Quick update, been grinding some 25NL online lately, been interesting, developing a strategy on there at the moment, but enjoying it.

On the live front everything chugging along, I'll give a big update on my bankroll etc just before I go away to Bali which is on the 24th of this month. Going to be awesome to get away and think about nothing for a while in Indonesia.

Cheers Mac

Hey all,

Sorry about the lack of posting. Anyway, moving along, it's been an interesting period over the last 8 or 10 weeks. As I last mentioned I had my fight, I went away to Indonesia and because of the latter I ended up playing about the same equvilent of one month of hours over the 8 week period.

Everything was going rather smoothly until about 1 week before I left for Indonesia. I had a rough little patch for that last week and ended up making a smallish profit of around 2600$ for that 80 hours before departing. The break couldn't have come at a better time.

Since coming back I was itching to get in and play some cards. Again, everything started well but soon turned again on me. After another 100 hours, I've made around 900$. So essentially the last 180 hours has been considerably below my usual win rate.

The problem that has really come from it all is my mental game issues. I'm lacking motivation, I'm not focused on the points I should be, I'm not enjoying my time at the felt anymore. My body language sucks and I know it.

Because of my mindset I have decided to invest in some self development with Jared Tendler. I've always been a big fan of Jareds stuff since listening to his audio books and podcasts. In the past, just going over some of his literature or audio has been enough to get realigned, but not this time. My first session is actually in 5 hours time with Jared and I'm seriously pumped for it.

I guess, in short, I've been more or less break even for an 7-8 week period and experiencing the less stimulating and enjoyable part of professional poker.

Something that has helped me motivation wise, kept me sane and paid bills has been my resurgence in the online space. I have been crushing online in both tournaments and and cash.

The former hasn't included any huge 5 or 6 figure scores but I won 800USD by shipping a 7$ 280 man multi table my first win in tournament poker ever! I've been getting strategy coaching with a guy from Germany and after just 3 sessions I've seen incredible changes in my game and results.

The other really exciting part has been making $25 per hour over my last 56k hands online. I'm 6 tabling up to 100NL and I've been ripping up on there. In some ways it's also had a negative affect on my mental drive in my live game. When I've been running bad live I just go home and play online instead of getting on the grind live. I guess the flip side of that though is its given me a place to get away from the tough stretch live and still pay the bills.

Got a couple of images attached of my live graph so far, across the bottom is the amount of sessions.

The other images are of a new device I bought called the Varidesk. It sits on your current desk and with gas lift (super easy) allows you to go from standing to sitting. A lot of talk around sitting being the smoking of our generation. Really bad for your waste line and increases the chances of all sorts of diseases. So I've counteracted that with the Varidesk, hurts your legs and back for first little bit standing for such a long time when you're not used to it. I think that probably means it's working my body which can't be bad I guess.

Cheers Mac

Good to hear you're still alive and crushing!

Forgot about this thread!

Still alive, the crushing part is well, I still am looking at the overall sample haha. But the last 370 odd hours have been essentially break even. I had a super wild, fun ride up, so really can't complain. With that said, it really hasn't been an easy last few months, felt like everything that could go wrong went wrong.

Things that went wrong
  • Bad beats
  • Coolers
  • Playing bad
  • Forcing action
  • Floor calls against me
  • All fish beating me
  • Fish spazzing out pre forcing me to fold big flopped hands

The list goes on and on. It was everything, the little things, the big things, they all went horribly wrong over an extended period. I wanted to outline them in case someone goes through it and this helps them in the future. But it was crazy how it all sort of happened at once.

I'm still not totally out of the woods although the other night I had a big 600BB win in a 10 hour session at the table. Was in for 200BBs and had 800BBs in front of me. It was awesome, has done wonders for the motivation too.

I'll check out the format I had previous for my bankroll posts and put an updated one. Have a few hands I'll post too that have been interesting over the last couple of days.

Cheers Mac

I'll post this hand from the other night. I actually had two very similar spots, but the other one has already been dissected by 2+2 posters and some close poker friends I respect. Rather than go through it again just to come to the same conclusion you can see the hand and analysis here: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17...kings-1544694/

Same game $2/$3 Hero with $625 holding QJo.

V - Covers all stacks - Young, unknown, haven't seen any holdings yet apart from AK on KKx board. Seems to have some idea at this stage, but playing pretty snug, nothing strange seen.

Pick up the action on the flop, 5 ways to flop for $15 pre.

(Pot $75) - QJx checks around (including PFA) to hero IP who bets $60, folds to opp who is immediately on my right and he announces call in fairly standard time, not super quick call, not tank, just normal timing.

(Pot $195) - Turn 2, V donk leads $120, hero?

Cheers Mac

I think this hand where u had QJo really depends on the player. I would say since you have a pretty limited amount of info on him you have to fold here. I see it most likely that he checked hoping to get a cheap turn card to try to flush out. Or he is trying to rep it and push u off of top pair type of hands. If you had more info on the player and knew that he was able of bluffing here id say reraise to something like 280-300 but in this specific spot qith what you told me im folding here till i see more hands from him go to show down

Jupiters? If so, in all my experience repping flushes in that game, it 100% works out best for my opponents so my advice would be to snappity snap while saying "I know you have it but I have to call". Ez game
