Being playing since 2007, Won around 30k in micro tournies/sngs, played cash on the side here and there and then switched totally to cash and played it up to 100nl back in the day approx 2009/2014. Some success, beat every stake I played just about. I played waaaay too low for my level I think but I wasn't that fussed, I had a job for most of that time. Most of my play was 2nl-25nl over the last 4 years or so.
I hadn't played for about a year and now I'm back... Started at 2nl with $14 and quickly got that up over $150, now playing 5nl... I'm at $360 after doing well at 5. I mix 6max with FR Zoom. Currently at FR and will move up to 10nl once I hit $500. I usually like to have 40 BIs but I can't face going straight back to 5nl once I move up if things don't go well at 10, so I'd like to have that 10BI cushion just for extra padding vs a bad start.
Anyway, I'm not sure how often I'm going to update this, I usually can't be bothered to keep up with blogs etc but I've got some free time lately so I may keep this going for a while.
I'm not going to post my graph so far this month as it's only around 14k hands and I've been on a bit of a heater. I'll likely put it in here at the end of the month, depending on how many hands I play.
Just a couple of quick hands from today's session....
I think that was an ok play otr, I suspected he has likely a bit fishy after the pre flop action but I think we have to turn our hand into a bluff here if want this pot and just hope he doesn't have Kh. He didn't need it as it turned out haha. I guess I could bet bigger but I don't see the reason to, my bet looks like a heart trying to get a call imo... He didn't see it that way.
This really felt close but being as I'm in ep and given how the board ran out I think I only beat a busted fd but I don't think it's a board to bluff the river. He may have KQ but I'm not sure he bets that otr. I didn't have any info on him so I think it's probably a fold? Or I may be a nit.
How long is "quickly" ? - How many tables do you play at once and what was your volume for the period of time you were working up your BR...
I will leave analysis to the xperts, I think you played pretty standard on both hands just btw
I can't be sure about the number of hands as I was playing without a HUD at the time. I think it was probably around 30k-40k hands. I was playing 6 6max reg speed tables over about a month. I was just passing the time and feeling my way back in during this time so I wasn't looking to go volume crazy or anything.
I had a 18bb/100 WR at 2nl over a sample of about 300k hands a couple of years ago, I think my WR this time was about the same, maybe a touch more, but not a huge sample obv. I do know (I got a HUD) that I won $18 over 6k zoom FR hands at 2nl just before I started at 5nl, but that's such a tiny sample it's barely worth mentioning.
Thanks for your opinion on those hands. Good to know I didn't totally mess them up at least haha.
Frustrating session earlier this morning. I know we shouldn't play tired but I had nothing else to do so loaded up. Anyway, one common spot that I'm really unsure of how to play....
I would usually bet a K turn there but there's so many Ax hands that villain can have AJ being the obvious one but also every Axs hand and AK floats. x/calling seems bad, and if I bet oop I'm going to have to x otr to him. Is a x/f just too nitty here? I just don't know what to do.
Off to play another session, hopefully it'll go better.
Really frustrating day today, got absolutely destroyed in almost all 3/4b pots, couldn't catch a thing and it seemed like everyone hit everything. I did make some pretty spewy looking plays but I think they were ok, just running into it too much I think. There were some very strange hands showing up from the nits, some weird calls going on today for some reason.
This was my favourite hand of the session I just finished...
Better session today, if a little brief. I'm not sure if I'll load up again today, I played a lot yesterday and I'm feeling a bit burned out. I see some guys on every time I load up at FR. I guess there are some full time 5nl grinders lol. Seems ludicrous not to move to at least 10nl if that's your plan, I couldn't think of a worse way to spend your entire day tbh.
I guess I can fold pre but whatever. Not sure what he could have here... I think A8 should probably bet ott again, and I have an 8 so it's unlikely. There are like no Ax hands other than A8 that x/c ott. Ok, I bet pretty small but it should still fold out any air or Ax imo. It felt like a bluff otr. Thoughts?
