man, lost my discipline after that guy called down that bluff, spewed away another 3 BI's and blew up my account. whoops, I always leave ACR feeling disgusted with how nitty the games are... it's miserable online poker with small amounts of money, frustrating but good learning experiences I guess.... =(

at some point, I will make a real 1K deposit and use proper money management etc. just hard for me to get myself to want to do it that way because if I have an extra 1K available to allocate to poker much rather play live... IDK, online poker is frustrating sometimes, after this I'm taking a good break from poker, bback in a couple months....

overall, frustrated I lost my discipline and money management, told myself I would risk 1 BI at $25, made 3 BI's last night playing $25, then spewed away 4 BI's tonight. IDK when I will reload another 50, not anytime soon. ran 50 deposit up to 200 and back to nothing. it was fun playing with all the nits until I lost my discipline tonight. here's where my results are ending for time being.

spins

cash, was really crushing $10 PLO recently and did really well with $25 PLO last night, and was doing okay tonight until bluff didn't get through

one thing's for certain, NLH online micro's from $25 down are just unplayable to me. so nitty. with PLO there's some action with still a lot of nits. I think the online PLO action is closer to the action in live NLH, still live is better but PLO is way more fun than NLH online IMO..

honestly, my discipline this year still sucks. I wanted to improve it this year, and it's been better but still have my lapses. gotta eliminate the lapses fully. I will get there!!!!!

on another note here's my sick new ALI shirt that finally came today =)

loved his mindset and the way he approached life & boxing. when I sit down at the tables I always think to myself I'm the best, obviously it's not always the case but everybody has to have that confidence in themselves, I am aware of players I think are better than me as well, but still have that confidence no matter what.

I decided not to give up. Yesterday and today had deep runs in ACR 1,500 GTD, fields of about 800 people both days. Came in 14th yesterday and final tabled and ended up getting 4th tonight. Pissed, made a couple mistakes at FT when it was down to final 4. Had best seat directly to the left of donk, messed up on a hand where board ran out JJJ3J, nit SB jammed river I called with K high, that really cost me. Then we flipped, my 44 to his AK and he rivered me and I smashed the **** out of my desk. Frustrating, should have won, but I never give up. Here's some key hands at FT

so I only play 1 spin at a time and just went on a 12 BI downswing. pretty sure that's my biggest downswing so far. I punted off like 3-4 BI's by making bluffs that didn't work out. I have to be a lot more selective with my bluffs. I also felt like I wasn't playing my best and was getting sucked out on/losing most flips. From now on my stop is going to be 6 BI downswing and then I take at least a 60 minute break to clear my head. Hate losing so just wanted to win but kept losing, hah. Wasn't tilted at all, I do a good job controlling myself, but I looked at my red line and blue line and saw my red line was negative which made me want to try more bluffs. That was quite a bad idea. Basically was experimenting a little with trying to bluff more and it failed pretty badly.

Will get it back in time but learned to not look at red and blue line at all and to scale way back on my bluffs. Need a good read on villain first to know whether or not I can bluff in spots and what their best folds are. $-24 downswing, I'll get it back. Also, fired like 4 bullets into the 1500 GTD, (3.30 BI's) my new rule for that is 2 BI's max.

BR is at 190 now, will get it to climb back up. The most steady consistent, winning game for me has been $10 PLO. Will start posting my numbers for that monthly. I'll post updated results tonight, then post first of every month after that. Made like another 3 BI's today at $10 PLO.

so instead of 5/5, I started playing 3/5 max 300 BI at the local casino. due to current BR situation

have a pretty good gameplan built around limping a lot of speculative hands that has worked pretty well.

played about 12 hours Saturday and was grinding up my stack from 300 to 500 range. around 12AM a huge donk gambler sat down and started to play crazy and spew. I knew I was going to get into some battles with him and hopefully stack him a couple times.

this hand happens - hand of night, could have walked away with almost 1K - 600 profit for the day if it held. this hand was the worst I have ever been sucked out on in live poker and the craziest thing that has ever happened to me live.

crazy donk straddles UTG for 10

couple limpers in MP.

gets to me in CO with A K

I raise to 40

everybody folds, spew donk calls (EFF stacks 400), me and spew donk heads up to flop, pot about 100

flop: K Q 4

spewdonk checks, I cbet 75, he jams rest of stack. EZ call for me. I call, monster pot of about $820

turn 8 river: 6

spew donk tables 8 4

lol. I wasn't even mad, more amazed that he gifted me that money and ended up sucking out

I was 77% on the flop. rough outcome, worst and craziest beat of my live poker career

Haven't updated in a bit. Currently taking a little break from trading and poker again. I have done okay this year, but to this point the year hasn't gone as well financially in poker and the market as I would have liked. Mainly because I have still struggled at times with discipline. Costed myself a decent bit this year sports wagering. Made some pretty good runs but blew myself up every time not using proper money management. Done with sports wagering until 2017. I ended up having runs on Bovada and busting good sized accounts too much that would have been great for poker on there. Really need to do a better job picking my spots and will likely keep wagering done in a separate account whenever I decide to start again.

