I just gotta make a quick call and get my card re activated, usually takes me 10 minutes (I have to make this call at least once every 1-2 weeks so I'm used to it). I call, wait a few minutes on hold, get through to the security department, and they tell me that my card can't be re activated until I speak with a senior security consultant. I said ok, connect me. Oh sorry sir, they don't come into work until 7am. I said put me through to the most senior supervisor you have. So she does, and he tells me the same ****: we can't unblock your card until you speak with a senior security consultant.

So I try to explain my situation, that I already called earlier to authorize this transaction, that I need this money for work and I can't sit around waiting until 7 am, etc. Doesn't make any difference, he can't unblock the card. I said take a look at when I opened my bank account; it was less than a month ago. I changed banks for this exact reason. And now, my new bank has lost me as a customer. Next time I'm in the states I'm closing my account with them. Wish I could tell the banks to **** off and just keep everything in cash but it isn't really feasible.

called my bank today and the lady on the phone says, "what card restriction? your card isn't blocked" I ask her to transfer me to a senior security consultant so I can confirm, and after waiting on hold the call dropped for the third time today. i'm gunna put my head thru a ****ing wall. down to my last $20 lmao, hopefully can convince my bank to let me have my money because after today I won't have enough for gas to get back to the states. guess worst case scenario I just go to a btc atm in tijuana

finally got through to my bank. guess what they told me? "your card isn't blocked sir. it never was."

are you ****ing joking? Then why did my atm withdrawal get declined, and why did your security team insist they couldn't unblock my card?

"well, it looks the atm transaction was reversed, not declined. That means it's likely the ATM just didn't have enough cash on hand to complete the transaction."

ffs, really? The atm just gave me the standard "transaction decline, call the security department" screen. and the security department that night was apparently too dumb to figure out that my card wasn't even blocked in the first place, all I had to do was go to a different atm. god damn it man what a waste of a night. all I had to do was try a different atm and I would've had my cash and been playing some 5/10

To be fair, they weren't wrong that they couldn't unblock the card

I assume now every time you phone up about your card being blocked your play is to say "is my card blocked?".

can't remember exactly what I said, but I remember I said something along the lines of,

I just tried to use an atm and the withdrawal was declined. I called earlier to authorize this withdrawal, so can you please take a look at what's going on.

and they said something like: ok, give me a minute blah blah. looks like you just attempted a withdrawal at blah blah place for x amount, is that correct. ok, it was flagged as a suspicious transaction, let me go ahead and remove the block now. *2 minutes go by* actually, it looks like the hold has been placed by a senior security advisor, you'll need to speak with one of them.

so I say ok, lets do it.

actually, their hours are different than ours. you'll need to call back in the morning

so yeah, idk why I got told all of that if the issue was just the atm. either the person I spoke to today was wrong, or they were wrong that night. And the lady today was actually very helpful, knew her ****, and she called me back immediately when we got disconnected (which none of the other reps ever do)

meh, I'd rather not have 3-4k sitting around my condo but I doubt it's a huge risk with all the private security here.

back in the streets today, looking to put in 12 hours of iggy volume or at least 2500 hands. if you see me out there, just know I don't really fold

just took a look at my rake paid for the first time in a while. I'm paying 6bb/100 at 200nl, and 4bb/100 at 500nl, I really need to move up to 500 full time. My total rake paid is within 2k of my total winnings

Gotta get up to 1k imo. Paying a bit more than 2.5 bb/100 there. Pretty crazy that at 5x the stake it's only like double the $/hand in rake

currently have a -3bb/100 loss rate in the small blind at 200nl that I'm pretty proud of (though tbf it's still a small sample)

What kind of sample are we talking about, and have you checked it after adjusting it to 3+ players? Lots of table starting can really skew that number

weird, when I filter for 3+ players my loss rate is only -1.95bb/100 at 200nl. sample is only 10k hands though. at all stakes I have 22k hands in the sb and I'm -11.77bb/100. Gotta work on my bb though: -41.64bb/100

Ah, yeah. Just a major sample size issue then. Must be very few hands HU for example to have a negative winrate in sb/btn there

yeah just 1k hands heads up and I'm doing better in the bb so far. major sample issues. I play a lot of FR because my winrate is 9bb/100 there, so I play very little headsup/short

had the itch to play live still so I drove up to LA last night to play some 5/10. At the border when I was the next car up the guy initially waved me up, then he made eye contact, put up his hand for me to stop, got on his phone and another border guard came over. Then they waved me up and the first thing the other guard says is, "follow me you're going to secondary". ffs. this time they were nice enough not to arrest me. Although I was still treated different than everyone else in secondary. They told me to stand next to a table while they searched, which is what they tell everyone to do. So as I'm standing there watching one of the guards tells me I have to turn around and not watch them search, and I have to keep my hands flat on the table the entire time. 2 feet away a couple was sitting on their table making out while their car was searched, yet I'm getting nazi'd around like a ****ing puppet.

after 30 min of standing in the same spot, hands flat on a ****ing table they tell me I'm good to go. As I'm getting into my car to leave the guard who arrested me on monday walks up to me and says, "hey don't I know you from somewhere?"

"yeah, you arrested me on monday"
"oh, what for?"
"Good question, I tried asking you a dozen different times. You ended up letting me go without telling me"
"I don't remember that. Are you sure I don't know you from somewhere else?"

jfc I wanted to sucker punch that idiot

anyyyyyyway, I had a few interesting hands to write up but tbh I just don't feel like it. I'll just write up my last hand of the night/biggest pot of my poker career

So I've been playing 8 hours of 5/10 at this point, fairly card dead and down most of the night. However, I had just won a couple big pots and had ~3100 in front of me, though I was already in the game for 3800.

UTG opens to 35, CO calls, I look down at AA on the button and make it 145. UTG repops it to 480 (he has me covered). CO tanks (wtf?) and folds. I call (never 5betting anything here) Pot: ~1000

Flop JT9r. UTG checks, I bet 450, UTG quickly calls. Pot: 1900
Turn 9x. UTG checks, I shove 2150. UTG tanks for a few minutes. while he's in the tank I'm already celebrating in my head, and I remind myself halfway through his tank that even though I'm always good he's always live, and when he calls I better be prepared to lose this pot. He eventually makes the call, and before I even notice he called the dealer binks him off his K for the full house and he scoops a $6200 pot. just like that my networth swung 20%. even though I was mentally prepared to lose the pot, this one is gunna sting for a couple days. I really wish they allowed running it twice

You play mostly at Commerce when in LA right? I would recommend opening a players bank and keeping cash on deposit there.

Won’t have to worry about your card being blocked or carrying cash.
