Yearly Update

Bankroll: (~$338/200,000)

Poker Profit: $557

Hey guys, 25 year old who has been playing poker for about 4 years now. Currently at a place in life where I need to start setting myself up for the future and get my life on track. Poker at the moment is one of the most fun ways of making and income and so I’m going to really pursue it. I also am working part time for the next couple months and will also be sports betting. This isn’t just a poker thread, but also a general life progression/motivation thread for myself. Lately, I’ve been reading/listening to a lot of material around productivity and one of the most important aspects is keeping yourself accountable. Over the past few years in poker I've built up my bankroll so much, but I've always withdrawn from it. I've made thousands playing this game, but only have a few hundred at the moment to show for it. I'm going to use this thread to keep myself accountable with not only poker, but all other aspects of my life which I will list below. My life just needs to change that's all. Volume is one of my biggest issues that I plan to work on.

Weekly Goals are...

Poker

[ ] Play 30 hours of poker each week - Definitely achievable and just determination.

[ ] Watch 2 poker training videos each week and take notes - I like to watch about 10 minutes of a training video before I play a session so shouldn’t be too difficult.

[ ] Rate each session on a mental game grade of 0-5 - Goal here is for the average for the week to be 4 or higher.

[ ] Analyze/Discuss poker hands once a day - Can be through going over own database or commenting on 2+2 threads with player whose game I respect.

Mental

[ ] Meditate 10 minutes before each session - This is part of my pre-session routine anyway, but I don’t always do it.

Health

[ ] Lift 4x a week - Doing a 4 day split at the moment (Chest/Back/Legs/Arms).

[ ] HIIT 3x a week - I plan to do these on my off days.

[ ] Track and hit macros - Just learned how to track macros and man it isn’t the easiest thing. But it is very important to getting in shape.

[ ] Stretch 2x a day - I am so tight everywhere and I don’t want this to become a problem later in life.

Other

[ ] Read 20 minutes every day - I plan to do this before bed. At the moment I am reading the “Intelligent Investor”.

[ ] Start playing some PLO - I think this is the poker game with the highest edges and has potential to be the future of poker.

[ ] Post in this thread at least once every 2 days - I really want to keep accountable and this will be the best way to do so by making sure I see these goals every day or two.

Ultimate Goal

[ ] 200,000 Bankroll by end of 2023 - If I look at the life I want to live, my daily life would be something like:

-Wakeup
-Golf
-Sport Bet/Trade Stocks
-Workout
-Poker
-Bed

Now I’m nowhere near achieving this lifestyle anytime soon. But I would love to have it by the time I am 30 years old. This gives me about 4 years (almost 26 years old) to achieve this. I’m thinking I’m going to need to have at least $200,000 to do this comfortably.

GL to us and everybody following!

Hey guys quick update...

Bankroll: ($316/$200,000)

Profit: $-22

Only played about 5 hours this weekend. I'm still a jet lagged from traveling. Got the bankroll up to $380 and then had a pretty unfortunate session. That combined with some plo variance pushed me down into negative. Not bad at all and the tables are just lol soft. Will hopefully be able to put a ton of work in this week before I leave for Las Vegas on Thursday.

I'd like to start with the weekly goals on a Monday as that is when I feel the week really starts.

GL everybody!

So been running pretty poor recently. Games are amazing as as they always are, but anybody here who has played on Global Poker will know that the RNG is worse than SBR RNG. Ton of action flops and suckouts. It's actually insane. The amount of insane coolers is crazy. I can't complain because I've been on the right side of these as well with this gem:

https://play.globalpoker.com/gp/10/h...4b051a0b5dcbb2

Anyway, at the moment I am in Vegas baby! Unfortunately, my BR isn't big enough to really be playing these games, but I might throw $100 out of liferoll just to see how things go and to have some fun gambling. Will be here until Sunday and then back home and on the grind. At the moment I am contemplating moving to Bovada as I don't trust Global Poker 100% with this RNG, but we'll see. The games might be too good to pass up, but idk if the RNG is.

Bankroll: ($265/200,000)

Poker Profit: $389

So yesterday was my first night in vegas. All I can say is WOW! This place is actually magical. The best way to describe it is as an Adult Playground. I was in awe for the entire day walking around. Went through various casinos and I can't believe how normal gambling is here. In real life people think I'm weird for gambling lol. Anyway, played about an hour online before heading to gamble and won around $9. Played BJ for about an hour with my bro to get warmed up and ready to gamble. Made a small profit of around $15 and then headed over to the poker tables. I decided to go to Flamingo because that's where we had wondered. I also only wanted 1/2 and they had a good amount of tables. Only played for about an hour, but some interesting hands...

