I decided that starting today I was going to try and build a roll from $0. I have a list of things I want to achieve both on and off the felts and thought writing them down in a public place would hold me a lot more accountable.
I will probably be posting in several different areas and I want to keep the posts to what they should be so I'll just keep the poker/gambling stuff on here.
So a little about my poker/gambling background. I am super prone to sweating the day to day bankroll. I would much rather "take a shot" at making up losses by playing slots or table games online. I've blown some epic bankrolls, I think my worst blow up was running a $200 deposit or so into $6,000 on Bovada and losing it all.
Those are my negatives anyways, and I'm hoping starting today that it is behind me.
Some positives: Once in a tournament I'm not super prone to tilting. I may swear, get upset, do whatever, but I don't think it affects me too much as shoving something awful or what have you. I do use HM2 and try to maximize all its uses: Note Caddy, Leak Buster, etc. I do try to keep good notes on players, especially if I see them popping up in the same games.
So that's me.
I'm hoping that starting from $0 will teach me to respect money and appreciate what levels I am at.
I will be playing at Black Chip Poker. I know they have .11 tournaments and I would to stick to a 50x buy-in rule. Step one will be playing freerolls until I have $5.50
I tend to play different levels differently as far as buy-ins go. For freerolls I tend to play incredibly incredibly tight, sometimes single digit VPIP/PFR. If I get short stacked, I will open up my hand ranges. I'm looking to double my stack if I can get a premium hand and try to outlast that first wave of players that just charge with anything. I don't do a lot of c-betting, I just don't find it to be taken seriously. I will play a very tight, very straightforward game. I can play loose/aggressive sometimes, and when I move up in stakes there will be a huge jump in some of my numbers.
I'll try to update this when there is something to update. I don't know if everyday posting "played ___ freerolls, cashed 0 times" is going to be a good idea. But I do want to maybe post once a week regardless just to show some numbers and ideas I have.
Thinking it would be a while before I got my first cash on ACR, I am delighted to report I cashed twice in the first night.
I ended up playing five games, and had deep runs four out of five of them.
I managed to get to the final table twice, but sadly went out in 9th in both. Oh well, progress is progress!
Looking forward to playing the $0.11 MTTs this weekend, I have 11 buy-ins for it. I was going to wait until I had $5.50 for 50 buy-ins, but I don't see why. My thinking is I'll still be playing freerolls, and I can't really "over-extend" myself since I am playing at the small level possible.
Haven't had a lot of time to play since the last update but I did get to play the .11 $75 gtd on ACR last night.
I couldn't get much of a run going, and I invested three bullets into it.
Once late reg was over I had about 7,500 in chips.
First hand I caught AA in the SB, UTG raised 5x to 2,500. I jammed, BB called, UTG called and I tripled up.
Few hands later I got AA again, and KOed a short stack and all of a sudden I had about 28k.
At 275/550 I opened 66 in the hijack to 1650 (28k stack) and got called by the BB (less than 16k after the call)
Flop came J 6 T all diamonds. BB checks, I bet 2200 into 4,070 BB calls.
Turn is a 4h, he checks, I shove, he calls pretty quickly with Jc 5c and I pick up that pot to get to 46k.
Then I think this is where I made a mistake that cost me my good run.
600/1200 blinds, I have 23k. CO opens for 3,180. I have no real read on them and to be brutally honest I had just sat back down from grabbing a water. I thought the blinds were 500/1000 and I had 23BBs and could 3-bet/fold the sixes if I needed to. If I had know I was at 19BB, I probably would have either folded or shoved, probably leaning towards folding.
Anyways, I re-raised to 8,400. CO calls and jams the flop of 9h Jd 4h and I folded and was a little irritated with myself.
Went card dead and finally found AK with 7BB and jammed it from the BB got called by Q9d and the board ran out 3 Q 3 2 2.
24th place out of 678 for .45 for a .12 profit.
Will try again tonight in the $100 gtd.

Played the $75 gtd on Friday and the $100 gtd on Saturday.
Friday $75 gtd:
200/400 40 ante
UTG +1 Limps (23/9 4.7k chips)
CO shoves all-in for 490 (42/33)
I am on the button with J9o (20/17 for the day, 6.4k)
I decided to shove here and I know it's pretty iffy. Late Reg had just closed and I wanted to start building a stack. I know the limper limps with some weaker hands and he might not want to play for his stack. I don't think I like my shove here in hindsight. Maybe I was a little tilted. Meh.
BB calls all-in for 5k (26/16)
UTG +1 folds.
CO: 88
Me: J9o
BB: QJo
Board: 8 9 6 Q 7
Two bullets invested, out in 128th of 606 = -$0.22
Saturday $100 gtd
300/600 60 ante
HJ Limps (39/0 16.5k)
Button Raises to 1.8k (50/35 17.3k)
I am in the SB with Ac4c
This button has been raising a TON of hands lately, and I guess I just had enough of it. My problem with this spot is that the limper is a total station. She can limp/call with hands as weak as T9o. On the flop she's just as sticky, she can call OOP with as little as one over card.
I think a 3-bet here is okay, not great but not terrible. So I decide to do that.
I three bet to 4.8 k (22/20 for the day, 21k stack)
Limper folds, oddly enough
Button 4-Bets 17.3k total
My first instinct here is to fold. I looked over his HUD numbers and he has a 3B of 28.6 and a 4B range of 38. Earlier we got it all-in in a 4B pot where we both had AJo.
I just think there's too much garbage in his range and I think it's really a call is razor thin close. Maybe I'm wrong. Against a "normal" opponent, this is a fold. But I ended up calling.
Villain has Qs8s
I have Ac4c
Board: 7s 2s 5d 8c Jc
I ended up entering four times, I cashed in 70th out of 694 for .30 = -$0.14
Planning on trying again on Monday night.

Ugh, I really need to stop jumping into this .11 tournament with about 10 minutes left in late reg. Oh well, it happened and nothing I can do about it. Nothing spectacular to report.
$75 gtd
200/400 40 ante
UTG shoves for 873 (60/60)
HJ raises to 1,346 (20/17, 13.2k stack behind)
I am in the CO with KJ and 4.5k
I think this was probably a bad push with 12 Bigs. I didn't mind it in the heat of the moment, but looking back on it.... cringe. I think it was the idea of trying to get a big stack quickly that made it look appealing. I should have thought it through a bit more. Oh well, **** happens right?
I shove for 4.3k
BB moves all-in for 500 total (400 in the BB plus 100 more)
HJ calls.
UTG: Ah 9d
HJ: Ad Js
Me: Kc Jh
BB: 3h 5s
Board: 9h 7d 7s 7c 6s
Two bullets, 157 of 673 = -$0.22
Did pick up .01 in rakeback.

I only got to play the Saturday night $100 gtd on ACR. But I think it went okay.
Saturday $100 gtd
300/600 70 ante
UTG min raises to 1,200 (33/13, 16.4k stack)
I am in MP with 66 and shove 11.5k.
At this point the money bubble had just burst and I wanted to build a stack. There's 2.7k in the middle, I don't think UTG is ever folding. Maybe 66-88 should have been a fold, his numbers don't look too out of line. At best I am flipping and could be crushed.
Folds to UTG who calls.
