maybe if you keep saying it mirage you'll eventually believe your own lies
06-25-2018 , 02:09 PM
are you still using your utg limp strategy, wondering if you think it's +ev at 200z? or only worth it at 500z because of less rake

I'm not using atm, I tested only on 50z, imo it should be super +EV on every stake, probably better than RFI even with rake involved. Thee problem is that it takes a lot of time to get used to that spot and construct my ranges in there, so it would take a while for me to apply it properly at 200z.

In the future I plan doing it, but will wait until I have a bigger bankroll and sample size on 200z proving I'm winning.

If you can make it work at 50, it means your winnings from that position will be sick high at a higher limit with less rake, I agree it seems interesting, worried it might over complicate things though, what about when you end up limp calling with some AQ or AK and never know where you’re at, or if you limp 3 bet and the 4 bets are probably way wider so your jamming range is like ? You know

Not exactly, the limping strat is good because people play poorly vs it, I expect that the lower mistakes people will make at higher stakes will be more significant than the rake decrease.

Pre-flop stacking ranges from what I saw are quite tough, some people spazzed out like crazy vs the limp-raise, some overfolded. I think AK+ QQ+ is ok with some random bluffs like A5s
06-25-2018 , 02:30 PM
What I understood worked for a while for pastorcito was that people were isolating way too wide, I ran some pre flop sims to at least know what sort of hands to raise from bigblind vs his UTG open limping range and it was reaaaaaally tight

so yeah people at first misplay a lot against it because they are used to playing versus recreational players who open limp very wide and generally don't even have a limp reraising range

your limp reraising range should depend entirely on how wide villain is trying to isolate you
06-25-2018 , 02:55 PM
btw, some other tough hands from yesterday's session, will post more later and will use my free time today to study some opponents in the pool, gotta find some guys that are capable of bluffing, can't just fold everything meh.

H1: Vs regfish that was marked as "bets big with bluffs and small with valuebets" Bad fold, right? I've made some sick calldowns vs him when he overbet vs me, but folded a lot vs his normal sizings, what should I do? In gto it's always a call, right?

H1. GTO is always a call yes definitely, need a solid read to make this kind of fold

H2. Given villain showed up with 75s he probably opens 86, may even open 96s and check both of those back on flop then raise turn, can't really fold river to this sizing imo

H3. Usually should check turns a lot when we check raise flop with a wide range, both with good hands and mediocre hands, as played probably check/fold or occasionally check/jam river although 63s probably the better candidate to check/jam over 65

H4. Looks fine but just make sure you're not overbluffing in these spots because it can get expensive really quickly

H1: yeah, probably best to just call and live with it, he showed to me that he was capable of bluffing already, I'm such a pussy. That's a spot that I'm way more comfortable playing vs a very strong opponent, because it's likely that he won't mess up OTR and underbluff, now vs these guys I don't know wtf they're doing lol.

H2: Yeah, gotta call, was too nitty in my analysis, although I expect some players to raise smaller OTT with 2-pairs. But yeah, if there's a chance that he is valuebetting worse, it's an easy call.

H3: Yeah, I thought about checking turn a lot with my strong hands, but gotta do it mostly vs people who are capable realizing that his overpairs have a clear valuebet vs + check(and they also bluff too vs that). I feel a lot of players at 200z are super afraid and just check back turn with a lot of overpairs/bluff candidates after x/r x in that spot. So the best explo approach there is to just check our hands that won't have enough value and realize our free equity, right? While still barreling with our value + bluffs to put pressure on his range?

H4: imo I wish I were overbluffing in that spot, I think it's the best play vs most people, with good hands just leading or x/r smaller and x/jamming with bluffs. But since I'm a paranoid person I end up with a lot of FHs there with that line lol and I think I don't overbluff there. I've looked at my x/r OTR over a lot of hands in spots like that some time ago and I was like bluffing 36% of the time.
06-26-2018 , 07:06 PM
Couldn't play today, was crazy to click some buttons and make my comeback session at 200z but brazilian internet is sooo bad atm(and it isn't even raining lol). So went through my database looking to find some leaks, focused specially in spots I play as the pre-flop caller. It seems I'm underdefending turn and river after calling flop, but I think it's like that because I focus so much on the x/r, so my x/c range is quite weak. Maybe I'm x/r hands that play better as x/c, like 98 on 976r. Also population isn't going nuts triple barreling like crazy and explo folds are super important at 200z imo. But I think that I should defend more in those spots vs the better regs and some fish too, I'm folding turn and river around 45-48%.

