JUNE

Hey guys, I was away for the most part of June and because I updated fortnightly to begin with I just postponed week 3 to post fortnightly again.

Poker Study

total = 590/1200 minutes. Again, being in Melbourne meant less study for the month but as soon as I got home I got straight back in the lab. I think the study I have done this month has helped improve my game exponentially over previous study. My fluency in interpreting important details and node locking shot through the roof and I have been learning and implementing a tonne of new exploits. Say it every month, but I am so excited to see my WR over the next 200k hands because my game is developing at such a rapid rate.

Meditation

N/A. Didn't meditate once this month. Goes to show if you are not consistent with the practice it just crumbles. Hopefully get back on track in the start of July before my trip.

Mobility

N/A

Weight/Gym

total = 95.2kg --> 92.3kg. Avg weekly loss of 700g. Have been a little less strict with my macro counting in the later weeks but weight loss has been keeping consistent. Abs are almost coming through but only got 1 month untill I leave so leaving it close. Gym sessions have been going really well but I am struggling to recover after workouts given the low calorie/protein intake.

Poker Earnings

total = -$18,381 AUD (-$12,907.44 USD). It finally happened, a losing month The dream is dead, poker is dead, ecosystem is dying, might aswell quit. Very rough month all round losing approx 30bi in 25k hands. Started with losing marginally live, losing infinite on Ignition and finally running below EV. Luckily I was able to recover some at the end of the month on other sites. My volume was absolutely terrible this month because of Melbourne and the amount of reg tables I had to play.

June Recap

A month of poker to forget. A bunch under EV and absurd distribution but these things happened. I remember this time last year when the 60bi -ev downswing happened and how I handled that. I am super lucky as I said in my original post that I got to experience that last year and understand just how bad things can get when they want to. Although massively disappointing and a big hurdle to our goal, I was really easily able to just cop the loss this month and mentally get over it. Just keep getting study and grind volume in and ride the roller coaster. Luckily this month was bolstered with an insane trip to Melbourne with the lads and dipped my toes into what the grind lifestyle will be like out of home next year. I leave for Europe on the 27th of July so not a full month of grinding but I am going to try and play some crazy volume before I go. Now for some sadboi graphs and ugly winrates, glgl in July all

Yeah, June was tough for me as well (subscribed to this thread). I thought I was playing well, but studying exposed a ton of leaks. Not at the level to pio though. GL, hope you catch that up and more over the next couple months.

Just found this - really enjoyed reading.

Do you recommend any training/programs? I play 100-400nl on a super soft site but feel like I am falling behind just playing around in PIO with no structure. I am eyeing something like instaGTO - any thoughts?

Thanks!

Hey man thanks. No idea about InstaGTO. My recommendations is that you fork out the capital and spend it on coaching to become proficient in PIO, it is essential if you want to be able to climb in the current environemnt, but obviously not neccessary for lower stakes or uber soft games.

1st July --> 21st July

Hey guys. The thread has been neglected some love for a while and to be honest its due to a lack of motivation to actually recap my results whilst down-swinging. Here is a 3 week update of July before I head off to Europe next saturday (27th).

Poker Study
Poker study went really well in the beginning 2 weeks. Finished off a big module within BUvsBB and honestly learnt that much about the game from doing these sims that has allowed me to extrapolate it to so many different spots and I feel like im printing. Although down over the last 50kish hands, my BU WR is roughly 37bb/evbb100 which is 100% attributable to this study.

Meditation
N/A. I think I have hit a mid year mini burnout and my motivation across the board has taken a hit due to the downswing. Didn't even really consider meditating throughout this period.

Mobility
N/A

Weight
92.3kg --> ?. Havn't weighed myself in a while. Been gyming regularly still and leaned out a tonne but havn't been consistent with my macros or tracking weight. To guess, I have stayed sat around 92kg.

Poker Earnings
-$4,648 AUD ($3,273.12 USD). Played most of my volume on ignition and some on other sites. Didn't get as many hands as I would have liked due to the study volume and reg tables as per usual. In the later weeks when I dropped study volume I was getting 2.5k hands a day again which was decent. I have mixed feelings about my play this month so far. I think I have improved exponentially in all of the small spots but made some questionable call downs occasionally. Not sure if this is a product of adapting to a new pool/tenancies or poor decision making. Despite these few hiccups I feel intuitively that my level of play is 3 fold of that I was producing at the start of the year, even though I was sun-running and winning then. I truly believe my WR once coming out of this downswing will be well worth all the effort spent grinding sims every morning.

3 week recap
I well and truly need this Europe trip XD Finding myself left very frustrated at the end of most my days this week due to the underlying disappointment of the results which I am experiencing in the short term. I do have to keep reminding myself that I am putting i a lot less volume over a similar period of time compared to the start of the year. Therefore the variance I experience over a month period is going to be much higher. There is no other way to do it than just grind it out, but it is very difficult. Putting in a lot of effort and energy just to receive wat feels like an unjust trade-off. Clearly not a game for you though if you cant push through these tough times. I have done it multiple times and I am going to do it again. But.. just after I get back from some time off. Hope everyone is crushing, glgl

Since beating the pool is relatively easy when a winning player is on his A game and running well, how much you make, your overall WR, and ultimately your career will be largely determined during times like these. GL

Very true. Minimising your bottom line will generally define your profitability
