I looked from some GTOrb stuff from the first package: GTO Flop C-betting Defense.

Played a 70 buy in, cashed for 100 (Lmao), so small profit. I really should've won, but busted when JT shove SB into my AT, then flops J. Today was such a good spot too, 2k prize pool, 900 for first, 70 buy in, 16 players (not even enough players to make the guarantee). I only have to beat such a small field each time to get such a high amount.

Playing a 110 buy in local main event, it's 15k guaranteed and looking at 7k for first, so not too bad for a day's work (if I can win :P). So I'll try to get a good night's sleep first

I will post some summaries for what I learnt from GTOrb probably on Sunday, but won't go into detail too much, still free EV for any followers of this thread (If there's still any :P)

Ugh, busted the 110. Made a big fold, folded QT, on J98J after villian flat SB's turn lead then bombs over the top of my raise on BTN. Basically when Villain takes a line like this I never think he's bluffing and I'm not sure how often he just calls with boat. Then it turns out he's just overplaying top trips AJ. Next hand I run straight into boat next hand and half stack left. I ended up busting later when an open ended straight draw calls my shove and gets there. Then walked around in the scorching sun trying to find the nearest train station to get home.

Had a free session with a guy from Florida. Talked about some SPR concepts and went through stuff with my betsizing etc.

Also talked about some interesting hands, e.g. went through the idea of doing something unorthodox, e.g. c/r KK on A36Q to fold Ax maybe like 10% of the time, just to make my play more unpredictable. Not sure what I think about that.

Back from the selfban guys

So I blew some money on random things like taxi cabs and busted a few pub games and abit below BE for 25z.

I have uni assessments now so can't focus so much on poker until semester is over.

Seen a couple of my friends get rekt by live MTT variance to varying degrees and it can be f-ing brutal really.

I think I'm done with most live pub games, even with small field size, you still go to shove-fold with like 5bb stacks after a few hours, so structure is hyper as fk. I played pretty spewy most of the times and usually have fluctuating stacks, but doesn't really matter in these sh*tty structures. I thought a few of the 2k GTD were good value, but they were pretty sh*t too.

Hoping to play some bigger events after the semester and hit a legit score for once. But will also play some decent full day games. Running it up in some live cash is also the part of the plan.

Leaks to address after exams when I get back into poker:

- waste too much time being involved with busto degens, only even spending time with them because my constant need for social interaction and attention

- general spewiness and tilt/mental game issues

- can't keep my mouth shut at the tables, need to work on a proper table presence, ego issues: justifying my plays to fishes

- disorganisation, procrastination and general health and life leaks

- motivation issues for grinding, need to work on that and grind properly instead of chasing degen flippaments

contd.

- FPS in trivial spots, trying to be a hero to the point where I'm essentially a POW.

- Unrealistic expectations, trying to achieve financial goals in a time-frame puts extra pressure affecting play (constantly at C- game at best)

Hey guys I'm back, most of my exams are done (one left on the 17th so no biggy)

I haven't cashed much I think after a few flippaments... Also just found out I have around 600AUD left on my student savings acc which is hugely tilting, I punted off hundreds in taxi cab fees and degen, also I think my government assistance payment has stopped so I have to check up on that tmmr.

So this is my schedule for november...

- Play 20k hands min on 25z (I don't want to burn out for 2016, going for an SN run in January... hopefully with at least 50z

- Study NL at least two hours a day

November Live tournament Schedule

My schedule this month consist of some 2-3 table fields and monthly finals

- 55+55A PLO on 6/11

- 50+30A 5k GTD on 7/11

- 50 BI 1.5k GTD on 9/11

- 60+50A 8k GTD on 14/11

- 110 BI 5k GTD on 15/11

- 50 BI 1.5k GTD on 16/11

- 330 BI Opening Event 26/11 and/or 27/11 (Whether I decide to play two bullets will depend on how I go in the month before then and whether I sell action or not.)

So it has been a pretty degen weekend, played cash and a bunch of hyper turbo live games. Basically played poker the days straight… The PLO game on Friday got this week cancelled so pretty annoyed by that.

