Well, here goes nothing. Decided to (finally!) give college the finger so I can pursue poker full time. I've come a long way as a poker player in the past year - from a recreational tournament player just 14 months ago, to a live cash game player, to a losing online player, and finally, in the last few months, to a winning online player. I might bore you guys with the details of how I've progressed as a player another time, but for now, onward to victory!

Goals

-10k hands/week online $1/2 and/or $2/4
-Maintain at least 5bb/100 winrate
Current $1/2 WR: 6.84 bb/100 (40k hands)
Current $2/4 WR: 5.86 bb/100 (12k hands)

-Put in $2k volume per month in MTT's
-Actually track my MTT results (too lazy about putting results into my database)
-Play 25 live hours per month at $2/5 (or more when running bad online)

Currently have a five fig bankroll. If all goes well I'm hoping it can be 6 figs sometime in 2018.

So yeah, I think that's it for now. This thread is mostly just for me to keep myself on track with my goals, but I also look forward to only your best trolling

Hey man GL! I'm in my last year of college, but I've pretty much been focusing more on Poker anyway. I hope to get to your position soon. Right now I'm about 2 weeks away from shot taking 50NL. What sites do you play on?

Thanks! I play on Ignition, and pretty rarely on Global Poker. GL finishing college and shot taking 50nl.

Thanks! Any tips on 50NL Ignition? I've been beating 25NL for at least 10bb/100. Is it just as soft? I plan to hit 100NL by the end of summer!

I skipped 25nl and started at 50nl, but I found it to be really soft. Same with 100nl. At 200nl you start running into more regs, but still pretty soft.

Played about 2100 hands today, with maybe 300 at 2/4 and the rest at 1/2. Lost ~$1k.

I had an all in pre for 100bb with AA get cracked by J10s. Very next hand I get AA again and get it in on the flop against a gutshot. Bye Bye 100bb rebuy. Both at 2/4.

...and as I'm typing this a guy donk shoves 2x pot with 99 on a 845 flop, I have KK. I didn't even need to see the river to know... it's a god damn 9. Time to log off. Overall, not a fun first session, but I grinded my way through it. I almost made a profit in EV BB/100 atleast. Tomorrow's a new day.

This was a pretty funny hand:

Today is already shaping up to be another one of those days... Just got 2/3 of my stack in pre with JJ and lost to QJs when the guy got the rest of it in on the flop with a gutshot. I love these fish, but I still can't figure out what it takes to win an all in against them.

Currently breakeven on the day thru 600 hands. Hoping to put in 2k more hands plus play in the nightly 25k and 10k Knockout.

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

Decided to play the 8k guarantee instead of the 25k. Same buyin, smaller field, lower variance. Running hot rn. Tripled up and in first

I'd give my left nut to win an 80-20. Running 10 buyins below ev in the last 2500 hands. lmao

Dropped a cool 17 buyins in 2 days/5k hands. Gunna take a day or two to play live so I can lose a chunk of that bankroll too

Lol. While this is technically true (I'm a quarter from graduating), all of my motivation and passion is for poker right now. This downswing, while ****ty as hell, is nothing unexpected. I'd just rather rant here than put a hole in the wall, but I do need to get my tilt under better control. Usually I'm much better about it, but I've had 2 weeks off playing before these last couple days, so I'm just getting used to the swings again

The good news is that I'm up 2 buy ins this session despite losing AA vs QQ AIPF for 100bb and KK vs AQ AIPF for 100 bb

Why not just finish school if you're almost done? You've only had this thread open a couple of days and it appears you have major issues with tilt, something you're really going to have to work on if you're gonna come anywhere near reaching your potential/goals. GL!

Some family issues unrelated to school are preventing me from finishing right now. I also make more money playing poker than I could at any job my degree could get me.

Like anyone else, I have occasional issues with tilt. But for me, the process of venting after bad beats helps me not go on tilt - I realize how stupid it is to be upset over a few hands, remind myself that every bad run has an end, and I get back to it. I do my best to stop playing and take a break if I feel tilted, which is what I did last night.

Thanks for the reply!

Just finished my first session of the day. I was up a buy in but I got stacked on the very last hand. I had 66 on a AA4 flop, checks through. Turn is a 6, get it in. Villian has AK and rivers a K.

Who cares about the run bad, I'm happy with how I played today. Quick break then on to session 2.

Lol. Where did I say I crushed 50nl? Been several months since I played 50nl, and I never really crushed that stake tbh

Sucks that you get tilted by other people's decisions. gl with that

Second session complete. More of the same. Memorable highlights: got it in with a flopped straight vs middle set and lost, two KK vs AA AIPF losses, got it in with a flopped set against a BDFD and lost, and I got it in with a set of 7s on the flop against AA and he rivered an A. Fun fun times. Besides those five hands I made money though. lol

Profit: -$743.70

I was hoping to grind out a bunch of hands this weekend because I won't be able to play much monday/tuesday, but it looks like I may need a weekend off.

Ended up playing a 3rd session last night that was breakeven through 600ish hands, then I lost a 300bb pot with the 3rd nut full house. (A2 on AA236 board) Called it a night soon after that, down a buyin.

Since I'm running like **** I figured I would play 100nl my first session today. Had some soft tables and ended up finally running decent

This week's results are disgusting - my worst week since January. Most of the losses are at 1/2 but I also lost a couple buyins at 2/4. Not concerned though, I just need to keep focused and grind through it.

Had surgery yesterday so I planned on taking 2 days off, but I couldn't help myself. Was bored and hadn't taken my painkillers yet so I decided to play a quick ~1 hour session. Played 100nl again and found some great tables. Had a fish stack 200bb pre flop with 85s when I had KK, and he even was nice to enough to let me know that he wanted to do a bingo all in before he shoved, lmao.

Hands: 354
Profit: +$368.61

Current 100nl WR: 8.43 BB/100 (18k hands)
Current 200nl WR: 4.57 bb/100 (40k hands)
Current 400nl WR: 5.41 bb/100 (12k hands)

Going to be back to 200nl and 400nl (now 500nl I guess, good move by ignition imo) in the next couple days. Not really a BR issue, besides just not feeling like moving money from my bank to BTC to Ignition. After running so bad I needed to move down to help my mental game, but these last few sessions I'm feeling good, playing focused and on my A game most of the time. Towards the end of that run bad my play definitely suffered, and I identified a few hands that I didn't play optimally (not anything egregious, but there were definitely better lines to take in several hands).

yeah, moving down is always like "oh, look! playmoney"

nice coolers. What I thought lately, and you need to play within your stakes to do this, is just think "this is not gonna change my ROI / BB/100 " I got rivered today nicely, lost 97% pots and stuff like that, but sometimes I can click and say "I am just here to observe how the luck+my playing affects my bankroll, not argue if it should be up or not". Your BB/100 is a result of skill and luck. If you're unlucky, that sucks but tilting also affects your skill, and having less skill while having bad luck is a recipe for brokey.

I mean what if you didn't control your action but like a human bot would be playing and the real you would just observe that. Like a piece of your mind is playing this game, and right before the result come in, you reset that mind (like in 1 hour later, when the tilt is gone, still having information how to improve in this spot). Then the next hand comes and you play like you should, still winning Sklansky-Bucks like hell.

if I look at my downswings and bad beats, they're all within a way larger curve upwards. so if the curve shows upwards, who cares if it goes down between A and B? Unless you're really leaking (like you think 44 is AA and misplay every 44) those spots should print you $$, you just get the money later (like in a job)

guess you will turn it around, keep printing

gl
