Re: satellite84's 2016 MTT Grind...

I let this slide again, although I wasn't putting much volume either. But that all has to change, I have agreed to move back to Toronto either May 1 or June 1 and I need to be grinding proper profits going forward, which means no more ****ing around.

My new schedule is going to be grind online Sunday/Monday and Wednesday/Thursday. Friday and/or Saturday I will be playing live 1-2 at Edgewater to both make extra bank, but also to avoid the temptation to go out and just spend money as much, at least here I can get a cross between social life while still earning. Though, of course if something interesting comes up one of those nights, I'll still go out, but overall I expect it to be +EV. Tuesdays will be a total day off to run errands and so forth.

I also intend to drop 25 pounds for when I move as I will be living with 2-3 buddies and it'll be summer and I want to be in good form for that.

I will post mainly results here for the online stuff, but I will try to post any interesting live hands I think to write down.

I have been running horrible online, worst I think I've ever run over 2+ months, but I keep managing to squeeze out one deep run that keeps me from getting too far into the red, but hopefully I can start running a bit better and really get my year going as it would be nice to have some extra cash to move with.

I expect to grind about 32 MTTs and 8 SNGs per day for my online grind and probably 6-10 hour sessions live depending on flow.

That's it. I'll try to do a weekly and/or review above and beyond my results posts.

Good luck to all the grinders...

Peace!

Thanks bud. I got grinding live almost exclusively and forgot to check back here.

The live grind has been going well, but I am moving back to Ontario next week and I won't have as easy access to live action except on weekends. So it's back to the online thing, and good timing too as SCOOP is coming!

I've played the Sunday Million both the last two weekends for the first time in almost 2 years and managed to cash in both for around $1k total, so not a bad welcome back. It really is a super soft tourney, although I am a bit dead money around the bubble as it is so much higher than my ABI I definitely tighten up more than I would in a regular event to ensure I get the cash first. But I will be concentrating a little more on satelliting in going forward, so the ABI of the event is reduced significantly, allowing me to play it a little less as "scared-money" approaching the bubble.

Anyway, I will try to post in here a bit if I remember. I plan to play tomorrow, though I only have one monitor until I move.

GL grinders!

Re: satellite84's 2016 MTT Grind...

Hey guys,

I know I've been pretty brutal at keeping this up to date, but I've been moving and playing live a bunch and whatnot and just generally lazy about the online thing. Anyway, I've been slowly getting back online lately and today I decided to really get back on a proper grind. I dabbled with 888 and Party over the weekend and although the guarantees are solid, I don't enjoy splitting my bankroll up at the moment and dealing with multiple platforms. It's not necessary until I get a bit higher.

So I threw down 53 events today (+1 on Party I had left from my trial money), about 1/3 was MTTs and 2/3 was a mix of $2.50s and $4.50s. I ran horrendous as I have all year online and took a loss with 2 final tables in the SNGs and no deep runs in the MTTs.

Anyway, I am going to basically stick to this grind every day (I'll take a day off if I need one or on Friday/Saturday if I want to play live). I'm firing up everything late reg. from 830 AM ET at around 10 AM and I fire SNGs until noon, then I let my table count drop until 1 PM when I have lunch, then fire SNGs again from 2 PM until 4 PM and then run out the day until I'm finished. Obviously I play any MTT that fits my range the entire time.

Here's my graph for today, I'll post this after most sessions:

I did put a Phase 2 stack at around 44k on my first try, so that's basically a min-cash locked up there too.

ThreadSavers cause this thread is sad panda... Khloe Terae on a bike!

Re: satellite84's 2016 MTT Grind...

Put in another big volume day with 57 total events. Shipped a $2.50 180 man and final tabled two $4.50s, but finished 5th and 6th after running like complete ass on both. Also had a nice stack going in the new $7.50 1.5K until I lost KQ < K9 and then JJ < 88, then I took a decent line I think to try and steal a multi-way pot that was checked to me twice, but ended up getting tank/called on the river, definitely going to go back and review that hand, but I think it was fine, his hand was just a little stronger than I expected and too strong to fold at this level. Shoved 68s into AQo and lost a round or two later. Profitable day, but nowhere near what I was hoping with the final tables in play. I plan to play two more sessions of this size tomorrow and Thursday and then hit Casino Rama on Friday for some 1/2 and then a Jays game on Saturday before the Sunday Funday grind.