On, Saturday, I played a $37 buy in, 2k prizepool game and ended up cashing for $150 which is kind of annoying. (TT on SB < QQ 10bb shove UTG five handed). Then I headed to my friend’s place and grind a few hours online and reviewing hands with pokersnowie. Next I headed to the 5k GTD monthly and busted AK v 66 for 20bbs aip. Structure is kind of **** so what do you expect.

Next, me and my friend who also played the monthly headed down to casino to play cash. Met up with a German guy who I talked to on fb and we ended up playing 1/3 PLO. Games was super degen and everyone was fish (bad hand selection, play horrible postflop and drawing dead). Stacks were deep (3k+!) despite 1/3 blinds and people were stacking off marginals for like 700bb+ (wtf). I managed to gii with massive wrap + pair v fish with only one pair and ran it up to like $600. Then headed to some 2/5 NL game which was super fishy and have donks overbet for no reason drawing dead. Won abit of there, but game died quickly and it went to HU with my german friend and almost hero-ed him with K-high was the worse blockers (blocking bricked draws) but decided not to be a degen. We played to like 6am. We then catched the taxi home with my friend from the monthly and had a few hours of sleep.

Woke up then headed to play some game near the university, was like a $40 buy in, very bad structure and I cashed for like 55$ (lol fail), jamming A6o otb for like 6 bigs v AJ on BB 4 handed. Me and my friend then headed down to a $55 buy in which I heard was very good value (a 3k GTD prizepool with like a 1k overlay), players were tight and passive so soft table, but like most games here it got to shove fold and I went in 77 v AQ aip, only for him to river an ace, so gg. But the buy in comes with a free meal so can’t be that bad. Apparently this game runs on tue and sun so I might play this in the future…

Overall I’m not up much this weekend (hundred or two) especially because I backed my friend into every tournament and he busted out of them (#rip) and he’s near 250 in make up after this weekend.

Played a 50 buy in 1.5k GTD with a $800 overlay (!). Small fields and soft tables, people donking off. I got lucky late tho with QQ v AA. Had a massive stack and bullied the final table, 3betting junk and rekting (lol degen) as I abused bubble. Got to HU with 4-1 chip lead, but effective is like 10bb or so. Had some live tells which allowed me to avoid jamming some hands I shoulda jammed. Nevertheless I lost a 40/60 and last hand I 3 bet shoved on the river against a polarised range and ran into the nuts. RIP. so only $350 and a ticket to another game...

Self banning myself this week due to an exam on the 17th. Playing the PLO game this friday and the 8k GTD this saturday. I'm still 50/50 on the 5k GTD on sunday and the 1.5k GTD on monday (depends how much study I get done by then).

Busted on the FT of a 2k GTD, 99 < AA, played my b game today, did some really ****** **** with limping AA based on a live tell, didn't work out well. Ran it back up before busting ft. I only played because I thought there was gonna be a huge overlay but there wasn't. Pretty tilted so not playing the PLO tomorrow, only playing the 8k GTD this saturday. Not sure bout monday (unlikely)...

2p2 haven't banned me yet, despite my request (lol). Playing the 8k GTD tournament (likely 10k+ prizepool and 4k+ for first). Likely playing NL/PLO cash at cas or NL homegame cash afterwards if I bust (haven't decided yet)...

Hey guys, backed after self ban... So I just chopped a live PLO tourny, most of them are ******ed and don't know what they are doing.

Zoom is up and down, losing some stacks due to tilt. Also noticed some weird stats and leak after briefly going through my HUD. I'll try to spend the week going through GTO/exploitative ranges and my game plan before jumping back onto the tables.

Will also work with some people on some mtt theory in preparing for some big live tournaments (opening series at the cas)

Been a pretty crazy week, after finish exams I played alot at the casino...
up a few hundred owning regs and fishes alike. I owned some fishes in a few interesting spots after understanding their unbalanced ranges (betsizing tells, donk betting) and also with the use of some live tell. E.g. I range merged with 99 on a tellbox on Q8Q4J, where I put him on 8x. I also levelled a bunch of regs in some spots where I double check to induce, or checking back/not c-betting some hands I usually cbet (some draws and top pairs) etc.

