horrible but don't think we can call profitably.

H3 - Vs basically a rando with poor looking stats over a tiny sample. Maybe can make a tight fold with the Qd here but I'm so out of form I didn't even take that into consideration. Obv hoping to get snapped by JJ/TT or something screwy but a lot of recs might not even have those two PPs in their 3b range.

H4 - Literally no idea what I'm doing here vs a reg. No plan or thought process. I bet river and realised straight away, after the fact, I was getting snapped by this exact type of hand. Suppose if I'm only bluffing NFD here then I'm not over-bluffing, but still, at these garbage stakes I can just exploitably never bluff when I know all PPs snap river, and do better financially in the longrun.

H5 - CO has aggressive reggy stats over 40 hands. Vs standard bet sizes I c/r turn but vs this I had no idea what to do. Obv I know it's almost always strong as overbets in this situation are heavily weighted towards strength. Still no idea if c/jamming is the play vs this size. I suspect maybe not.

Slightly less unproductive day today but the small volume I put in was a huge struggle.

I feel unbelievably low on confidence after the time away from the tables and am finding myself getting tilted at myself for letting my good form wither and die. Before I let everything slide I felt really sharp and excited when I was grinding. Now I'm second guessing myself and playing with a great deal of fear as a result, misplaying lots of spots due to that fear, and then getting ******ed ill feelings towards the other players which is something that has rarely affected me in recent times.

I hope I feel better tomorrow.

H4 - This is what I'm on about when I say I was playing scared. Just a butchered hand. Should raise big on turn all day long but, as dumb as it sounds, I was terrified of this player having 64 even though we should never be scared of that. River is gross when they size up like this. Think given the passive way I played I prob should've just called even though basically nobody bluffs river this way. But if I raise turn I prob get to check this river anyway.

So after reading the horror stories about hacked stars accounts and stars taking no action I decided to update the security on my account. I already had a pretty solid password, albeit one I'd been using for a while, and an RSA token, but I decided to change the password to something completely unique and to add the 6-digit stars code.

Before doing so I spoke to live chat and explicitly asked if I could use stars code in conjunction with the RSA token. The bellend said it would be fine so I added stars code and set that up, before then realising that my RSA token had been removed as a result. You can't use both. It's one or the other.

So I then got back in touch with stars, explained what had happened and had the stars code removed and the RSA token reinstated as surely the RSA is more secure than the stars code. They said this was fine and did that for me.

Today as I sat down in a good frame of mind to grind I tried to login using my RSA but got an error message saying it was inactive on my account. I then emailed pokerstars, and logged in using restricted mode. Unfortunately you can't live-chat in restricted mode but there is an option to have an emergency SMS code sent to the account. Sadly I hadn't updated my mobile from about 2 years ago when I got a new phone.

Final option was to get a mate to speak to live-chat for me. He kindly did so and asked for them to prioritise my case but, sadly, they gave him the expected line that he can't talk to them about another player's issue and that I'd just have to wait for the security department to find my email.

It's been about 10hrs of pure frustration and I'm still yet to have this issue resolved. It all stems to that live-chat donut failing to understand a basic question. If the person on the other end had held the basic knowledge that you can't use both RSA and stars code together, then I wouldn't have just lost a day of ++EV grinding in the soft Friday night games.

H1, should only be a very low freq 3bet. Common mistake to just auto 3bet it. Not a hand you should be happy playing in 3bet pots.

H4. I hate playing that deep but pretty sure flop is a re raise.

H5. Mp has sets there 100% of the time.

H6. You are drawing to the nuts, so decide to check the flop to ensure you lose value if you hit it? Thats rapidesh type logic. Build the pot ffs. Check back some weaker fd's vs aggro players.
10-13-2018 , 12:31 AM
H1. A8s these positions should be 3bet close to 100% solver does like 85-90 but vs people who fold or call too much oop id 3bet 100% freq.
H4. Raise turn to like 17-20 shove blank rivers. fwiw this is why u shouldn't play this deep if you are actually scared build the pot with 2nd nuts when villains flop value range contains 4 better combos 9 worse combos and like 9 chops plus ****load of more mergy combos.
H6. Check back AK or AQ fd rather than lower Ax. Reasons should be obvious need less protection from highcards, greater checking ev to draw to tp for free and less chance to cooler a K/Q high flush.
10-13-2018 , 02:00 AM
If you are going to play for stacks in H4, it should just be a flop 3bet.

lol at checking back AKc, H6. Thats the way to beat micros clearly. lul.

