Great work getting in 50k hands in 3 days! I honestly have to question how sensible that is though? Sure, it pushes you mentally, as you say, but why not just set a monthly (or even weekly) goal?

Arbitrarily setting such a huge goal in a small amount of time is most likely to burn you out rather than improving anything IMO. Then there's the possibility of losing money just because you're tiring/playing poorly going for such an intense goal, rather than consistently playing your best over a month, for example.

I can't see many benefits of this relative to a weekly or monthly goal, in terms of either improving your game or playing your best.

My intentions of this challenge were to improve focus over long periods of time (although i realize this is a bit overkill), to try and stay positive through ups and downs. I am now spending the rest of December and beginning of January grinding 1 and 2 tables of 10 and 16nl. Just taking time to really improve my game.

It's been a while since I've done an update so I think I owe you guys one. Spoiler: my goals have changed!

After my 50k hand challenge I got a backing/coaching deal with someone to play 16nlz. I played about 70k hands at around -1bb/100. And broke even by running hot in crateback. Ended up parting from that deal since my coach was never available and it wasn't really benefiting either of us.

So now I'm getting backed by a friend to play 10nlz whilst getting access to resources through him. Some might just say "just play for yourself and build up your own bankroll.. it's just 10nl". But the reality is that having a backer keeps me accountable and is something that works well for me for a lot of reasons. If I didn't have a backer I would have moved down to 5nl since I wasn't beating 10nl before the 50k challenge but I knew I was beating 2nl. (Short term results for 10nl atm is +6bb/100 over 12k hands)

My current backer recently talked me into doing the natural8 $100- $10k poker challenge. So I'm in the works of setting that up. I hope to start it in the next day or two (which is kinda why I thought now would be a good time to update). The fun part of the challenge is that I have to stream every session on twitch. So now you all get the chance to see my ugly face stream some more poker. My backer and I are currently coming up with a bankroll management strat for this challenge. Not sure if I'll post it yet but we'll see.

So now you're probably wondering, what happened to playing live in London and grinding zoom on pokerstars.

As for going to London in may... there's still a strong chance I go there this summer (June rather than may) and sleep on a friend's couch.. but I won't be playing live (well..i might play a little live since my current backer wants to back me for live if things go well with our current situation). But primarily I'll be grinding up the zoom stakes on pokerstars by studying hardddd and putting in a f*** ton of hours. Which means the time spent on the bankroll challenge will be significantly decreased. (This is open for a little bit of change depending on how the challenge is going)

So should I create a new thread for the bankroll challenge or just keep it all here?

Well that's it for now

Glgl on the tables!

Glad to see an update! Was pretty impressed with your play overall on twitch the few times I watched (CuseMayne on twitch if you remember), and I think that it's a good idea to have a backer moving forward, even at affordable stakes. It's obv important to put how much money you're playing for out of your decision-making process while playing, and instead simply focus on optimal play. The accountability of a backer will help keep that focus, especially when you eventually move up in stakes. The $100-$10k challenge seems like a cool idea, and I think that with enough patience and studying, you have a good shot at it. I'll try and tune in if you stream poker in the near future. Good luck!

To further explain the Bankroll Challenge; I have to turn $100 into 10k within a 12 month period and I get 5 tries to do it. If i am successful, Natural8 poker will match the 10k. Main conditions are that I stream the whole thing and post about the stream before it starts on social media. This is would be a great thing to complete in my first year of going full out in poker. It would set up a healthy roll and take away some of the stresses of living on my own. Anyway I hope you guys tune in. I'm about to go start Day 3.
