I would've folded the turn, because soulread ranges / player bet strategy (why the f*ck is he betting 55% into the flush and str8 there?) / timing tells are point on, snap shut down my PC and cried for having my aces cracked again with what I'd assume to be like 75% certainty

Call turn, fold river. For you to be good with that runout and action sequence, villain would have had to float with AQ/AJ/KQ with one heart and then commit to the bluff with those combos. You need a pretty sick read that he's overbluffing for you to call down successfully.

I have long been of the opinion that government interference is as big as anything when it comes to killing off online poker, which is why I think for those that still have aspirations of the professional game (not me!!) live is the only way to go.

I really, really hate politicians. ****king hypocrites promoting degen gambling (lotteries etc) of the idiot population as a form of taxation of the dumb. Bunch of ***** all of them...everywhere.

    Villain unknow assumed reg

I don't normally have 5bet bluffing range at 25nlz, but hey ho, I was a little bored and if I did have one, this is pretty much the exact spot/hand for it.

Villain tanked off his entire timebank before he called...I went to the kitchen a poured a cup of tea, came back and the cards were just falling.

Off felt I am inching ever closer to the end of my GPPR consultancy gig... about 11 working days left...

Then June/July is going to be mountains and poker.

      So...

      2018...

Pokerwise, it's been a turdfest. My game has gone backwards...mentally and technically...I'm pretty much b/e at 25/50 nlz and then only if...

I play at peak fish hour.
      I play slowly.

On the other hand I'm up about $150K since the year started at property investment and consultancy gigs (I GDPR)

And basically "The Man" can kiss my butt, because my life nut is sweet and plentiful.

So poker, where are we going? I'm not ready to give it up, but other priorities (mountains and the gym...we have 42 pounds of lard to shift) are going to stop me studying my arse off with a solver, even if I could ever find the enthusiasm to do that...Nae Fkn Chance!

And it seems that, plus the sort of volume I'm never achieving, are the only ways to break out at this zoom game these days.

hmmm. I think a return to the tourney world is looming...

      errrrr....

      Didn't happen did it

I got made an offer I could not refuse (or more accurately, I got given a blank sheet of A4 and was asked to write down my terms for staying on).

As sweet as that is, my motivation was that I've developed a little bit of passion for this whole data protection thing and it seems like something worthwhile I could build on.

Anyways, two days a week for something I really enjoy working with a really great bunch of people in the software industry...seems there is life in the old dog yet.

So where does that leave my poker passion?

Well, I'd already switched back to sngs...the format suits me way better as I get bored after an hour of poker whether I'm up or down. The basic turbo format seems ideal and I'm buying in for micro stakes for a while while I get back in the groove.

Thus far, I'm crushing...the fields are incredibly fishy and two years of cash have left me a better player than when I played them before.

I'm off to Crete for a week in two sleeps; when I'm back I'm going to turn the gas up on both this blog and my sng buy ins. I also expect to play the occasional longer, large field MTT, when I'm on my jack jones for a few days here and there. Have not decided what I'll post results wise...nobody really gives a toss about tourney hand histories and since I'm 100% recreational I don't care about my results...financially speaking of course...egowise I'm all about the win, else I'd just give up.

I guess I'll just revert to funny/anecdotal stuff...there is plenty of that in tourneys.

Obviously, I'll brag like a boss if I bink a biggy.

After two years in the zoom/cash world, two of several differences I've noticed in my SNG game are:

confidence in playing the very short stack (which increases my jamming and jam calling ranges) and a total absence of tilt, when the inevitable variation s**tfest comes to town.

      this bodes well...

The $7 sng field at 6am UK time on stars is possibly the biggest collection of whales at online poker I've ever seen.

Even the regs are so predictable. The reg I eventually got HU with above either folded his sb to me, or limped folded it when I shoved any two. If he had a hand he jammed it (like twice in 20 odd rounds). 16/14/ 3bet 4

fit and fold post flop, couldn't find a bluff if you gave him a dictionary to look it up. #12table#nitbot

If any of you cash players are wondering about the K8 limp...

