Hi, I'm Thomas. You may know me from this thread where I get a tremendous sense of accomplishment from lifting very light weights. Or you may know me from this forum, where I used to tell people to fold near-nutted hands all the time. Or you may be a past or present poker player in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and met me during your travels. I've been living here for the last seven years.

I played poker for a living from 2006 to 2017, initially online and then live in the latter years. Most of my time in Cambodia was spent playing live, with more than a few "breaks" from playing. Last year, I began to diversify a bit and started some projects with my business partner poker_triad, who many and more of you probably know already. That was a year that was rewarding and challenging by turns for me, but it led to where I am today.

Enter this country. The poker scene in Cambodia was rapidly petering out for the last couple of years, which is why I was transitioning out of it. Now it it is having a resurgence. It's like four United Stateses were just introduced to Texas Hold'em and they all want to come here and punt. Seeing as none of my side hustles are making me rich any time soon, I've decided to put my poker player hat back on and jump back in it.

I started this thread as a way to be more accountable about playing and to document (some of) my crazy third world life. I've been back at it for the last two months or so, and while I am up money, it hasn't been quite the bonanza that I anticipated. Anyway more on that later. I'll keep the first post short.

Thomas are you playing online at all just to mix things up or are you completely done with that?

Travelling is off the cards atm, so yeah 6th April sounds good. I'll pop into C & C, one of the few hostess bars I haven't been too surprisingly! I presume you can be found in there? Along with Thomas obviously.

I play small stakes games on PPP in my free time but I don't like playing online on mobile while I play live. I'm def down for that beer with you and triad.

For live, just Hold'em. There will be a separate post in the future about my theory that live PLO games smaller than 5/5 are a scam.


Live winrates are irrelevant. The game state constantly changes, and it's been long enough since I seriously played last that I have know clue what it is at present.

Not gonna share my screen names online unless I start streaming twitch or something. I am not suited to write that guide but I can point you to a few candidates who are.

Cool, I used to post on FTR pretty regularly but with a different name you'd probably recognise but not care about. He'd not been on there in ages and you never know if some crazy ***** has killed him.

It's good to see you're doing well for yourself especially on the fitness front. I appreciate the help from back in the day even though I never actually got good. What are you doing in terms of getting better at poker to exploit this little boom?