My SCOOP schedule is finalized. I am selling action to the package above and then will be taking the rest of the $7.50s and $11s for myself. The final schedule looks like this:

Plus (9) x $11 Day 1's for the Phase event. Starting to get excited!

Does anybody know how to get rid of the Equity Display on Stars? I can't find it in the menu anywhere and it keeps covering up the numeric value on one of the cards when all-in, which is annoying when mass tabling.

Re: satellite84's 2016 MTT Grind...

Ugh, this was the single biggest day of volume I have put in online ever at 61 games, but also easily the single worst day of all-ins I've ever had. Just got absolutely crushed, managed one 2nd place finish in a $2.50 180-man, but even there got smashed HU after going into it with CL. Anyway, I may take tomorrow off or just play a small afternoon session only and then Rama Friday and completely off Saturday in preparation for the biggest Sunday of the year volume wise.

Re: satellite84's 2016 MTT Grind...

Played a decent 8 hour session at Rama yesterday after taking Thursday off. Made $100 + some dinner/drinks with friends as it will be the last time I see daylight socially until end of SCOOP. I find I am missing some v-bets live these days in spots where I'd often check to induce in MTTs online, but the casual 1/2 players are just never betting in those spots, though they would call with their one pair type hands. Definitely something to work on to add more value to my sessions.

Anyway, I am meal prepping today and watching the Raps game and then getting ready for the big 10 hours of buy-ins tomorrow. Pumped!

GL to everyone playing some events this year!

Re: satellite84's 2016 MTT Grind...

Day 1 in the books. I saw some of the heroes like Asj and t8ofD making Day 2's with nice stacks... that's sexy! Another buddy of mine, Radiihead shipped the Hot $82 early today as well, so good stuff for the grinders.

I managed to slip into Phase 2 with 128k, I tried to get a bit more aggressive in the final round to either chip up more or bust and try again for a better stack, but not to be, so 20bb will have to do. With the $77 bucks I saved for the package, I will likely end up firing an $82 Medium event somewhere.

I also made a deep run in the Mini-Million that just finished in like 138th or something. Just went card dead towards the end, opened a few decent starting hands that I had to let go in multi-way pots after bricking hard and eventually got short and jammed J8ss into QJdd... no love.

Anyway, got the rebuy tomorrow and smaller session around that, so hopefully that goes well.

Peace!

Re: satellite84's 2016 MTT Grind...

Event 07; Busted in 241st.

Had to fold in a spot where I think I got turned and lost about 2/3 of my stack, stole the blinds next hand and then flopped two pair w/ KQ on AKQ board and ripped it in over a cbet, he had AQ.

Cashed for $74.40. My first Day 2 will have to wait I guess. So annoyed right now.

Basically break even day as I only fired 6 timbeys.

Will probably do a fuller session tomorrow around the $11, 100K.

FACK!

Re: satellite84's 2016 MTT Grind...

I did a lot of study last night on the key hand that lead to me having to shove with KQ-two pair and I have concluded I made a poor bet on the turn, which if I hadn't made and simply check/folded, I would have been in a completely different spot two hands later with the KQ.

First off, I was probably playing the best I'd ever played. I was single tabling for a lot of it and was fully focused and picking up a lot of good spots... and that was good cause I was fairly card dead save for one double up midway through with QQ v. JJ.

A few hand examples of spots I picked up with either air or at best semi-bluff equity:

A9o BvB
89o Blind Defense
A8o Semi-Bluff Shove
J7s Blind Defense Semi-Bluff Shove

I was definitely feeling good about my table reads...

The hand I messed up was a guy playing 32/24 over about 85 hands opened from HJ on my SB; he had me slightly covered and I was at about 670k.

I 3bet w/ 69hh as he had 100% Fold to 3bet % and I hadn't been abusing him in anyway so far, so it seemed a good spot to re-pop.