Wouldn't say I just auto-3b. Checked stats before deciding.

If not flop then definitely turn.

When I was in form a few weeks ago there would've been no question of taking this sort of line. Just been plagued with some weird scared mentality when I've managed to grind lately.

Makes a lot of sense. Ty.

So I've only just received a reply from stars and they sent me a copy + paste email with instructions on how to activate an RSA token...the problem being I can only access account in restricted access and that functionality is disabled in restricted access.

I've emailed them again to explain I'm effectively locked out of my account and will probably have to wait until Monday before receiving another reply.

As mentioned before this all stems from the live chat agent failing to inform me I can't use stars code in conjunction with an RSA token despite me specifically asking that question. Honestly, when combined with the ongoing HUD issues, I'm starting to develop a disturbing seething hatred for modern stars support. Just seeing the stupid client on my desktop is making me grind my teeth to the nubs. I can remember a time when they were the nuts but it's getting to a point nowadays where, combined with the rake and all other negative developments in the amaya era, it's becoming intolerable to keep using their service.

I can't be bothered now but I guess I'll elaborate further on "developments" with the HUD issue tomorrow. It's enough to send better men than me on hot fiery tilt for the rest of their lives. It's beyond words what has happened to this once amazing company. They don't deserve my custom.
10-14-2018 , 09:14 PM
Quick update. As anticipated I’m still locked out of my account. Received no reply today. When I’m on my pc tomorrow I’ll find out if there’s a phone number I can call to speed this up. Having to wait 48hrs or more for each reply is beyond frustrating, especially when the quality of support is such garbage that there’s every chance they’ll yet again completely fail to comprehend what it is I’m telling them. It’s gotten to the point where I’m now legit paranoid that I have a highly confusing writing style or something. That’s how bad stars support is these days. They make BT support look good.
10-17-2018 , 10:58 AM
Quick update.

I'm still locked out of my account. It's infuriating it really is but there's not much I can do. It's totally out of my hands at this point.

I'm obviously quite annoyed at myself for never having updated my mobile as I could've just sent myself an emergency access code and then spoke to them in live chat, rather than having a back and forth with their miserably incompetent support and having to wait 2+ days for each reply. However, the root of this whole episode is the donut in live chat failing to inform me that I can't use stars code in conjunction with an RSA token.

I think back to how amazing stars support was in the pre-amaya days and I can't help but feel pure, seething hatred for what the company has become. Everything that has happened over the past few years would be at least tolerable without the decimation of rb and the increase in rake. I genuinely used to love their support team. Even compared with FTP, which was a great site in its own right, it was common knowledge that stars email support were amazingly swift and efficient whereas you'd be left hanging days waiting for FTP support to get back to you.

I've actually spent time over the last few days looking at other sites but, for tracked poker, the landscape is quite bleak. The best option in terms of rakeback is ipoker but I've used that network in the past and it really is total aids. Garbage software and bot infested beyond belief. I'm not against the idea of going to an untracked site at some point in the future but at this point in time it's not a good option.

I'd like to say that this period of being locked out of my account has been relaxing and de-stressing but tbh I've been beyond frustrated and so tilted and angry at pokerstars over this. I've been incessantly refreshing my inbox waiting for them to apply the simple fix to this issue. By the end of today it will be 6 full days lost since I realised I couldn't login on Friday. I just hope that when I finally get into my account and settle back into the grind the emotions of this situation don't seep into my play.
10-17-2018 , 11:12 AM
That's weird how they are taking their sweet time. I suggest bugging them politely with an other email. I've never had to wait more than 24h for a fix/question to be answered even after satan, I mean amaya, took over.

It took them about 2 days to reply to the first email, and that reply didn't address my issue at all. It was just a mere C+P of instructions on how to activate an RSA token. Sheer incompetence.

