Re: The Return of 6bet me

How can you win at poker if you don't win every hand. Idiots.

This is 100% true, I have lived at my parents and I have done so saving up every year to the point where I am very close to being able to afford a mortgage by myself and I earn about the median wage in the UK with a stable job.

Renting would have gutted me to the point I could probably never afford a house despite me being able to afford to rent for years and having a gf I could have got a mortgage with (more her doing) that didn't work out.

If having one blocker is “hard blockers”, I’d love to know what a soft blocker is.

I don't really know what I put him on. I just didn't expect him to play AK or QQ this way, and I block AA pretty hard. But KK makes sense.

I've seen some trash regs put in 40% of their stack with a 4bet bluff then fold before. So I thought a similar thing might happen here. Or I thought he might call it off with some worse hand thinking he's pot committed.
A 4b sizing of 2.1 or an 8x shove is so, so much less standard than 3x for the vast majority of players at this stack depth. If you had a database, you'd be able to see this.
Even playing like once a week, you should know this.

Nah I didn't show this one. Once in a while, I like to destroy people secretively, without them even knowing.

And thank you!

Re: The Return of 6bet me

Day 11 lunch break

Starting lunch break now at 12:25pm. So far I'm up $300 at 100nl and I'm going to say I played my A game. I think I was focused and made pretty good decisions for the past 3.5 hours.

Unfortunately, I missed the Super Sunday tournament, although tbh, I'm not that disappointed. I'm kind of in a cash game mood today anyway, and it's been a while since I last cashed in any tournament, so I don't mind taking a break from them.

You really need to dedicate time to actually studying and improving after this bet is over, you make some easily fixable significant mistakes.

The games I play are so soft that I have hardly any motivation to improve. I might start studying a bit more when I properly move up to 200nl though.

Re: The Return of 6bet me

Hand 33: Implied odds

Some context: Villain is a loose-passive fish. Also this is a 100nl table with 10c antes, so pot odds are slightly better preflop.

9-handed, $240 effective
Villain raises $9.50 UTG
Nit reg calls $9.50 UTG+1
Hero calls $9.50 MP with T9ss
BB calls $9.50

Flop ($39.40, 4ways) Qh Jh 6d

2 checks
Fish bets $19.70
Hero calls $19.70
Everyone else folds

Turn ($78.80, HU) Qh Jh 6d 5s

Fish bets $39.40
Hero calls $39.40

River ($157.60) Qh Jh 6d 5s Kd

Fish bets $78.80
Hero jams $171.10
Fish snap calls $171.10

Re: The Return of 6bet me

Day 11 success - My first "A day"!

Just successfully completed my 11th day of the 60 day challenge, and for the first time, I'm actually going to say that I played my A game all throughout the day, which I'm super proud of myself for. I might not have played perfectly, but I was focused, I was calm, I didn't tilt, and I put a reasonable amount of thought into each decision, which is all I can really expect of myself.

Results went great too! I won a total of 6 buyins at 100nl today. My scores are now:

Bankroll: $8500
Profit at 100nl: $11,000

On a different note: I also want to say that I'm extremely happy with my wife's behaviour since I started this challenge, and I feel like I'm very lucky to have her. She has taken this challenge even more seriously than I have. She hasn't had a drop of alcohol since the challenge began, and many days, such as today, she has done all the cooking, cleaning, dishes and laundry by herself. I didn't even have to get out of my chair. If I was hungry or needed my water glass filled, I could just text her to come and bring me water, and she would come straight away and tend to my needs.

Having a supportive and caring partner makes this challenge so much easier for me and also puts me in a good mindset each day. So I'm very grateful for that.
