Yeah I just figured I have way more stronger hands than him and he'd fold to two bets. Also pre the lineup behind me was 9/10 soft and the CO was getting ready to fold.

I'm doing max exploits whenever they come up. Disrespect opens for sure included

Today PLO went well-ish. In a bomb pot I bet, bet-called off the nut straight & redraw on 467ddKo vs 4 pair for a 5k pot RIT we chopped; same guy as the AAvAKs chop hand earlier. Vs that same guy I bet/called then bet twice when checked to and he had top quads on JT2hh2oJo. Lost a little over 1k at the end of 9 hours and called it a day to be picked up another day.

Nice little 2.5k day cruising thru two sessions of 2/5 regular and 2/5 deep. Also went on two dates that will not be repeated but did the trick. No major hands, going to sleep now and start the deep 2/5 game tomorrow morning.

Hi Viktor ya I'll include HHs more beginning in February when I'm on stars with a hud.

I battled for 9 hours today with 3 of those online. I spoke with a friend that I respect a lot who convinced/reminded me that I really should be playing PLO online instead of live NL for roll building.

Settling into the online grind today. I've started listening to the bigger pockets podcast and am finishing up reading Rich Dad Poor Dad. I liked this quote from it:

“Look, school is very, very important. You go to school to learn a skill or profession so as to be a contributing member of society. Every culture needs teachers, doctors, mechanics, artists, cooks, business people, police officers, firefighters, soldiers. Schools train them so our culture can thrive and flourish,” said rich dad. “Unfortunately, for many people, school is the end, not the beginning.” -Robert Kiyosaki

I made the decision to make my average buyin is a little smaller while I'm re-entering the online realm. It isn't easy for me to play 1/2 plo but pride has no place in the workplace. With that said, in 6 hours I won 4.3k. In another 10k or so I'll bump back up to 2/5 on that site.
I'm not sure how I feel about 6 hours volume-wise. That's a lot for multitabling online plo but I still feel like I should be playing 8 hour days. I think it's something that I'll grow into.
I'm almost done with Rich Dad Poor Dad.. definitely worth the read.
Now i'm off for drinks with a date and then spending a large portion of tomorrow with my father so won't be playing much till Monday.

Ended up 5.8k which is my biggest winning day since being full time. I was taking stock of my emotions as I came up to bed and I didn't feel any elation or abnormal happiness. I think this is actually a really good thing as having lower amplitude emotional swings on both the ups and downs will be necessary for keeping my cool with plo. Tomorrow I've got a live PLO game and then dinner with a good friend.

I've been getting through more of Rich Dad Poor Dad and came across this excerpt that I find thought provoking:
"It is this idea of Robin Hood, or taking from the rich to give to the poor that has caused the most pain for the poor and the middle class. The reason the middle class is so heavily taxed is because of the Robin Hood ideal. The real reality is that the rich are not taxed. It's the middle class who pays for the poor, especially the educated upper-income middle class." He continues explaining that corporations and accountants help the rich pay significantly less taxes than they 'ought' to. I'd known this but I hadn't known it.

Also today while speaking with my father I was reminded of how wise he is and how lucky I am to be able to consult him. We were discussing a point that Kiyosaki makes,, that the poor have expenses, the middle class have liabilities posing as assets (house, car etc) and the rich have assets that provide cash flow. My dad instantly got that distinction about how the middle class have illusory investments. I'm quite lucky to be able to interact with his experience.

Tomorrow... on to the next one. I'm going to make sure I have myself on a leash to cut bluffing in certain spots, I made some notes of them after my session in this game last week, now to execute.

Thanks scarecrow.

Another interesting passage:
"He never understood that the more specialized you become, the more you are trapped and dependent on that specialty."

I dropped a little under 4.5k today live. So it goes. I'll play a few hours online tonight and continue full steam ahead.

I just knuckled down and finished the book. It was a good read for sure, I learned a lot. Perspective widening I would say.

Here was another excerpt I enjoyed: “What I find funny is that so many poor and middle class people insist on tipping restaurant help 15 to 20 percent even for bad service and complain about paying a broker 3 to 7 percent. They enjoy tipping people in the expense column and stiffing people in the asset column. That is not financially intelligent”

You know you're in a great game when the most competent reg in the pool bluffs 80bb with KKxx into a dry side pot on A74hhTQ when I 4bet allin pre and have AA the upper majority of the time. Like seriously what? Mind boggling that this guy plays full time

Thanks man.

I was keeping track in terms of buyins but that gets messy since I'm playing across a bunch of different stakes. I was using 1 buyin : $500 so I'm just going to keep track of $$ from now on.

The second goal I was striving towards was +80 buyins or 40k.
I had a +$4k day today over 6 very stressful hours with an average big blind around $4 so now I'm at +34.5k/40k (the old metric converted to 69/80 buyins).