He tanked, and called.

Flop came 6s3s8h, so actually not a terrible flop for me...

I cbet round 45% pot... again, he tanked called...

Here is where I should've check/folded on any turn that didn't improve my hand... turn was a 5s... just a horrible card, technically I pick up a straight draw, but with 3 spades on board, it's useless.

If I check/fold here, I still have 440k+ at bb16k and am in fine shape with the long blind levels.

But I tried to fire again about 165k and he fairly quickly shoved on me, forcing a fold with about 18bb left. Hence why after flatting pre with KQ and flopping 2 pair, I basically had to ship on the cbet. If I had been deeper, I'd have either mucked the KQ pre or played it slowly on the flop and lost minimum given the texture of the board.

Anyway, it's a good start to the Series and I'm very happy with how I played overall and I will learn from my mistake and play even better next deep run.

----

Big session today planned with two more SCOOP-L events, including a Mixed NLHE/PLO event which should be fun and of course the $11, 100k.

J7s x/r is possible, would just gii now after he 3b flop, allowing him to realise equity with his bluff (which will usually be 2 overcards) doesn't seem appealing to me, and we have about +- 35% equity vs his value gii range. Turn is whatever, looks a lot like what your hand exactly is, but perhaps mandatory donkshove with so much equity, even though you are repping ****

Obviously, these were all read dependent plays...

This, I agree, was the best played hand. SB had been limping all his weak hands BvB and then check/calling whenever he hit anything, his bets typically represented misses and I felt my range was just fat with possible hands that I'd get an easy fold and as you say I'm firing a lot of rivers.

Quote:

Yah, this was spewy. Looking back on it, I agree. At the time, the guy was just abusing the table and I guess I decided to get hard headed about it and got lucky he folded the river.

Quote:

This was vs. IGrindThat; I knew his c/r was coming as we were nearing the bubble and I assumed he'd pressure me... my hand wasn't completely dead vs. anything he might call me with and I just felt I was getting a very high % of folds here on the bubble.

I agree completely looking back on it now, should've jammed on flop. Not sure why I thought call/jam turn was the way to go at the time as it seems stupid now, but I was never not jamming turn as I recall, but you're right, I do totally allow him to realize his bluff equity...

Thanks for the responses...

Re: satellite84's 2016 MTT Grind...

Another silly day of running uber stupid in important spots. And constantly smashing big pairs and AK into AA mostly or occasionally KK... and it's not even against nitty guys where you kind of expect it, it's against guys running like 30/25 and shiz where I'm feeling good about getting it in with my QQ or whatever... and it's always immediately after hitting the money, so I'm managing 10 cashes (the 11th was a 20bb stack I put into Phase 2 on Sunday), but still losing $75 for the day.

Best one was having a 48k stack with 10 to go in a 4.50 and flopping a set v. one pair and having him run me down K turn K river to make a bigger boat and cripple me to finishing 9th... anyway, I may take tomorrow off as there is no SCOOP I care about or I may fire a half session in the afternoon if I'm feeling up for it.

Re: satellite84's 2016 MTT Grind...

Basically took yesterday off, I did play the $7.50 Hyper SCOOP... got one bounty and bubbled in a 3 way all-in pre-flop for around 200k... Ax9c v Kx10x v Jx7c... board... 10cQc3xAc... looking good... and then... 10 ball and I was done.

I am going to be raising up my ABI a bit in MTTs, I'm basically going to be dropping the regular speed micros as the fields are huge and the events are long and the min-cashes are pathetic and I've had plenty of success in the low stakes to bottom of mid-stakes range already, so I'm going to continue playing the micro turbos as they are good space filler and I will also continue to play $4.50 SNGs for the time being, but my regular MTTs are going to be $5.50-$22 now with some $27s and $33s for the Majors and SCOOPs and other special events. Overall ABI should go from around $4.50 to $7.75.

Anyway, $11 PSKO today for SCOOP and a session around it, GL to the heroes who are grinding.

Here is another Lina Posada, arguably the most perfect woman on Earth imho...