How to play a dead stack (zero fold equity) 101...with any equity hand, get as many players in the pot as you can

Anyway, enough bragging, if I can remember as I play, I'm going to try and find some really funny sng hands to post...there are so many of them, but I am kinda focussed when I play, so it is a case of remembering to mark them.

Currently on the longest losing streak since I returned to sngs...seven.

I think back when I was trying to grind them full time my longest ever was 14...ish.

however, I seem to have picked up a random Stars cash bonus of $50, which does not even have to be cleared...??? errrr...thank you ??

Currently training on $2-$4 sngs and playing (cannot contemplate using the word "grinding" on my volume lol) at $5 - $10. I'd kinda like to move up to $15-$30 level but I'm holding myself back until I've done some off felt work on my sng game and that is not happening this side of September because life too busy innit.

So I'll just truck on at my current stakes and try and improve on the job so to speak.

Over two months my roll is up 20% which ofc is not a real measurement, but a least I'm not contributing, which as a rec, is my only real goal

Losing streak ended at 12. Not quite my record but enough to make the tilt monster stir in his lair. There's nothing like a tourney dry spell for throwing the sickest of hands. Going well in 45 man I open raise UTG with AA and practically the whole table calls me. I spike an A on a monotone flop, it all kicks off and busto.

I've been thinking about where to go next poker-wise and I've come up with plan A and B

                      Plan A

If I carry on with the two day a week job I've got, I'll just continue the uber low volume recreational SNG gig - because there is just no time in my life to do any meaningful study, so I'd rather just play a style I enjoy at stakes I can beat. I'll post on here if something cool happens, like I bink a decent tourney, or I just have to move up because...well I just have to.

                      Plan B

If the job ends anytime soon, I'm going to set up a part-time SNG grind to fill the empty space. In that case I'll open a new PGC with all the goals etc, and give it a proper go.

At this moment I have absolutely no idea which plan will be in play...time will tell, probably quite soon.

                      ...and on another note.

While I was away from SNGs playing cash, did somebody write a thesis about high blind limping the SB near/in the money in an unopened pot???? Coz every muvver is doing it, fish and regs, and they ain't doing it balanced neither, coz 95% of the time (or better) they fold to my jam (which I do ATC 80% of the time).

Yet I see other regs just checking their option, then folding the flop all the live long day.

                      Funny as ****

Playing on my IPAD with no hud or anything...three tables...you can only see one at a time for those that don't know the Android client.

Playing STT $3.5 or $5 knockout, not sure which it was. 40/80 blinds

I'm utg 12bb with KJs, eight players left, so meh...wtf...jam and the action switches to another table.

When the action switches back I've got 70+ bb and there are three players left, bubble broken.

And we will never know how that happened...but it must have pretty weird as I was just about the smallest stack.

                      ezy game.

I have not updated for a long time, mainly because poker does not play a big part in my life at the moment, but I continue to lurk these forums, enjoying some of the pgcs, both real and fake...and I continue to bang out a low volume of micro sngs (fk me, they are soft ) which continue to grow my on-stars-roll in a hugely unimpressive and insignificant fashion .

And I continue to dream that one day, I may take my poker journey up a gear again...maybe.

Back in the real world, life is a little transitional. I still have my data protection gig, but I'm doing the whole Sober for October thing (it's probably only a thing in the UK) and really focussing on my gym programme. I've been seeing my PT up to three times a week - which costs a buck or two, but I'm making a shedload at the moment, so might as well put it to good use. Also we have a big change in our family circumstances recently, going forwards I/we (as in the Mrs) are going to have more free time...what to do with it, I wonder?

My goal is to drop a stone in October and I'm on course to do that. Bigger goal is to get close to my ideal weight (11 stone 10 pounds) by Christmas. That's probably too big an ask, but we'll crack on anyway.

One thing is for sure...everything is easier, clearer and healthier when the bottle is banned.

22 days to run....hmmmm....given how great I've felt these last few days, I might go down the abstinence always road

                      ...or maybe not

Winning in a downswing...my next pgc title?

Anyways, appears that my edge is so big at these sng fishfests that my roll, she go up even though I'm running like a total turd.

I'm getting ideas above my station again.
