Care to share your Setup? Since "fts" aren´t highlighted i feel they are very hard to masstable unless you tile, which my old eyes cant do anymore
Looking at the Info Tab also doesnt seem cool every decision you make.
Anyway: best of luck

Its a pretty decent run, downhills followed by uphills. Am pretty embarassed i couldnt beat an 8 min pace but ive been super unhealthy here lately so i think i should see results pretty quick. Just on this run i was doing my best pace on the last hill and flat ending.

App is called runkeeper if anyone is looking for a free jogging up.

Gl everyone tmrw
Did this earlier in the week. Really had to push myself. Cant believe it was this hard to break a 8 min pace, but i am way fatter than i was when i last was regularly jogging

Had a pretty nice kick up the final hill to make it. Ive only had two drinks in the last 3 weeks, and have been eating way better and working out pretty hard. So im hoping I can keep improving.

Will do a big post on tuesday to answer everyone's questions and start my longer post on ways to help increase your session length. Im planning on breaking it up into 3 parts. Physical, mental and emotional.

Keep wanting to make the post but ive keep getting stuck 1 tabling mtts to final 3 tables finishes...

Good luck tmrw to everyone and will post some new freerolls this week

I think I remember your threads from around the last time I was posting with you really pushing to hit SNE.

Gl with all the fitness stuff. I hate running with a passion and find treadmills much easier as I can just set the pace and zone out. Recently found sitting on a bike in a gym playing chess makes 30min sessions a piece of piss.

I sit on the bike in the gym and play 9 man STT turbo KO on Stars on my IPad, five at a time. Excellent way of killing 45 minutes as long as you remember you are achieving absolutely sweet FA in terms of fitness

Gotta move those weights if you wanna get fitter/stronger/healthier (unfortunately )

Im starting to do a little bit longer run. Did a 2.3 mile run on the beach and occasionally do a 2.1 mile run (with a 1 minute rest at the atm in the middle.

Back when i was in my early 20s and really getting at it Id do like 5 3-4 mile runs a week. Im a lot heavier nowadays and my joints are worse so putting that kind of pounding on my body doesnt seem that smart. Ive recently starting doing High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) a lot more than old school cardio. Ill talk about that a bit in my next post.

Im the same way. Tiling on a giant screen (or across multiple like some people) are just hell on your eyes and neck. I just have 4 stacks and move tables to my ft stack once i get HU at the first table of 16m. Heres what my screen looks like.

Hopefully those charts are too blurry to read but if not can someone lmk so i can black them out.

It's pretty crowded and having to click to bring up the lobby every 45 seconds can get annoying but Im used to it by now.

I took down my grind setup cause a 2 yo was just here, but you can kinda see it in that pic. I have my main grind comps and then a latop on each side and a smallish monitor above. Charts and similar on two of the screen and then (when im not listening to music or a podcast) Netflix or NBA on the 3rd screen.

Yeah that sne run was hell lol. Im definitey with you on that. It's crazy how much more quickly your workout sessions go when you have a game or two on a tablet. Ill sometimes put my last mtt on the tablet and get on the bike or treadmill at the gym. I actually busted on the 2nd to last table of the triple threat on the bike at the local gym one time lol.

Yeah youre mostly right, though when youre super out of shape, 45 min of light cardio followed by 20 minutes of stretching is a pretty good start on the road to getting in shape. Getting my kettle Bell and medicine ball have really opened up my eyes .

I guess ill build on that though and start my next post with some of my indoor workouts.

So ill do a post on some exercise techniques and then post my broad thoughts about the importance of proper diet and exercise to pro poker players.

This is the stuff i use to work out. Nothing too fancy but there's a ton of different stuff i can do.

For the novices, that orange thing is a 20lb kettle bell, the grey ball is a 6lb medicine ball and then i have those squeezy grip things and gloves.

Kettle bells are super legit. You can do all the normal curls and shoulder and tricep stuff youd do with a normal dumbbell. But then you can also do more explosive movements that work out your core. You can find tons of workouts on line. I might take a video of some of my common ones at some point.

Same with the medicine ball. This video (start at 140) shows some good ones

For the grip stuff you pretty much just squeeze it but i think this is super important for poker players. Especially people like me who use hotkeys for almost everything.

I talked about HIIT in the last past. Im not super knowledgeable on it but my understanding is that it is doing something at a medium to high intensity for 30 to 60 seconds, and following it by 30 to 60 seconds of low intensity or rest. And repeating that for 10 to 20 minutes. Doing something like this is a way more efficient way to burn fat that just jogging or biking for the same amount of time. This is super simplistic and geared more for beginners. But in general i believe working out like this is a lot more efficient than old school cardio.

So like if you have a hill near you, run up the hill at a moderate to high speed, and then jog or walk part way down. You can even do it with simple exercises. Do 50 jumping jacks then rest for 30 seconds. Then do 25 pushups and rest. Then do 24 toe touches. Obv as your fitness increases youll want to up your tempo and number done for these more simple exercises.

I took some gifs of some of the I do. Those side jump things are tiring as ****.

idk how to post inline gifs on here so ill just post the imgur links

https://i.imgur.com/kDEICUi.gifv

https://i.imgur.com/H560s4b.gifv

Ill prob post more about workout stuff and feel free to ask any questions. Just need to cut it short tonight.