I actually thought I was down on the day so this was pretty surprising. It isn't good but I got bitter for a short period just seething about how bad this guys strat was and how I was losing on that particular site. These are very bad thoughts to be having, I recognize that. I'm going to try to reprimand myself if they repeat in the future. For real though it's so tilting how this nit shtreg can play such a bad strat and get perfect runouts to get paid in spots that I'd otherwise be able to get away from. I dropped about 9 buyins on this particular site today and still was up $4k. Pretty lol tbh.

Also it's funny to think that from the outside looking in it appears that I'm crushing because my day-to-day feelings are that I'm going through a really stressful slog. The end of December and beginning of January was REALLY rough, I dropped about 20k and was hitting the "danger zone" I've set for myself where I view myself as under-rolled. As of today I've won that 20k back which is a big relief for sure but it did not feel like 'crushing' that's for sure. Maybe my more micro view witnessing the intra-day swing makes me feel like I'm less successful than the macro view appears. Something to dwell on for sure. Anyway I'm happy to have recovered and am looking forward to pushing through to the next goals.

I'm taking the night off to have dinner with an old classmate and then probably hanging out with the girl that I met last night.

Today I played 4.5 hours and won 2.2k. Now i'm at 36.8k/40k.

I really didn't feel good during my last two hours. I stopped twice because I could tell I was getting tilted. My mental game in the past was rock solid, i'm not sure what's going on. It may be that I'm focusing too much on the intra-day swing... but if I had to guess it's that my standard deviation $ per hour swing is probably around 2.5k and that's tough to deal with. My style is very aggro in some spots that results in a lot of churn trying to squeeze out small edges and there are stretches where it goes poorly many spots in a row.. I think there's a little bit of entitlement tilt mixed with just not handling the rapid downs well enough and a little bit feeling underolled despite having what others would consider an adequate bankroll. I am working on it, this will be temporary. I'm going to try to get a little better every day about these issues.

Also some of it may be that I have a small balance on one of my sites (the one that causes me the most mental grief) and so that may be affecting me more than it ought to.

Oh also curious about anyone's thoughts on this youtube clip, ignore the crypto part:

yeah so I got asked out to watch a movie tonight with the girl i've been seeing so I only got in 7:35 today. A little short, not too bad really since 9 was a stretch anyway. And I had a huge day, won 9k. I ran like god and played my normal game. But really, I ran like god. I had a spot vs a maniac where I 4bet J567ss headsup 220bb deep and got 5bet, peeled and flopped a JJ2r and he jammed spr 1 with K899ss. That kind of thing.

Anyway I'm just going to savor it this evening and get in some medium volume tomorrow before my brother arrives. Then I'm going on a trip for a few days and will resume Thursday or Friday of next week. Cheers

Edit: Oh that's right: 45.8k/40k. Ship it

Easy come, easy go. Dropped a little over 7k by losing a bunch of 400-600bb pots. Nice. I'm off on a trip with my brother and father now, I'll be back in action around Thursday and then a little over a week and I'm in England. What's uppppp zoooom

Alright back from my trip. It was really nice to spend time with my family but extended road trips in the middle of no where aren't for me.

I had a lot of time to think and I hatched a plan. Upon returning I intended on firing off 12 1k bullets into 10/20 as I won't have access to these games when I go to the UK and if I lost the money I would still be rolled just fine to play 500plz. I started that yesterday and felt so uncomfortable and stressed while playing that I cut the plan short. I'm back to regular midstakes and have been winning some monies.

I'm up a couple thousand (4k?) since my last update and am sitting at 43.5k/40k. I also found that I'd misaccounted when tabulating my networth and I had double counted 1.5k so that wasn't a nice thing to learn but I'm still quite happy with where I'm at in terms of bankroll and trajectory. Although I do have to send off a bank wire today for my apartment so post-university real life expenses are beginning to accrue.

Yaaa so had a pretty good day today over just under 8 hours, finished up at 48.2k/40k. That's about +5k since last update but the total for yesterday was around +8k including the earlier session I had lumped into my post yesterday. Pretty encouraging stuff especially considering I lost a few 2-3k pots during the session.

Each day is a real grind, for most of the day I was 8 tabling but added in a 9th table at some points and the amount of swing I have to go through to squeeze out the juice is really astonishing. I didn't have an accurate feel for the true amount of swing plo entails prior to going full-time because 3-5 hours of swing a day just isn't close to the same that a full 8 hour work day has. It made me feel like the game was somehow less swingy because it was portioned into smaller chunks. Anyway I'm at peace with it and have managed to make myself comfortable with it.

I had to pay out a hefty deposit, fees, and rent for my apartment that took a chunk out of my networth tally but future withdrawals will be smaller since it'll only be rent going forward.

I'm seeing a friend for brunch today then coming back for dinner and some hours afterwards. I'll probably only get in 4-5 hours today but if I get in 6 I'll be very happy.
This has really been a success, I mean hitting 48k is quite something. I'll see where I'm at when I fly out, it might be a good bit higher.
