Hi,

After years of mostly lurking i have decided to start my own PGC Thread.
Mostly for the sake of my own memories down the line, but also to keep myself accountable for what my goal actually is.

Background

33 years old, working a stable job in Norway. Making around 70K USD yearly.
Been playing poker for about 15 years. Biggest tournamentscore is about 15k USD. Small winner lifetime, but not big on tracking (live esp)

For the last 4-5 years i've been playing alot. Like alot alot. But still without any direction or plan. Always been mixing liferoll and pokermoney in and out of themself, so never had any real progress. I have been to Vegas for purely poker playing 4 times the last 6 years and i will continue to go to Vegas as its my all time fav vacation.

After buying my appartment and a car (first ride, got my drivers licences at 32) im now more in a position where i would never need to use from my bankroll and as such i want to set certain goals and follow trough.

My current bankroll (liquid cash, no other commitments on these money) is about 130k NOK which equals 15k USD on the dime.

My hometown offers 2 weekly tournaments.
Tuesday 600 NOK Freeze, about 70USD. First price on this is usually 1150 USD.
Friday 200 NOK Rebuy, about 25 USD. First price on this is usually around 1750 USD.

They also offer cashgames on those same days, and maybe 1-2 other days + im a part of a unraked homegame.

The spread on the local club is 10-10 or 10-20 NOK, comparable to 1-2$. But it plays bigger, uncapped buyin. It plays around 250BB effective from start. Its a RoE game, where PLO plays higher and the games usually end up being PLO only after a few hours. To give a picture, last game:

4 handed at 09:00 in the morning (game been running for about 14 hours)
Last hand ended up being a 4 way all in for about 5.8K USD. Straddle to 75$ ish(40-80-160-320-640 NOK straddles, so 5 straddles in total)

Game is pretty nuts when people have been out drinking and then coming to the club.

Im going to do writeups on all my sessions, short and interesting + other tougths. I will do 3-4 updates a week and updates will also contain numbers on roll etc.

The goal is - 2020 Main event + more tournaments. I figure i would need to take the roll to about 35-40k USD for me to commit to playing the main.

I will do a write up of all of my activites so far in July later this week.

TL;DR

- 15k USD Bankroll
- Access to juicy club and homegames
- 40k USD Goal
- 2020 Main event

Friday 5th of july

We had our early office party this day. Great fun. After drinking from about 8-9 hours i head over to the local club. The tournament were still going, about 6-7 handed.

The cashgame was just started, no big stacks yet. 10-20 RoE, 6 players. One drunk lady is sleeping in her chair, the rest is somewhat concentrated. I see 2-3 people that usually don't play at the cashgames, and also 2-3 more still in the tournament that i belive will come and play later.

I buy in for 5k, covering all.

I actually dont have any interesting hands from this session. I end up losing about 8k, when this pot comes up.

Stack is about 8k effective.

I have 3456 double suited and we are playing 5 handed. Its straddled to 80. I open 310 from either BB or SB after the player before me folds. I get 2 callers, before action player makes it 1600. I call and 2 more calls.

6400 in the pot.

Flop comes AJ2dd. I have 2 diamonds. Weird spot, as action player is repping aces. Think for a while and decide its okay to ship. So i pot 6400. If its aces i have 9 outs and probably good on the flush, as the ace is diamond.

Player 1 folds.
And now the actions starts.

Player 2 does the following.
"I actually have to fold" he says. These are the exact words.

Then he slides 2 of his cards forward. Think, removing the top 2 cards, one at the time, in a forward motion so they are laying infront of his last 2 cards.

All this looks like a fold (still think it is a fold imo) and then action player folds based on this.
As soon as player 2 sees that he is folding, he starts arguing he has not released his hand yet. I say nothing as of now, as i dont want to appear weak nor strong.

Action player says well yes, you did fold? You moved your cards to the middle.
No, i have not folded he says.

In the end, he calls with KJ74 no suits, for a pair of jacks with no kicker.

As soon as its called i raise my voice.
Yeah, that aint okay i tell the dealer. He obviously folded, which everyone at the table thinks he did and gained information.

In the end its ruled that he gets to call (???) and pot is valid.
Im literally fuming. Such a bad decision.

We run it once (my decision, will never run it more times vs potential angleshooters) and i lose.

I insta cashout and refuse to play anymore.
Ended up down 12k for the night.

Not the best start for the month.

July 6th

So, i was a little mad about the ruling the other day. Both the dealer in question and the floor (owner) called me the following day and we talked it over. Still not 100% clean on this, but again, its a rare spot and nothing frequent, so there is no point dwelling over it.

I get information that its 6 guys signed up to start the game at about 20:00. So i go over and the lineup is great. Actionplayer from yesterday, a local soccer pro, 3 bad players and 1 decent one. Awesome.

I buy in for 3k, covering all.

First few hours start slow. I chip slowly up to about 5.5k without any action.
Then i win a flip in NL - QQ all in vs 77 for about 55 BB. So im sitting on roughly 7k when the following hand comes.

10-20-40-80. I open 310 with AQJT 1 suit.
Comes over to local soccer pro, who 3 bets to 800. I call.

Pot: 1700 with blinds.

Flop is 5-8-9 rainbow. Checks trough. Turn is Js, making the board 589Jss. Soccer pro bets into me for about 850. I pot for about 4.2k total. He calls with 1k behind.

River is 2s, so 589J2sss. He checks, i check behind (cant really see getting called by worse, so why bother) and he tables flush. J5xxss, so 2 pair and flush draw on turn.

I reload and play 5k effective.

2 hands later, im clashing with local soccer pro again.
I flat A774 1 suit after 3 bet pre.

Pot is 3 ways, 1400 on the flop.
T53 with 1 in my nutted flushdraw. So i flop the gutter for nuts and second nuts.

I check, he checks behind. Turn is a deuce, so T532 with 2 to my flushdraw. I bet, he just calls. River is K, no flush. So KT532 and i have the second nuts. I bet pot and he jams.

Hating life, but with like 700 behind on 4.3k invested i cant fold and surely he has the nuts.

So quickly we are down another 8k after yesterdays bad results. Not good.

We reload 10k to cover.

Managed to chip this without showdown up to 600 from even, so 17.400 NOK total before the game breaks.

The rumors about a nightgame is starting to come to fruition, and people who are out drinking is putting themselfs on the list. I decide to sit and wait for a hour or so to see if we get a new game going.

Part 2 will follow.
