Pokerstars is kinda dead at night (PST) so I decided to 4 tables stars 100nl and 4 table ignition, two 500nl and two 200nl. I won 1 buyin on stars over 800 hands, won a little over 1 buyin at 500nl over 500 hands, and won 1 buyin over 400 hands at 200nl. Feels nice to have a little run good back.

Total results today:

~5000 hands, +$1350

So you played fullring and youre surprised by the level of play?

Either way, nice results!

I didn't say I played full ring lol. Did you see me on the tables? People always say stars is so tough so I expected even FR to be fairly tough at 100nl

Thanks!

I didnt see you on the tables

Dont know if stars is "so tough", its certainly tougher than ignition/bovada/gg, but thats about it. This doesnt apply to fullring tho, its a total ******fest from what Ive seen.

I remember you saying in the past you don’t really study. Is that something you still don’t do a lot of or are you intending to study more to try and move up the pokerstars ranks?

Hi,

I see you are in Mexico but where are you from originally?
Do you spend much in rent? living alone or with a bunch of friends?

Reason behind these questions is because I would like to do the same. I also have a challenge myself

Thanks

I figured you didn't, mr. 200z reg lol. I've been meaning to check out gg, heard the games are great there and they offer rakeback. what's the catch?

I still don't study beyond reviewing some hands quickly after a session. The problem is, I'm at the point where improving substantially is going to require a lot of study, probably with pio, and I just haven't been motivated to get on the study grind yet. Right now I'm able to beat the games I play in for a comfortable hourly so my focus is to grind out a lot of volume at my bread and butter stakes... but there is a part of me that wants to be "the best", so I don't doubt I'll look to move up stakes, especially once I have some savings tucked away.

From northern california originally. Rent is cheap, just 1300/month for a 2bed. California I'd be paying at least 2000, probably closer to 3000 for a studio.

Living alone right now (which is ****ing awesome - first time ever I haven't had to clean my roommates dishes ) but there's some other guys down here nearby who grind for a living also. GL with your challenge, I'll check it out when I get a chance.

I played some 50/100nl there for a bit. Can confirm games are soft. Although rake is super high (highest in the market I believe??) you do get some dece RB. People can buy in for 10bb and straddle which makes for a lot a ******ed short stack play. I had a lot of dc problems on there, also it takes up a lot of cpu which made my laptop freeze lol but it is prob not an issue on a decent computer. Def think a low/mid stakes player ev is higher spent focusing on Stars but might be worthwhile trying to cherry pick some soft games on there.

GL OP. Nice condo!
I'd be willing to sell action next time I play a 2-3k volume day. anyone interested let me know.

My pokerstars ROI is 83% over a tiny 85 tournament sample (avg buyin ~$30) and my ROI on Ignition is 100.5% over 249 tournaments (avg buyin ~$110). I'd sell at 1.2, or 1.1 if anyone wanted over $200. can obviously provide graphs for anyone interested

Thanks man

Just 2800 hands today, all PS 100nl. -3 buyins. Ran bad in my all in pre game: lost with KK vs AA, QQ vs AK, and AA vs 55. Also had some play bad toward the end of the session which is why I called it a day. Ran 1.25 miles, but that's it so far this week so I gotta step it up

I assume your previous grind was good before you moved why would you make big changes to this to move to ps? Make the movement but smaller maybe?

It was, but I think I can make a better hourly for lower $ swings. And pokerstars software is so much better and less tilt inducing. It just feels more fun to grind pokerstars

Ignition 200nl 4 tables = 250 hands/hour x7bb/100 = $35/hour. Then I'd add on a couple $50-100 tournaments to get closer to 50/hour

PS 100nl 9 tables = 600 hands/hour x 7bb/100 (not sure, seems doable though) = $42/hour and I can still add in ignition or ps tournaments to round out the grind. Also hoping to be doing 9 tables of PS and 4 ignition soon, once I get TT set up

What's nice is that pokerstars is best from 8am to 4pm and ignition gets good around 4pm and is dead in the morning, so I can do both pretty easily. Just very different strats

Don't overestimate your edge without knowing what it really is and don't underestimate your tournament edge, IMO. Especially when things are good to start with.

Regardless gl and I wish you the best.

At the same time push yourself to be the best, don't settle for ****.

That's fair. My guess is based on my experience so far (lots of limp/calling and super passive play) but I might have just played on two good days because that's all the 100nl I've played on stars lol. So yeah, just a guess. But by the time I reach 100k hands I should have a better idea, and I don't mind a little hourly cut to find out if that's what it ends up being. Goal is to move up to 200nl on stars once I have a decent sample anyway, and 100k hands should take less than a month

What do you mean by underestimating tournament edge? If anything I feel like my current ROI's are pretty high from some sun running. My guess is I'm around 40-50% roi on ignition and 20-30% on stars

Thanks for the encouragement man, I appreciate it

That would make sense

900 hands pstars 100nl, +4 buyins
1800 hands pstars 200nl, b/e

200nl looked soft today so I jumped in. Taking a break and back it in an hour or so

That makes more sense, I was very drunk. I think I was just thinking that so many fish play tournaments and so many cash regs don't realise how badly they are playing in certain spots so OP probably has an edge on them in tournaments too and it came out wrong.

Thanks bro!

2nd session was a wild one. 9 tabled ignition (4 cash/5 tournaments) and the software was not happy about it. super laggy the whole time.

I was down 1k at one point, but ran it up at the end for a +$1350 session. +1.5 buyins at 500nl/1k hands, +$50 at 200nl/500 hands.

I think I can get away otr in hindsight:

on life tilt at the moment. citibank is the nut low to deal with. I lost my debit card in the move down here, and I've been trying to get them to send me a replacement card for a month now. Their customer service reps don't speak english (if you can even get a rep on the phone - the automated system demands a debit card # even on the "Lost debit card" line... so tilting to have it ask for my debit card # over and over after calling the line that is specifically for when you lose your debit card...). And I'm not talking about an accent. They literally can't say anything besides the phrases on the sheet in front of them, and asking them a question is impossible.

After 5 phone calls averaging 30 minutes (one time I got through the whole process, finally got a rep who understood me, then the call dropped), I finally got them to expedite me a card. Two weeks ago. It still hasn't come, but they sent me several pieces of mail confirming my address change. Thanks citibank, I really needed you to send me two pieces of mail telling me what my address is. Don't need access to my money though, nope not at all.

Then this time I call, and before they will even discuss the issue with my debit card never being sent they want me to do some kind of account review. Sounds like they're suspicious of my account activity (probably the 5-10k cash withdrawals/deposits - what else am I supposed to do when I play live?). So they wanted to know my profession, my yearly income, blah blah blah. I said no, I don't give that kind of information out. They said in order to keep my account open I have to provide them the information. I said great, I was planning on closing my account anyway. Cya monday

Yeah I think they generally need that info for anti terrorism/money laundering stuff. One thing you can do for playing live is open a safety deposit box at your bank (free at some banks with some accounts) and just keep some like 5-10k amount of cash in there for when you need it and don't want the hassle.

yeah, I know it's not an unreasonable request, the timing just tilted me. I was planning on closing my account anyway. I've had so many issues with them it's ridiculous. But yeah, good idea about the box. I play at so many different places that having a box at a casino doesn't make sense, but when I open a new bank account I'll ask about it
