We PM'd a bit when you were thinking about moving to my area. I suggested some locations and put you in touch with a broker friend.

As for poker: I'm either a serious rec player, or semi-pro. I've been making a significant portion of my income from live small stakes NLHE since BF.

February was my toughest month ever. I got beat down repeatedly and stood back up and kept firing. My main games this month were 10/10/25 & 25/25/50 live and 500-1k online with some 2/4/8 and 5/10/20 5card plo. I had 2 shots at 50/100 where I brawled but lost 4 pots around 20k, two notable ones being KK to AA3 on K25r and AA v 8764ss basically allin pre. Then I had my 3rd failed shot at 2k online just running far under AIEV like 3betting and getting in J875ds on 752dd vs AQ25 and never holding. In between each of these shots I ground it back up at lower stakes putting in massive hours.

I feel like I took my job seriously and put in the effort that I need to maintain until the WSOP. I printed so much EV it is ridiculous, conservatively 50-55k but probably more.

I got my first dividend of $1250 from my investment in the hard money lender so that felt good.

Also had a bit more clarity & progress on some business ideas which are slowly coming along as well as got my vanguard fund set up and funded. A friend of mine that I have good confidence in started a staking arrangement with me putting him into good games so i'm optimistic about that. Despite my losses I feel really good about this month and feel that I am in striking position for the next month.

good attitude. such a wide buyin spread can lead to pretty frustrating experiences.

That's a crazy difference in the terms of buy-ins you play

Thanks Tyman. Yeah well live 25/50 is the equivalent of 2/5 online maybe softer so playing it is just a matter of bankroll management. I've been viewing $X as a threshold where when I am losing and approaching it, I decrease my average big blind and vice versa. It is working well. As long as I'm willing to drop down and rebuild with A game then I don't see an issue with it. February could have easily been a 70k month.

What's up guys i'm in LA now just got approved for a lease for a year in a good location with a great living situation. I've been grinding a decent amount and will get back to it wholeheartedly after some fun in vegas this weekend. I just got out of a relationship on very good terms so am a free agent for now.

I feel a little overleveraged having started backing someone, buying a car, losing some cash live and being on a downswing online. Putting in some solid hours at midstakes to rebuild my liquid roll is the primary item on my agenda. I'm back at it now

Sounds rough but at least you're in sunny LA now. It makes everything better
You gonna be playing live mostly out there?

Do you mean 1/4 your dosage would have been more appropriate, or do you regret the things you've learned about yourself after a crazier trip? I saw earlier in the thread you mentioned being afraid of learning you secretly hate poker

If i'm going to recreationally do acid again, which I might never, I would try 1/4 of the dosage I did on that trip yea. The former. I am not afraid of finding out I don't view poker as acceptable anymore.. that would have been unearthed by now. I still have some strong reservations about doing it for the long term and would like to move out of it in a reasonable timeframe but I don't condemn it internally

I don't think poker is a good way to make money if you are just starting out. Less stress in NL than PLO. high stakes is dying.

I'm exhausted but still putting in one more session tonight. No traction yet personally but my horse is killing it so there's that. This is going to be a long week now that I've resumed heavy grinding.

Back to even on the year.. going to try and put this stretch solidly behind me. Putting in a lot of online volume and checking out some private games in the area. I'm going to be focusing primarily on poker leading up to the wsop, I don't have anymore trips coming up until then except for one weekend away.

Admirable work ethic man. I've been playing PLO 1k and 2k games recently and the 5-figure swings are getting to me mentally. Prob going to drop down as well to recoup and get my mind straight again but can't help but feel low confidence sometimes.

It'll get to anyone, just the growing pains of shotting higher. Once you have a good shot, it gets much easier to tolerate it after that

Thanks I appreciate it. I'm keeping my chin up. My swings aren't as severe as yours in $ amounts but I get it.
I have a renewed vigor for grinding.. played in a very good private game and got invited into the other games in their network. I need another 120k or so to be adequately rolled for these games so I'm just going to dive in. Would consider getting staked for them which is a little funny considering my roll & that I have a horse myself but I think half the EV with no impact on my net & future EV of additional games/life EV would still be worth it. I'm not relying on finding this tho I'm happy to put the work in myself. I feel very motivated right now, the next few months are going to be intense.

Got invited back to the game today.. it's just motivation to me to grind harder. I'm hurtling towards getting unstuck on ignition. Another 23 buyins to go or so. I will be proud of when I've done it although I've done this rostucko process at these stakes 3 times in the last half year after each failed shot at 2k. I'm coming

Congrats, that shows a lot of mental toughness. Do you have a set number of buyins that you move up/down? I always wonder how bad the stress is on our bodies long term.
