hand 1 I think we just give up on the river. Population generally isn't going to xc turn with ace high so we beat nothing and we expect a lot of QQ+ and maybe AJo if they mix that in as a bluff. Just don't think it works often enough. I don't mind the turn bet though since it's a fairly decent board for your range.
As played and as thought. We chopped tho.

H2. Working my way through Janda book 2 (69% done) and trying some of the bet sizing things he suggests...could totally be the wrong spot ofc . Anyway it stuffs us up as you say. Mucked it.

mini bink $22, 33rd place for $127...only significance is it puts me in position to take a 5 buyin shot at 50nlz, a little earlier than planned.

thought I'd post this hand (I wasn't in it, coz I'm a nit in tourneys) as I think it the first time I've ever seen Ace high take a quads pot

lessons from the "reg infested late stage" of mtt ($22 - buyin)

They steal from ep a lot

they overfold to resteal jams & 3bets

They flat bb on pot odds all the time - this is exploitable post flop, probably down to around 25bb effective.

They overfold postflop (meaning bluffing would almost certainly be profitable in many spots)

If you go deep you need stamina to win and you won't have it if you are dieting, you fkn knobber.

First session of 50 nlz. Cards were very meh, but playing evening time UK there were tons of fish, which is encouraging.

Two most notable hands, both of which played themselves IMO. Apologies for the lack of banter but I've lost my sense of humour at the mo. It'll come back.

With the J9s, if your range is going with a PSB on the flop, I think this hand should probably check back. A9 and overpairs would be the value bets in a polarized range that matches the large size, balanced by all the Kx/Qx/JT stuff. If you're potting it, K9s/Q9s/J9s, 88/66 and Ax make more sense to me as checks. You should probably bet smaller if you want to c-bet at a high frequency on that texture (with more of the Ax stuff being c-bets). I mean, if you're potting it with this hand (and presumably all better hands), your check back range is gonna be very weak. You usually want some top pairs in your check-back range, and this combo seems a good candidate for that.

As played, I suppose you have to call once, but I'd rather not be playing what threatens to be a big pot with such a marginal hand. (If you bet small on the flop, it's a trivial call).

P.S. I only just saw the QQ v JJ hand above. What on earth is villain thinking?

Hey Arty, cheers. Said it b4 but congrats on your modship, very well deserved.

I'm doing a ton of off felt work at the mo...almost all of it on bet sizing, so I'm bound to pick the wrong spots to apply the wrong ideas, and I expect this was just one them. I'm nearly done with Janda's second book and I'll share some thoughts on here on it soon.

Yeah JJ villain throttle up, full on tard mode selected, commence operation stack off lol, if villain had 2.4 more bb when the hand starts I gotta contemplate the fold . It's heartening to see so many fish at 50nlz (and by fish, I always mean proper fish). I don't pay any heed to the "poker world" much outside my own bubble and 2+2, but I guess it's a combination of the way Stars promotes itself, the changes to bonus structure maybe thinning out some regs and an influx of players from new-to-poker countries. Who knows, but long may it continue (it won't ofc).

Notwithstanding how spazzy some of the hands (or questions ) are, i'm well comfortable at 50nlz. Just like 10 & 25 nlz, it is a complete fishfest (at the right times). If my London property, which is nearly ready for market, sells OK (fingers crossed as the market ain't gr8, fkn brexit) I'll be st8 up to 100nlz without delay.

For the first time ever, I cashed one of those freeroll tickets...What A Heap of Crap. You get like $10 for finishing like 10th or sumink and there where 14000 runners. WTF is that all about??? Never again...I'd rather have like 10p.

Being a rec, I never criticise stars, and if they keep providing fish in these number at these stakes, I'm happy, but ffs that p1ssed me off.

                          GL everybody.

                          the importance of focus...

two of three hands into the session and for no reason I can put my finger on, I didn't consider MP having an overpair.

I tanked flop thinking I was over setted, damn near folded and then sigh called thinking "*** it I'll just stack off and call it a cooler".

Villain was a single tabling Canadian with AA.