It took about another 2 days to reply to my next email reiterating what I'd said in the first email. They told me that they'd have to remove my RSA token for me to get back into my account, and then I can order a new one. They also told me I needed to reply and let them know I'm happy with this, which is ****ing ******ed and unnecessary because obviously I'm not going to say "No I don't want to do the only thing that can get me back into my account, please enjoy my $2k."

And now we're approaching another 2 full days since I last emailed them back to confirm. I've also emailed 2 more times since then. I've also had pokercrazy94 kindly spamming them hard each day in live chat to help speed this up. It's so tilting.
10-17-2018 , 02:00 PM
Lol just embarrassing really, tagged as 'URGENT' my arse. I'll have another go on live chat but doubt it will get anywhere
10-17-2018 , 11:48 PM
Still locked out of my account. This is so far beyond a joke now it's actually getting funny. I'm actually starting to enjoy the ridiculousness of the situation in a masochistic kind of way.

When I finally regain access I'm going to try to get them to send me the previous chat transcript so that I can prove their incompetence in failing to advise me that I can't use RSA and stars code together, then if the chat shows that and I wasn't just being a dolt who misread, I'll raise this issue with pokerstars and seek an explanation and some recompense for what's happened. If I'm not totally satisfied I'll be leaving the site as a matter of principle.

Honestly, I'd rather grind with a bunch of bots on ipoker at this point, or grind HUDless somewhere, than pay more extortionate fees to amaya.
10-18-2018 , 04:08 PM
Ok finally back in account. Spoken with stars support and confirmed I was misinformed, which was the spark that started this **** off. Have written a formal complaint and sent it to them. Not really expecting much to come from it but we'll have to wait and see.

Apologies for this thread turning aidsy of late but it's been a frustrating time. That's in the past now though. I may leave pokerstars in the near future depending on the outcome of this complaint but, in the meantime, it's time to get back on the right path.

Had a really solid day. Got all my poker goals and life goals completed for the first time in a good while. Determined to get over this poor spell and bring it all together again in the run up to christmas.

Poker went quite well. Ran fairly pure at times and, despite some setbacks towards the end, prob made a good 5 BI or so. Was just so happy and relieved to be back on the grind. Any fears that I'd feel rusty as **** quickly dissipated, I felt fresh and excited. Admittedly though, when you run hot and get max value in most spots the game does feel deceptively simple.

H6 - Prob worst hand of the day. UTG is a reg. We're hating life on turn. As discussed in discord, the turn jam is a big mistake because we surely induce TT and 88 to fold (if they even have those) and never give villain a chance to make a big mistake. FWIW though I think the Js is an irrelevant blocker here, can only see this player having AKss or AQss. Doubt KQss is even likely.

Think their line is atrocious as it's hard for them to rep flopped boats+ when they cbet so large, and overpairs/flushes should be more concerned than they appear to be by river. Obv in a downer a fish will show JJ like it's the nuts here and you want to quit poker/life.

Heard back from amayastars about the formal complain I made. I was hoping that at the very least they'd offer me a free tournament ticket or some spin tickets as way of a proper apology, but no such luck from the stingy bastards. They just wrote to apologise and sent me on my way. I'm a sucker though because I'm so averse to change I probably won't leave.

Yo. Decent day again. Think I made some solid coin, although could've been more but misplayed in a few spots which I'll post.

One thing I'm really pleased about is I can feel the confidence in my game growing again. I had a spell a few weeks ago where I felt like **** but I definitely sense I'm heading in the right direction and learning lots just by playing and speaking to fellow grinders. I still recognise the urgent need to start doing a bunch of lab work however. Between now and Christmas there has to be a big investment off the tables.

H1 - Turn was quite awkward vs a rec. Wasn't sure how to size it with > than a PSB. Against their exact hand it's possible jamming induces a fold.

H2 - I almost didn't cbet vs a loose rec and I think that would've clearly been a better option. As played though I actually think there's a case for c/c a turn jam as we don't expect there to be any made hands at this point that we can bluff, maybe we can bluff AQ and AJ at best, whereas if we check maybe any GSSDs that surely fold will bluff-jam themselves. By shoving we (likely) never get value from the only hands that we crush. Hope that makes sense?