So anyone who knows me will think it's hilarious that Im writing a post about how to live a healthy balanced life. I've wasted a lot of my poker potential drinking and doing drugs. And I've yoyoed between semihealthy and overweight lazy slob. So there should definitely be a "do as I say not as I do" preface to my advice. I will also add that these suggestions are based on me and my experience. I've known some players that party all night and wake up and grind 12 hours without losing much off their A game. I also am a person who worked normal jobs for almost a decade before I started my poker career. So some of my suggestions on how to mentally approach a poker career might not pertain to people who have been playing professionally since their teenage years.

As I said before I will break my advice into 3 different sections; physical, mental and emotional. These are just arbitrary divisions. Tilt can be caused by all 3 factors. Exercise and healthy eating can help you with all 3 aspects. I just needed some kind of dividers. In this post I will focus on the physical aspect. That mainly being diet and exercise.

There can be some debate on whether or not poker is a "sport", but no rational person will claim that poker players are professional athletes. But there are some similarities that the two professions have. Namely that your raw earnings (not including sponsorships) come from your ability. This sets them apart from most professions where who you know, how well you network and how well you negotiate with HR determines how much money you make. Because of this, bringing your A game every single day you work/compete is more important in poker than it is in normal jobs.

Those of you who have worked them will probably have similar experiences to me. You start the new job super motivated to show what you can do and excel. Maybe some extra motivation of not wanting to screw up and get fired. But after you've gotten through the probationary period without being fired, and have figured out that effort doesnt equal compensation, you start doing enough just to get by without getting negatively noticed, or divert you effort from doing the actual job to networking for raises and promotions. I think it's natural for people to start coasting once they've obtained some security in a job. But this can be a real trap in poker.

When you're first starting a new job you might wake up a few hours before, eat a nice breakfast, have your clothes perfectly ironed and spend half an hour making sure youre prepared for everything youre gonna face that day. But as you get more time in you start waking up later and later and caring less and less about preperation. In a normal job where (again) effort and compensation arent 1:1, this isnt that big of a problem. But think about this from an athlete's point a view. You go from eating a healthy breakfast, properly stretching and reviewing your assignment for the day to just rolling yourself out there and seeing what happens. You performance is going to suffer and your income along with it.

I write all this to back up the importance of what I will talk about in this post. In my experience, waking up 60 to 90 minutes before my session has greatly improved my ability to play longer sessions and my ability to focus during them. I'll give an overview of my normal pregrind routine.

Usually Ill wake up about 60 to 90 minutes before i want to start. Drink a probiotic and make coffee. Then ill do 15 to 20 minutes of exercise and stretching. For those that dont know, you want to do the movement stuff to warm up your muscles before stretching. After long runs ill usually try and stretch out everything but pre grind i focus on my hands, arms, back, shoulders and neck. Those along with your eyes (and brain i guess) are you moneymakers in poker so you have to take care of them. For workouts like this I like to follow the HIIT method I talked about earlier. For example 50 jumping jacks then 30 seconds rest. 25 pushups then rest. 30 toe touches then rest. repeat 3x. during the rest i can get my grind station set up or pour the coffee or get stuff ready ready for breakfast. After that ill make breakfast and usually get my salad made at the same time. Ive usually made my other meal the night before. While i eat ill do maybe 15 to 20 minutes of study. Just review a few hands or lookover some of the charts. Just something to get my mind warmed up to poker. Then ill brush my teeth, shower and get dressed in something comfy and do a few more minutes of stretches before i sit down and get ready to grind. Speaking of clothing, i had always been someone who would just buy super cheap socks, boxers and tshirts. And probably hold onto them for too long before buying new ones. But recently I've started upgrading and it has been well worth it. Especially while youre playing. Having some tag that's itching you or boxers that are riding up just isnt worth saving a few bucks when youre sitting there all day making decisions for large amounts of money. Buy some comfy clothes, slippers and maybe even a robe.

As far as food goes, keep your portions on the smaller side and dont eat anything too heavy/high in sugar and carbs. Food and drink affect your body like drugs do and when youre grinding longer sessions you want to try and keep yourself on a neutral level. The burst of energy you get from something high is sugar is gonna be followed by low energy drop. In a similar vein, start using caffeine more strategically. It can be a very effective grind aide if used correctly. Especially coffee witch has other benefits other than just the caffeine. But it will be most effective if used sparingly outside playing. I'll usually have about 20 oz of strong coffee and diet soda with my bfast, along with an energy drink mid session, but aside from that i try to stay away from caffeine. Especially in the mid to late afternoon where it could start to affect your sleep. Caffeine really is a wonder drug but if youre slamming it all day everyday it will lose its effectiveness.

Ill definitely post some more food stuff later and talk about nutrition in later posts. Gonna cut this one short as i still have laundry to fold and food to make and wanna go over a few hands.

Im gonna talk about yoga and meditation in a later post but just wanted to drop this vid here for anyone that in interested in a taking a first step. Its a super basic vid but i think doing this twice a week, preferably before your sessions, will be well worth it for people who arent that active. Starting the day relaxed and limber will show benefits throughout the day. If you start your session stiff, youre gonna sit poorly which is gonna lead to more stiffness and soreness which is gonna affect your play which is gonna affect your mood, etc.

The dudes voice and music is a bit lame but i think this is the best video for people starting basically from nothing.

Hey man. Obv recognize your name. Ive ran good at CD for the 37.50s and game select more than other top 6m regs. Im also just naturally better at that format than i am 16m i think. Almost completely pushfold with icm considerations in 6m. The hu part of the 16m is for sure holding me back
