Yeah he needs to stop talking about how he's "going to" make $100k a year at chess and poker. Just go and do it, stop saying you can do it but not actually follow through with it. He's as bad as OP. No doubt he will call all of us "haters".

Exactly. I for example have been grinding my ass off at the live tables last couple of years, clearing 1500+ hours every year. Its harder than most people would think to put in solid volume day in and day out, month after month, year after year. Its tilting enough to read about 6bet who needs a week off or a long weekend to "refresh" after logging 2 hours of poker the last week.

That big talker can start his own thread and dont derail every other thread he posts. Get the **** off.

Re: The Return of 6bet me

But guys, I was once paid 100 to help move some things and it only took an hour so I basically made 100 an hour.

So I set up my own moving business.

35 hours work a week - WHICH IS COMPLETELY REASONABLE
48 weeks a year - WHICH IS COMPLETELY REASONABLE

That's 168k a year using completely reasonable assumptions. I see no reason why with some effort I shouldn't clear 200k next year.

****ing haters.

And Rick once met a tatted up chick that wanted to bang him. So it's not unreasonable to think she would want to live in his van for the next year.

Correlation is not causation and you should absolutely know that. People are different and will function differently on 6 hours of sleep. As it would seem, people who can function well off 6 hours are more likely to succeed, but that doesn't mean op should be reducing his sleep.

Also had a good laugh at op appreciating foder. Maybe we should all switch to that style of roasting and op will be in a safe space and everyone else will be in on what is actually being said.

You got this op, run up that 2k deposit and don't waste your time studying. Good luck you

Re: The Return of 6bet me

Well inversely correlating success with the amount of sleep while failing to include other established healthy factors like eating well, exercising, meditating etc. (which are time consuming in themselves), is quite reflective of an immature mind and one that would be naive enough to extrapolate how much he can make yearly from a tiny sample size of teaching chess, for example... Sigh

Seriously, what kind of people are you? Quite literally using this guy to maintain your superiority complex's. There are millions of people as degenerate or more degenerate than the chess man - there are millions of people slightly less degenerate, millions far less degenerate. Who cares? Stop feeding his narcissism and your own egos. Oh wow, you've got your lives in such great shape and are so full of pearly wisdom - take a f*cking hike you bunch of f*ckwits. The chess man will continue with degeneracy, or he will regenerate and go on to be successful by his or whoever else's criteria. Then he will die, exactly the same as you'll do whatever you do and then die. Who gives a f*ck. Go and find a real hobby you sad pathetic pieces of sh*t

Re: The Return of 6bet me

6bet, please book a psychiatry session. Who cares if it's over zoom and wife or mom hear you, they'd even be happy that you were seeking help given your living situation.

Mention that you spend hours daydreaming, have difficulty following through with goals, and make impulsive decisions with regards to money. Don't shy away from talking about poker. Also, how would you rate your ability to focus on tasks for extended periods. If that's an issue mention that as well.

Get a coach, make a monthly budget, never play higher than whatever stake you're actually rolled for. This will easily increase liferoll. Also I'm sure you are aware but you have close to 0 discipline. Focus on trying to develop that so you can grind even when you aren't "motivated", but maybe that's too far down the line to worry about rn.

Things can and likely will get worse if you don't make drastic changes. Examples: even more broke, living in mom's house even longer, girl leaving you, and just further solidifying awful habits that no successful, happy, or fulfilled adult should have. Booking the psychiatrist is actually taking a leap towards improvement, not just mentally masturbating in your daydreams and forum posts about all the ways you're going to do things better and never follow through on. Start taking action. gl

Re: The Return of 6bet me

See 6b? Like clockwork. Haters gonna hate. While correlation != causation, every single person you’ve ever looked up to has them. Even when you do eventually accomplish everything you’ve set out to, they’ll still be around doubting how genuine you are. It’s a never ending battle, one that you shouldn’t enter in the first place. You need to have it for yourself.

I do unequivocally agree with anyone that says that’s its vital that you “work” way more than you currently are. At least 60-80 hrs/ a week imo.

This may involve sacrificing some short term pleasure. In exchange you’ll receive long term respect.

Remember that there’s no such thing as an overnight success.