Also I've paid some extra attention on spots where I call flop, call turn IP and jam river when checked to. I'm underbluffing like crazy in there, it's probably like that because I should be turning some stuff into bluffs rather than just check back to see showdown. Like with JTdd/AsJx on JQ2ss 3r 9s. I think a lot of population underbluff there too, although there are some guys that love to call draws and they could easily overbluff on blanks.

Some hands I found in my database that I think are interesting

H1: Is this a call in GTO OTR? My guess would be yes, I folded there because the guy was going nuts OTT while super passive and giving up a lot OTR

H2: Is this a call? Board looks like a std call for TT, right? Do you think fish overbluff OTR? Like those guys that love turning AQ/AK into a bluff. Vs regs they're usually bet bet jamming, but this is one of the only kind of board that I think that it could be profitable to bluffcatch vs population. It's way better to call A9 ofc, TT/JJ blocks a lot of bluff combos

Still with internet problems, since today is basically a holiday(brazil is playing), I took the day off and I'm just studying poker today. Will focus on studying how fish play and try to find some exploits!

I found out that I have around a 33k sample on a specific fish lol, with all cards open!

Spoiler:

It will be fun, later will post some other stats cool hands haha

vaaaamo!!!

JFC, there are soooooo many spots, I think even if I take today all day everything I will be able to analyze will be limped pots(not even all, but the ones I've put some significant bbs in them lol). Could do some macro analysis too, but I think that looking carefully at the hands is better.

Some hands so far

H1: this is the first hand already lol, wtf is that river check back, my sizings weren't telling me much, maybe they're bigger because I was afraid of the flush draw?

H4: dat turn min-raise lol! Always the nuts. The funny thing is that rapifish was calling way more with draws rather than going aggro with them, from what I see, fish go more aggro with no equity hands, so when bluffcatching vs them, it's better to ignore the most usual runnouts where regs won't bluff enough because all bluffs got there.

H6: this one shows the lack of understanding in relative hand strength, I see a lot of fish overplaying hands because they got better, like here, weak Ax is a valuebet, but not a jam in there, unless if it would be a hand I was turning into a bluff(which I'm 100% sure it wasnt ever lol). I see a lot of fish bet bet 50% 50% with TP, then when the highest card pairs, they just pot it because they got trips, while their hand strength is close to the same.

H7: The old fear of the flush, for some reason, fish always are afraid of flushes, it's just insane to see rapifish checking back such a strong hand OTT, the best way to counter this kind of play is to donk when the flush comes when we have it, also to be way more careful with bluffs/valuebets after a fish checks in a flush card, they're far from uncapped

H8: that's one of the first folds I found out lol. I was 100% sure rapifish would call OTR from the hands I've seen so far, the interesting thing is that the board wasn't that scary, the only thing that was different was the overbet. I was already doing that, going super big vs fish to make them fold and don't bluff ever for 75% sizing because fish don't fold that hand ever in there for that sizing.

H10: One tendency I'm finding out is that rapifish(and his villains) usually give up OTR after x min-raising the turn with their marginal hands, also they do it with a lot of weak SDV hands, like a protection raise or something vs the flush. Also I've seen a lot of hands where I was super aggro semibluffing(even with SDV) but giving up OTR

H18: about the stab-check line, since fish mostly do it with some sort of draw, how should we approach OTR when a lot of draws complete? Rapifish is also stab-checking a lot of random garbage too, but from what I see he is more likely to keep betting with SDV stuff, while his draws are close to 100% checked back OTT. Really hard to have a sample sizing on that. Better to call on every river and fold bricks vs that line?