I worked on playing a pretty nitty and low variance style and hope things will go well. I would've been up alot more, but I noticed when I'm up I play abit more loose and much more like my online game. I lost a few hundreds in making plays and barreling against fishes and I think this is something I could avoid in the future and just focus on the low variance easy value bet spots.

So I will be setting up a live schedule very soon and allocating my time effectively to balance study and playing as well as lifestyle things.

So ran up around 1k ish in live 2/3 cash at the cas, took photo midway in session. Mostly played solid and patient. Did have a few big calls against tilting fish like calling a shove with tptk and made a few soul read fold (didnt c bet and check folded tptk which is super crayyy because of live tell). Also did well in a few high variance all in pot (KK v AJ) and ran quite well except for a few small suck outs.

Fixed my mental game abit, staying focused and not going too splashy when I'm up, also went into a few reg battles (but live cash regs are harmless).

Today was pretty much breakeven after expenses (food and travel). Was up near a buy in at some point, but went abit aggro and lead turn with pair + draw to create fold equity v some shortie (was sure I had no SD value yet), but ran into the nuts. Also peeled alot of 5x raises with speculatives in family pot hoping to stack off with nuts but missed every flop and pretty card dead. Was down maybe 150 at some point but gii on flop with flush draw + one over and binked the ace on the turn to save the session.

Mostly played my C game today after losing some chips which is not good and I need to address that for the future.

Game Plan

This week I feel will be very profitable because of the upcoming tournament series.

My game plan for the live cash games are nut peddling mostly and thin value bet against some regs (increase my hourly). Will mainly be playing 2/3 (and maybe some 2/5 and 1/3 plo if I'm up alot). I think all the big pots I lost are really from bluffs (not sure if I'm breakeven overall from bluffs) so I don't think bluffing is ever worth it and I could've been up alot more.

Other things to work on is my tilt. I start playing abit looser (trying to see more flops) and more high variance if I'm down or up alot, and I think thats not very good and I should just focus on my nit game. If I feel I can play my patient A game, I should leave table and take a break. Another thing to work on is my live presences, I'm hoping to tone down my table talk and be less social (I naturally talk too much and that's something I want to work on), being less friendly means I get looked up more which = more value imo.

I'm devising a system where basically every time I do something spewy or not right, I get a strike. Three strikes and I'll leave the table and take a break.

Good luck.

After reading through this you've said about 100 times that you're going to stop playing these live pub games that play like hyper turbos yet you still seem to play them non-stop.

Honestly speaking even with super soft fields, live tournaments under $200 are likely a complete waste of your time due to insanely low hourly.

Stick to 25 NL Zoom, live cash, and thr bigger monthly MTT's IMO.

@BAEVentures u r quite correct, the hourly is very poor for most pub games, I've been more selective and playing only really good ones, e.g. ones where only 1 table turn up and TD is forced to pay the garanteed prizepool with big overlay. In alot of these games, the organisers are losing money. Also late regoing also increase ur hourly because the blinds are so fast it doesn't matter if u play the early levels. I did some hourly calculations and realise some games can give a decent hourly (like that PLO game where everyone knocks each other out and you can literally fold to top 3)... But I would only play pub now if its with friends or I can't get to the casino on that day.

Why not play online those days you can't get to the pub and earn your expected ~$12 per hour playing 25 NL Zoom (assuming 600 hands/hour @ 8bb /100)? Not only do you save travel expense, time, eating out, you're certainly earning a higher hourly and increasing your long term potential earnings by beating the games at a decent clip so you could eventually move up in stakes.

That's probably a good way to look at it. I think I'll do that, so I'll basically skip any game with too many runners and only play the one or two table fields which I top 3 almost every time.

Played a pretty good value game (1.5k GTD only 2 tables), squeeze 98s, flop OESD, raised donk bet, jam turn, got called by 2nd pair, nuff said. #rip

Ready to head to cas 2/3 tomorrow to grind.