H4 - This hand is a mess vs some player with reggy stats over 137 hands. As pointed out in discord, there's no need for me to go raising turn when we have fine odds to call. Villain actually snapped me off on river, I don't know whether I was giving away a timing tell or something but my spidey senses were telling me whilst I did what I did that this was a garbage spot to bluff. Still annoying that they snap with KQo. Hard to give credit to being owned when their line is so clearly backwards.

Before I got back into poker again I was messing about on a brain-training site called Luminosity. You can pay for a subscription to get full access to all the games and it gives you some cool analysis and statistics and stuff.

To cut a long story short I've subscribed for another month (+ a free 14 days) and have been experimenting with doing the daily recommended workout before starting grinding to get my brain warmed up. I've had a lot if occurrences where I've been foggy-headed during the first click of the day and, if I happen to misplay badly in that period, it take a lot of mental-effort to move on from the error. So far I do feel that taking the 20mins or so to do these workouts is helping me to feel sharper from the moment I sit down.

Starting from next week I'm going to start incorporating this as a goal. I understand that brain-training games aren't backed up by much scientific understanding, but I can only subjectively say that stressing my brain out before the grind seems to be helpful for me.

Here's the site for anyone interested. You can play a few games for free every day.

Done for the weekend. Today was quite tough, just tricky spots all day long. Overall I think I scored somewhere between a par and a bogey. Luckily the games were popping so I managed to make a bit in the end. I do think days like this are really useful though. It's stressful to constantly face tricky decisions and weird plays but it gets you thinking and self-assessing way more than running pure ever could.

H1 - Wish I could have this one back. Had 26 hands on squeezor, they were running at 27/15 with 67% AFq and 0% 3b. Flop and turn bets were lightening quick. In my head I was thinking "does a rec really squeeze/take this line with JJ or TT?" but really I should assume they can be spazzing/overplaying and just call down and say NH if they've got AA or quads.

Really pleased with the effort I've given to the grind this weekend. Played myself back into a bit of form following a poor spell mentally / account lockout gate.

Pokerstars didn't offer me anything in way of compensation for their screwup but I think there's a good chance they boomswitched my account, those sly devils.

Graph for Fri 19/10/18 to Sun 21/10/18

Breakdown by Day

The coming week will be 6 days as I'm visiting family next Sunday. Volume won't be high as there's other disruptions (upcoming house move, two Stoke games) but also I'm going to begin investing time into the lab this week. I want to get my game as strong as possible by the new year. As much as I'm learning from playing, my theoretical and mathematical knowledge is effectively non-existent. I'm going to read this whole thread at some point over xmas. Hopefully I won't get to this part and see nothing but empty words.

Nice looking graph mate, 10BIs is great especially after having been away for almost a week.

I'll have a look at that luminosity website, but i'll probably stick to recording and watching countdown after I wake up to get my brain going

It's a fun website although the games are quite stressful. Worth taking a look though for sure.

I'm not sure if I mentioned it already but a well known midstakes grinder got in touch a few weeks ago and offered some free coaching which I obv snap accepted. It's the second person who has been kind enough to do this and I definitely feel like I'm boomswitching outrageously in that regard.

We did a sweat session this morning and it was pretty useful. More than anything it was good to get some clarification on some of my PF ranges. I do feel I messed up slightly by playing 2 tables instead of dropping to just 1 as some of the concepts went over my head, but there were also some golden nuggets of information and different ways of thinking that I'm extremely grateful for. I'm not going to namedrop but if you're reading, you're a legend!

Aside from the coaching I managed to hit my admittedly brief goals for the day, although part of the reason for setting such lowly goals was in preparation for the coaching session. Don't feel like I played well at all but I prob broke even for the day. Also I won't be including the sweat session volume in the goal results, so I've actually played a bit more than will be reported.

H1 - Think jamming river is good vs a rec as we're polarised so can't see 70% or 120% sizings making much difference to their c/c range.

H4 - Kind of gross vs some fishy guy. After the c/min on the turn I was completely unsure about whether to even bet the river. Spidey senses were tingling but I decided it would be too nitty. This player can definitely have some boats (notetracker coincidentally says they've defended K4o before) and might even take this line the the NF.