I have no idea where my head was during the entire hand..., but I do know I didn't check villain once until the hand was over.

Must buck up. Funny tho, w/o the back story, its pretty much "nh wp"

H1 - A3hh - You'll find a lot of people like to 3b these sorts of hands IP, but more than happy to flat it as well because it plays very well post multiway. Honestly, I bet like $1 on the flop just to maybe induce some spazz and get value vs their pocket pairs. Checking behind is fine too.

H2 - 99 - Check river, expect to still win sometimes vs smaller pairs that take this villain line. We have better hands to be bluffing with here.

                            H3 - AKo - Flop's good, fold now.

                            H4 - 99 - Folding.

H5 - T8cc - OTB here I'd rather 3bet this than cold call, sort of hand that does decently HU in 3bp but will be in trouble if we get squeezed or if it goes multiway. As played, think flop's good, I'd bet small on the turn again - I don't expect a MP fish to have a balanced xc range here so we should be ahead of a fair bit. As played, river fold.

                            H6 - Q8dd - WP.

H7 - 79cc - Half pot to 2/3PSB on the turn imo then eval river.

H8 - JJ - Honestly I'd just size up a bit on the flop. It's exploitative because it's a good board for an IP cc range but who cares, no one's adjusting good at this level. So like 50-75% pot otf, or bigger - he's never folding middle pairs and he doesn't have hands with good SDV to float with. As played, turn is good and so is river.

H9 - TT - Easy 5b jam pre imo, unless v is nitty af. Calling the 4b OOP with a hand that plays exceptionally poorly postflop is going to be the equivalent of torching money. As played, I don't actually hate post that much lol - shows you have an understanding of range advantages and board texture at least!

Hands down great analysis TVM GG...as it played in my head...

wtf did you just do (preflop)...Fatboy you fkn moron...let's be honest just gone up to 50nlz, scared money tilt is a factor here

tank, tank, ****, tank. OK that flop is getting cbet his whole range, let's give him some sort of problem (expecting him to call his whole range 80% of the time, if you know what I mean). OK that is good, no raise, turn bricked, let's give him a bigger problem, with a massive math plus EV factor for hero given AK is now a big part of his range. yeah

I know he folded AK, but in future when I tell it, he folded QQ and flashed it to me...and the river was gonna be a king

thanks for taking the time...Looking forward to contributing to some of yours.

                                        Time for a general update

At the felt, I feel my last few sessions of 50nlz have been B game and tilty. Stars 50nlz really is fishy and I'm questioning if some of the plays I'm incorporating from Janda's latest (see below) are really +EV ???

I'm going to tighten things up and use a more elastic bet sizing in the XPLO spots, see how that runs. Abt 60% of my post flop spots are XPLO i would guess (I think I will track that) over the next 3-4 sessions,

I've completed Janda's book first pass and converted it to word and pdf. I'm going to start cutting it down, to extract the key lessons. Also compare his ranges with my existing ones.

My London flat project got delayed a fortnight because of ongoing family issues. It's kinda stuck as I type this, but hopefully will get it back on track in the next 2-3 days. I'm desperate to get the thing on the market, because there is just so much economic uncertainty building in the UK.

Personally I think a general election in the UK is increasing in probability and if Corbyn's lot get in (and stay in) I think the future of online poker in the UK begins to look wobbly. I would anticipate that lot bringing in a ton of anti-gambling legislation.

I've always assumed just as I crack online poker it would be banned...

                                          to misquote Mark Twain

                                          cheers

Posting a 10nlz hand from a recent training session, basically my "balanced" x/r game (both attack and defense) is pretty non-existent, so it's an area I am beginning to focus on - including as in this instance, 3bet pots.

                                          Villain is unknown

This looks like a good spot for picking up villains x/r bluffs, since:

villain is capped (or condensed if you prefer)
villain does not have many strong combos.
villain is struggling to hit this flop.
key factor imo - villain is going to be looking to bluff me off my overcards, which are a lot of my range.

Trouble is do I have a value raising range here and does that even matter?? (ie, given the preflop action, flop texture and flop action can I not just revert to XPLO here and chuck away balance?)
