OP is 26, has a wife, both no jobs, no university degree, no job experience, too lazy to work/play poker - doesn't sound like the best starting conditions...

When I was studying English in uni, one of my professors was a 50y old Australian guy who moved to Finland at ~35 as a plumber because of a woman. Obviously relationship ended and he was stuck in a foreign country but dude managed to study a new profession.

Age is not nearly as much of a factor as attitude and discipline.

I know this is a derail, but now that Dream Crusher has been banned, I'd like to know what his new account is. I'm assuming he's going to read this as he's been following this thread closely. His posts were usually really obtuse and trolly but I always thought he was one of the smartest guys on here and he usually had a point to make even when he was trolling.

DC what's your new sn?

world of warcraft > diablo 2 > chess
This is like saying reading or poasting on here is a waste of time. To each their own.

Making money is beside the point of a hobby.

I made more than that teaching it for 3hrs yesterday.

40,000,000~ people on chess.com vs <1,000,000 on this site. You’re in the minority.

But sure man. I don’t think that he should play it all day, I was saying that it’s going to be one of his most productive hobbies given that he’s already passionate about it.

I'm not DC but I'm sure he'll get a kick out of that. He used to make multiple accounts and respond agreeing with himself. Here's an example in the torelli cheating thread; he made an account pretending to be torelli pretending to be someone else, then responded to his own fake argument. That troll got me good.

Chess will never, ever be one of someone's most productive hobbies. Stop your pathetic chess posting. it's just odd.

My hourly teaching chess is higher than the vast majority of poker pros. And I usually do it from home. That’s not a brag, it’s a direct result of all the time spent on what app isn’t a productive hobby.

Take the hate somewhere else. Or not. I’m not going to engage with you any further. Just because you don’t play chess for money doesn’t mean it doesn’t have its place.

TIL that video games>chess lullz

If you put me or any other normie into his shoes, we would 'make it' or at least succeed in recreating our comfy normie lives. Being 26 with nothing to show for your 8 years as an official adult isn't a particularly challenging hurdle to overcome. It just puts you 8 years behind on the grind, but the grind is just the grind.

The problem is 6bet's horrible life leaks.

People get paid more to teach video games to other people than you make. People make millions of dollars in video game tournaments. What's the biggest cash prize in any chess tournament? Lol at thinking chess is more lucrative than video games. NERD!!!

Jfc some of you are incredibly dense.

You’re moving the goalpost. I was trying to dispute his notion that you can’t monetize a wealth of chess knowledge. Nobody is saying chess is lucrative.

6-bet clearly doesn’t have the discipline and work ethic to cement himself in the top few % of any field. That’s fine. So money is irrelevant wrt his hobbies.

Also, this idea that chess largely not involving large sums of money being a huge negative is moronic. What % of poker players are losing or barely breakeven? Most people don’t make money from it, in fact it’s quite the opposite. Don’t hate what you don’t understand.

I’m definitely a nerd. That’s not an insult lol. We’re not 5.

Hope to see you in the 5/10 streets in LA one day. I respect your decision to play poker professionally, mostly since I chose to do the same

Wow you're so cool dude. You make so much money coaching chess (lol) and play 5/10. What type of autism do you have that keeps you typing "wrt" and "chess" over and over all day? GTFO the thread

Are you an alt?

Yesterday was the first time I poasted itt so I have no clue what you are talking about.

I don’t remember ever saying I was cool? You started hating after I recommend 6-bet play chess in his spare time instead of video games.

You "coach" chess and make more than most poker pros. Surely that's got to be a troll? I've never heard of any chess coaches who make decent money.

I would make between $65-85k (large range because some variability and client acquisition is hard) next year from home if I taught it full time. I’m 20.

I figure that’s more than most poker pros?

But that’s beside the point. I think several on the site are biased towards poker and don’t realize that it isn’t special considering like 90% don’t make any or much money from it. I’m biased the other way, but for understandable reasons.

You’re right that very few (percentage wise) do this. I’ll take that as a compliment?

Don’t listen to anyone who isn’t trying to add value. It’ll make ya miserable.