Have taken like 4/5 shots at live 5/5 so far and down about 2700 with that.

Roll isn't where I need it to be.

Rest of this month and into August, I'm going to focus on more self-improvement. Plan on tackling Napoleon Hill's Law of Success, over a 600 page monster.

My working out hasn't been as consistent either, but still intermittent fasting and weight sitting at 175.

Going to spend August doing some self-reflection and get ready to ramp up trading and poker into year end so I can end this year in the black for both. I can easily finish this year in the black for both if I have a good last 3 months.

Since I really started focusing on self-improvement about a year ago, I have made some great strides. I still can continue to get better. The great thing is, I am aware of where I need to improve most and will continue to work to get there.

2016 has been a good year for me so far mentally and spiritually and I have really come to realize where I want to be and what I want to be doing. I will write more about that later.

For now, I'm going to crush the Law of Success and do my best to write about what is most powerful to me in that monster. Napoleon Hill is and always will be one of my idols.

Understanding the conscious and subconscious mind is the first step to beginning to get exactly what you want out of life.

Becoming constantly aware of our thoughts and then continuously directing our thoughts towards positive things and the goals we want to accomplish is the next step. Napoleon Hill drives this home so strongly in everything he writes. It's amazing to me that a majority of civilization has absolutely no idea about all of this. This is the type of stuff that should be taught in elementary school and the first thing I am focusing on teaching my kids.

There is only one thing God gave everybody complete control over. That is our thoughts and minds. There is a major reason for this. To the individual that understands how to direct his/her thoughts and mind, absolutely anything is possible. Focus on your definite goal, visualize yourself getting there, repeat your goals audibly daily with complete faith that you will accomplish them and the subconscious begins to manifest. I love self-development/ the mind and look forward to passing this powerful stuff on to my kids.

Mark 11:24

Mark 9:23

Everything you currently have in life and your current situation is a direct result of your past thought patterns and attitude. You attracted everything into your current life with your past thoughts and things will only change for the better if you change your thinking patterns for the better.

Still my overall goal I am working towards is building my nest egg to 50K. Remaining disciplined with my trading and always following my rules/plan and moving from mid stakes live cash & MTT's to high stakes as well as high stakes on Bovada. I really want to play 10/20 NLHE & PLO on Bovada and put in regular hours at 5/5 live.

I know I will get there and I have made some good strides this year.

I also need to start working out regularly again. This will help keep my mind in peak condition as well as my will-power/discipline.

Recently finished a 400 page biography on Jesse Livermore. Book count at 7 for the year, also have read most of Easy Game, but won't count it as 8 until I read it front to cover, highlight things and take notes.

Next monster is Law of Success.

I think 12 books a year is a more realistic goal for me.

from Early Nightingale, who studied and was inspired by Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich

"When we say about 5% achieve success, we have to define success, and here’s the definition. Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal. If a man is working towards a predetermined goal and knows where he is going, that man is a success. If he’s not doing that, he’s a failure. Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal.

Rollo May, the distinguished psychiatrist, wrote a wonderful book called Man’s Search for Himself, and in this book he says the opposite of courage in our society is not cowardness, it is conformity. And there you have the trouble today. It’s conformity. People acting like every one else without knowing why, without knowing where they’re going.

Suppose a farmer had some land and it’s good, fertile land. Now the land gives the farmer a choice. He may plant in that land whatever he chooses, the land doesn’t care. It’s up to the farmer to make the decision. Now remember, we’re comparing the human mind with the land. Because the mind, like the land, doesn’t care what you plant in it. It will return what you plant, but it doesn’t care what you plant.

Invariably, the land will return what is planted. As it is written in the Bible, “as you sow, so shall you reap.” Remember the land doesn’t care. It will return poison in just as wonderful abundance as it will corn. So up comes the two plants: one corn, one poison. Now the human mind is far more fertile, far more incredible and mysterious than the land, but it works the same way. It doesn’t care what we plant. Success? Failure? A concrete worthwhile goal or confusion, misunderstanding, fear, anxiety and so on. But what we plant it will return to us.