H27: interesting one, with fish stabbing a lot and checking back with a lot of terrible hands, maybe bluffing some weak stuff could be good, because we know that if we check on villain's shoes vs a fish, the fish will likely bluff a lot, so it's better to bluff ourselves. Also with SDV we can check to induce and call again OTR. That line I discovered has been the most interesting thing so far, when fish stab and give up OTT and try to bluff the river when they see they have nothing.

H32: pot OTF is always overplays like that, trying to get value from flushes. It seems fish love to put their opponents in draws when they have a reasonable SDV hand and forget that they could have a stronger sdv hand. H34: found out another cool tendency of rapifish, whenever he has a draw, if villain bets super small, he will just call it and rarely raise it(ofc he would raise with a lot of other type of ****, but with draws he is playing close to 100% as calls vs a small sizing). Maybe with AK/small PP IP we could exploit that by betting small OTT(like 10-20%) and check back rivers, get some thin value and avoid a tough spot. Also another tendency I saw is that rapifish is more likely to donk when his draw misses, but if he gets sdv he is happy to check.

H36: The give up OOP, yeah, it seems that whenever a fish triple barrels, he is quite strong, specially with that flush OTR, From what I've seen so far, it's very common to see even sets/2-pairs in rapifish's checking range OTR

H37: min-raise as a bluff, jesus, that bluff is so random. The more I see stuff like this, the harder I see that it is to exploit huge vs fish. But so far, after calling flop and min-raising turn, it has been the nuts an insane amount of the time. Also gotta pay attention on 1-to-straight rivers, it seems fish will always keep bluffing in there

H39: sick GTO hand! Turn was a super scary card, so we gotta pay attention to that, it's likely that fish will throw random bluffs in turn cards like that. The funny thing is that scary cards are different for fish and regs. Usually when the second pair doubles OTT it's a more scary card for a reg(specially after betting big OTF and getting a call in there), but fish usually consider scary cards as flush, K, A and 1-to straight and 1-to flush ones imo.

H40: another one of those protection flop bets OTF/OTT, then OTR came a super scary card and rapifish just jammed as a bluff. It seems like calling with any SDV on those scary rivers is good vs fish, I was folding a lot in there, specially if we add that a lot of hands are betting for protection OTF/OTT, so they won't connect well with scary rivers, but will always bluffs. Also since most draws check back OTT, it seems that fish overbluff like crazy in those spots after betting turn

H41: jfc, another super random bluff lol. I fold a lot to those donkbets OTR when the flush comes, but fish is way more likely to have a flush in boards where there was a flush draw OTF, BDFD is quite rare. Really tough spot to hero call though

H43: interesting one, OTR rapifish makes it way bigger than a min-raise, maybe it was like that because there was a flush possible and he sized up to get some money from coolers. Good to pay attention on that! If I had a flush I'm pretty sure it would be closer to a min-raise, so if we have a flush and get min-raised, we can call if we think villain has a weaker flush, now if he makes it big, easy fold. Also if we have a FH and are afraid of a bigger FH, if the raise is smaller, we can just jam because it's more likely that the fish has a flush! Vs a big sizing we can just call our FHs

Done for today, tomorrow if the internet is still terrible will continue this. Tbh I'm seriously thinking about continuing analyzing this even if the internet is good, having lots of fun and learning a lot. I'm not very confident in my reads vs fish and it seems that by doing this kind of work I'll be able to soul read them more and make way less mistakes. Lost more than 10 BI this month with misplays vs fish. When I'm done with all those hands I'll probably make a post with my final analysis and ask for some opinions to see the reads are right. Maybe later I'll see how I played NL2 when I first started out in cash games, I probably played very bad in there. Ofc not even close to all this mess haha.
06-27-2018 , 09:27 PM
did you leave cash games pool?
06-28-2018 , 04:23 AM
Nobody is interested in those crappy and irrelevant hands, so you should stop wasting time spamming them, and just focus on your usual crappy hands.
06-28-2018 , 05:27 AM
Yeah for once he is right , you are butchering your own thread with walls and walls of these hands that are a new level of TLDR,

one or two hands would have sufficed