Totally mental session today. I played well other than 2 hands that were mistakes, one in particular was awful as I didn't realise how big the pot was and the guy was committed. Another one was QQ vs AA, I'm happy with the play tbh, the guy was going nuts over a decent sample and just showed up with it.
This could've been $40+ if I'd got a bit of luck and didn't make mistakes but overall I'm happy with my game at FR at the moment.
I mean this couldn't be more AA if he showed me it haha. I really don't know why people do this with huge stacks like that, ok, he obviously doesn't trust himself to fold post flop but he's missing so much value vs my big pairs. I'm pretty sure he knows me enough now to know I'm not calling KK there.
This was just bizarre vs a 13/11 reg. Not sure what he's thinking in any point of the hand, whether he was looking to make a move or what but he had no reason to do anything vs me since I'd played pretty straight forward up to that point. That was one of only a few light 3bs I made, typical he catches that runout tbh but whatever.
Ok so I moved up to 10nl. My first session lasted 5k hands, I haven't spewed so hard for a long time. I was very, very unlucky during the session and I made some really ridiculously loose plays but I was fairly happy with the majority of them, I just ran into some unknown fish. I lost a fair amount but I'm not going to look at it. I'd rather not know and just grind it out. On the plus side 10nl is lol soft. If anything there are more splash tard fish than at 5nl, something I learned the hard way. I plan to make a few adjustments in my future sessions, going to have to play a little bit differently from 5nl.
These are awkward spots at FR oop. He seemed like a std 17/14 type reg, I don't have many hands on him obviously. I'm not sure betting is right since he's almost certainly folding anything we beat. I'm not sure he has anything but overcard hearts that we beat which would've called ott. I can't see him betting 88/99. I think it might've been a fold, but do we b/f? Or is x/f right? No draws otf, I'm thinking x/f is correct.
I don't have any stats on villain but it doesn't look like I'm calling otr but he shoves. Less than pot size but I'm just not sure what he does that with. Perhaps he calls a squeeze with suited Kx but I'm not so sure. He can still have 99 but I'm not so sure he takes that line. Fold?
Ok, this guy is a big nit but he gave me a decent price. His 3b % was like 1% over a few hundo hands I think. My feeling is this player won't 3b an utg raise with AK, even ip. It's either KK or AA, more likely AA. his turn bet tells me he doesn't have KK, so I have him squarely on AA, I can have AK, even though it's less likely if he has AA, so otr I turn my hand into a bluff. It probably looks bad but I was so sure he had AA by the river, I could've folded ott but I just couldn't bring myself to do it lol. Probably badly played preflop (maybe) and ott but whatever, I was a little tilted by then.
This one's kind of a moan hand but tbh I thought I played it well until the river. If anyone thinks there's value in raising ott then let me know. I can't see why we'd raise tbh since we have such a lock on the hand, or so we thought. I knew he had it when he shipped otr but I defy anyone to fold there. Especially when he had it won lol, add in tilt it's impossible to fold, even not correct vs a lot of villains. I'm not sure if he barrels otr if he misses but we get him there more times than not, just unlucky otr.
I think I should raise otr here vs obv fish but I was running into it so often... I guess the dude puts in as much money as he can when he's behind and then decides to basically give me a free sd. WP.
This one was the most tilting as I KNEW 1 million % he hit a set of Ks ott. I honestly did. It's so obvious given his pot on wet flop and sudden half pot. I should've just shoved ott then at least it would've shown up in the ev line haha. Again, otr, I'm just not folding, it's a fu call if anything haha. Same thing essentially happened in the earlier hand so there's no way I can fold.
This last one was annoyingly close. The guy was a big 11/9 nit. I'm splitting the pot at best imo. AA is so likely given his stats and the action but I'm not even sure if folding is correct? I briefly wondered if shoving is better than calling lol, it was kinda difficult to rep though. Thoughts?