You see, the human mind is the last great unexplored continent on the earth. It contains riches beyond our wildest dreams. It will return anything we want to plant. Now, you might say, “but if that’s true, why don’t people use their minds more?” Well I think they’ve figured out an answer to that too. Our mind comes as standard equipment at birth. It’s free and things that are given to us for nothing, we place little value on. Things that we pay money for, we value. The paradox is that exactly the reverse is true. Everything that’s really worthwhile in life came to us free: our mind, our soul, our body, our hopes, our dreams, our ambitions, our intelligence, our love of family and children and friends. All these priceless possessions are free, but the things that cost us money are actually very cheap and can be replaced at any time.

I remember one time I was driving through Arizona and I saw one of those giant earth moving machines roaring along the road at about 35 mph with what looked like 20 tons of dirt in it. A tremendous incredible machine, and there was a little man perched way up on top with the wheel in his hands, guiding it. And as I drove along I was struck by the similarity of that machine to the human mind. Just suppose you’re sitting at the controls of such a vast source of energy. Are you going to sit back and fold your arms and let it run itself into a ditch, or are you going to keep both hands firmly on the wheel and control and direct this power to a specific, worthwhile purpose. It’s up to you. You’re in the driver’s seat."

Outliers was an awesome book. I couldn't stop reading it once I started. Read it in like 3 days. I started Law of Success, it's such a monster. Most of it is review for me because I have read Think and Grow Rich more than once as well as Master Key to Riches. I'm probably not going to read Law of Success front to cover. Will add another book to list here soon. I'm going to start reading some philosophy works by Nietzsche, Aristotle and Plato.

Starting Monday I'm going to grind Lyft super hard for two weeks straight. Want to make some extra money here to build up my roll enough again so I can start risking some of it on poker and trading.

Congratulations on your WPN Sunday Special score! American players do not get as much love as the Pokerstars players do, but I lurk a lot on here and admire your grind. Keep us posted with all of the hard work that you do. The book selection and your work ethic is really admiring.

thanks man I appreciate it! Plan on hopefully coming back to poker late August early September and finishing the year strong. Need to become more consistent, disciplined and finally build rolls that I can consistently grind with on Bovada & ACR as well as live 5/5.

Starting to grind Lyft today for next couple weeks so I can have a nice amount to start playing with again end of month.

I think it's always good to take breaks and reflect which is what I am doing along with reading a lot, while obviously still working my job in finance.

after some more reflection, I decided the best thing for me to do is not waste my time driving Lyft. I make enough from my finance job that I can put away about 1900 a month after expenses. It will just take more time than I would like to be where I want to be, but instead of wasting my time driving Lyft for pennies the next couple of week's I'm going to grind micro's on Bovada. I think I can make more in the next two weeks on Bovada if I put my best foot forward than I would driving Lyft anyways and the best thing is I am doing something I love instead of something I don't enjoy (driving Lyft).

on Friday, I'm going to put in a decent deposit of about $500 and see where it goes.

took a break from poker for a couple weeks, but after thinking about it, I just really don't want to grind Lyft for 35 hours the next two weeks (70 hours total) to make an extra $1200 total about and that's before taxes. just not worth it to me at this point, would rather do what I love and get in some workouts as well. should be fun, will start posting more frequently when I'm grinding again. if I decided to drive Lyft, I would be doing 85 hour work weeks the next two weeks to net an extra $1200 (50 at corporate job 35 for Lyft).

going to make a $500 deposit onto Bovada tomorrow. I am going to stay disciplined the whole time and follow my rules below. Every time I have busted my accounts on Bovada this year was due to bad money management and BR discipline. Going to follow these guidelines and stay disciplined the whole time.

Also, as long as everything goes well and I stay disciplined and follow my rules, I will allow myself to play a live $3 mil guaranteed at Hawaiin Gardens. Buy-in for this big live MTT is $350. Day 1's start in mid-September. Good way to reward myself for staying on progress. Also have to start going to the gym again regularly. Have been doing pretty well with fasting and diet.

Sports Wagering

• Max Risk – 5% of BR/day
• Unit Structure – each unit is 1% (max 5 unit risk/day)
• Every hundred dollar increment, units are adjusted to new number

Cash Games

• Min 20 BI’s required to play 1 table at that stake
• Mostly will only play 1-2 cash games at a time, never will play with more than 5% of roll out at once
• For $25, once roll hits $475 have to move down, same with $50 once roll hits $950, etc

MTT’s

• 5% of BR allowed per day for BI’s
o 10% allowed on Sunday’s only (shot taking at 30K GTD)
• Every hundred dollar increment, BR % is adjusted to new number
• Satellite's - Once a week will attempt to Satellite into 100K Sunday MTT

at the end of every session I will update BR and what my allocation limits are for next day. goal is to bink some nice MTT's and build roll to over 5K