Literally the very first hand when I sit down after buying in for $100 (gambling responsibly)...I turn over 98 diamonds in the BB. I call a bet from UTG. Flop is 984 all spades. I x, UTG bets biggish. There is about $30 in the pot and I have about $90 left. So I jam over him. This foreign guy says out loud "man are you ****ing kidding me?!?". After 20 seconds he calls. Turn is 10 brick. And River is Q of spades bring 4 flush board. I think I'm done here so I say "if you have flush you win". He looks at me and says "I don't have a flush". So inside I'm thinking **** I can't believe I won. I turn over my hand and then he turns over 76 hearts for the straight. So he called my jam with an OESD. I literally had no words, but to be fair neither did he haha. Now I don't have much of bankroll. This money is just some spare money I had to "have fun" in vegas and use to gamble. It isn't part of bankroll. Anyway my limit to lose for the night was $100, but because that call was so bad I figured I had a big fish and money to make. So I put $100 more on table...then this happens....

Literally same orbit I limp/call 76s COvBB the same foreign reg who sucked out on me. Flop is 764 rainbow. He bets biggish, and I again Jam over top. He tank calls. Turn is 8 blank. River is K blank. I'm pretty sure I'm good here, but who knows anymore so I show and then he shows, A5o for a straight. Unbelievable. Sucked out on twice. So now I'm sitting there already way past my loss limit of $100 for the night and I just get thinking to myself 'scared money don't make money'. So stupidly, I give dealer my last $100. An orbit later...

I get AA CO. UTG limps, I Raise him, BTN Asian reg tight ass calls, and then UTG asian whale calls. Flop is A98r. Top Set baby. UTG checks, and I check too. BTN then bets and both UTG and I call. Turn brings the 5x. No a great card at all, but oh well could be worse. UTG checks and I don't have much money left, so I donk bet. BTN thinks for a bit and then jams all in. UTG folds and I obviously call happily. River is a blank. I ask if he has a straight because that is how the night is going and he turns over A5s. FINALLY! I win a big pot.

So ended up losing about $95 last night, but it was a lot of fun. Vegas definitely have more regs and play tighter, but the play is still really bad. Anyway, tonight I'm going to see the jabawockeez live (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pa0TCf1pEWo&t=308s) and then will hit up a casino for some more poker. $100 is actually my loss limit for the night though I promise. I also played this gem as I feel like I had to do it for the experience in vegas:

Any Vegas tips? I'm here until Sunday...

Update on Year

Bankroll: ($242/200,000)

Profit this year: $266

So Vegas trip has ended. Again all I can say is...What a sick ****ing place to be! I cannot wait to go back. Unfortunately, results went a little south. Last night in vegas I buyin for $100 again as I'm trying to be smart with bankroll. Win a few small pots. Then this happens..

Around $120 effective. UTG limps $2, MP makes it $4 lol, I call in BB with T9o, UTG calls. Flop is 969r. I x, UTG x, MP bets 3x pot. I call and UTG folds. Turn is brick. I x and he says all in. I call and river brings a Q. I look at him and say I have trips. He literally takes 6 seconds to look at his cards and then shows them. QQ. FML he just rivered a boat. Anyway, kind of a slowroll, but w.e. I really don't care. Maybe he couldn't believe it. Really unlucky live poker this trip. I got in 4 times all in has huge lead and only won once. But we will keep grindin'!

At the moment I've withdraw my whole roll off of Global Poker. The site is just wayy to action rigged and I really don't know if the rng is fair or not. I'm up on the site by a few hundred, but if I cant trust it I better not use it. Also, the action leads to tons of chopped pots and all ins which increase rake significantly at these micro stakes. So...Will be moving over to bovada right now for the time being until I move back out to Europe.

Update on Year

Bankroll: $342

Profit This Year: $367

Just started playing poker on bovada again and although it isn't as soft as global poker, the rake is way less and less action rigged. I had a look at both the rake system between the sites and wow is global poker the heaviest raked site by a long shot. I can't believe I was paying that amount or even profitable, but the games are insanely good. Anyway, bankroll/profit going the right direction. Only playing 10NL right now, but will hopefully be moving to 25NL soon. Trying to do this all the right way, slow and steady wins the race right? Anyway, just had 4 wisdom teeth removed yesterday so just been bed resting. Off for another 2 days so will try to grind out as much as I can.

Bovada so far this month

Update

Bankroll: $800

Added some money from working to my bankroll this week so I'll probably be playing 25NL for the most part. In regards to the long overdue update, after I got my wisdom teeth removed I had a lot of pain because of it and I was in a constant state of nausea due to the medicine. So I didn't really grind much. Since then, and I know this is going to sound funny, but I think I might have lead poisoning? I've been doing some construction work part time and working on 100 year old windows inhaling tons of dust on an old house. I'm going to need to take a test for it, but again I've been extremely fatigued and have nausea/headaches all day long. However, I'm going to try and have a normal week where I get everything I need to get done which means back to the checklist...