Re: The Return of 6bet me

my top 5 chessman moments:

1) accumulating 2,026 posts in under 1.5 years but never posting anything good
2) pretending he was playing 5/10 but was really just having visualization session
3) Typing 3! 4! instead of 3bet 4bet
4) typing != instead of unequal to come off as mathematically inclined despite not getting into college
5) making a thread asking if good players are profitable out of the big blind

Re: The Return of 6bet me

The only constant is that 6b won't work more than 20 hours a week. "go work 60/80 hour weeks" doesn't even count as advice because it won't happen. If working that much was a possibility he would have done it in college or in poker with pio or when applying for jobs

Re: The Return of 6bet me

The harder you work, the luckier you get . Luck is just preparation meeting opportunity anyways as they say.

Seriously, glgl 6b. And I can’t stress this enough: stop listening to people who didn’t have the discipline to ackshually follow through with the things that they’re advising you to do in their early & mid 20’s.

How pathetic do they have to be to sit around and sheeyit on your dreams? Do you seriously think anyone making mid six figures/yr is bagging on you itt? Don’t give them attention- they don’t deserve it.

Re: The Return of 6bet me

Running the numbers

I figure since today is the first day of the new financial year in Australia, this would be a good time to go back over all my finances.

So I've redeposited and it's about time I take a cold hard look at exactly how much money I have left, how much net profit I've made, and where things are realistically headed. I've been avoiding this for some time, because it sucks to have to look at all your profits and balances drop after a downswing, but I can't procrastinate this forever, so here goes. The breakdown is as follows (all numbers have been converted to USD for consistency):

Liferoll: $5000
Bankroll: $2400
Total online profit since late March: $25,000

To break down where my $25,000 USD profit came from:

Profit at 100nl: $9300
Profit at 200nl: -$1100
Profit at 800nl: -$400
Profit at 1000nl: $300
Profit at tournaments: $16,900

Of course, there's a huge discrepancy between how much money I've made vs how much I have (made $25k, only have $7400), and only a small portion of that can be explained by what I lost at live home games (lost $2800 there), so where did the other $14,800 USD go?

Well, that money went towards 5 main things:
1) Paying off debt (mostly related to wife's visa fee and wife's dad's hospital bills)
2) Buying accessories (new phone, new headphones, new clothes, new cream, etc.)
3) Grocery shopping for whole family (some weeks spent $300+ on groceries)
4) Buying expensive ready-made food (lots of UberEats and lots of eating out at restaurants)
5) Donations to wife's family to help them during the pandemic.

So what's the situation like now? I'm no longer in debt, I have all the gadgets I need for now, I'm no longer buying groceries for my whole family, and I'm no longer donating to my wife's family. So my only major ongoing expense is the ready-made food that I buy a lot (UberEats and restaurants). I'm going to be realistic with myself and say that I don't expect these costs to drop significantly anytime soon. If anything, I'm trying to eat more, so I can bulk up and grow muscles, so I might actually spend more on food in the future.

So what's my solution? If I can't bring my costs down, then I need to bring my income up. Whilst it's not necessary for me to put in ridiculous volume at high stakes just to pay for my food expenses, I'd like to put in at least a moderate amount of volume at 50nl+ to, at the bare minimum, break even. I'll try to do better than just breaking even, but I'm just saying, if I can gym consistently for the rest of the year whilst eating good food and breaking even financially, I'll be happy with that. That's progress to me.

If I bust my online bankroll again... I don't know. I'll take a break and I'll reevaluate. There's a decent chance I'll just stop playing entirely and look for work of some kind. Maybe I'll spend my remaining money buying a car and going back to driving Uber, but this time, without having to lease the car. It all depends on the current economic climate. But I'll seriously question what I'm doing if I bust this roll again.

For now, I'm still confident that I can succeed at poker, despite my past struggles, and I'm going to work on maintaining a solid poker + gym routine for the rest of this year.

I went to the gym 3 times last week, which I'm happy with. I also went yesterday and trained upper body, so I plan to go today and train legs. I'm still very underweight, so it's going to be a while before I stop standing out as the skinniest and weakest guy at the gym, but some day I'll get there lol. The hardest part is just eating more, but I'm working on that.

I also plan to do my tax return today and help my wife with hers too. I don't plan to play much poker today (if any) because I'll be busy with the gym + tax returns, but if I do make the time for it, I'll let you guys know how it goes.

The 27th new start - how can you lie to yourself all the times?
You will fail again like the other 26 times before.
Just get your lazy ass up, search a job and start to take over responsibility....
