Hello everyone,
It's been 4 years since last time I posted a thread on 2plus2. Looking back my last threads back in 2016, I was still a live low stakes grinder who enjoy playing poker as a part-time hobby, never did I imagine to become a guy who struggles at online high stakes every single day (tho back then I loved poker a lot more than now)...
A little background of me:
I'm a Chinese pro player living in Canada who have been playing cards for a living for 3 years. I learned the game in 2014 from friends in grad school, and after only few months I started punting money on 1/2 and 2/5 in my local casino, with the money I earned from hard coding work in the office
(About the title in case anyone is curious, a fella called me
"1/2 clownass" in an NVG discussion
. I do find it funny to see someone having no idea about u just using your posts 4 years ago to define u...).
Anyhow, fast forward to 2017, the poker boom in China started and it changed my life dramastically... I still remember playing 1/2 rmb (like NL25) on this phone app and crushing guys on the table all basically only learned poker rules a bit. Then I realized there are a lot higher stakes game existed on all those new Asian sites and started grinding for a bankroll and climb to the stakes that I can make a living with. Eventually, I quit my decent job as a programmer and started to chase the pipe dream....
Why I started this thread:
I really enjoy reading PGC and always find motivations from some great threads. But I can't find a decent thread that is about challenges of high stakes on Asian sites. I think sharing my poker and life stories related to the games I grind would be a good addition to PGC. Also, as the games getting tougher on the stakes I play, I need a disciplined grind/study routine and life style. I need myself to progress in both poker and life in the first year of my 30s!
"Don't spread money making opportunities / What sites do u play":
Nowadays, these sites are no secrets anymore. Anyone can find an agent on google and deposit in 5mins to start the grind. However the competetion and restrictions on Asian sites are getting 10x tougher than 3 years ago. Collusions, sick swings, Banning foreign IPs etc. I don't think sharing my stories here would still be an issue for regs who are making money there like me. Yet I still won't share the name of the sites I play because again it's easy to find but hard to get into if ur a non-Chinese player, and it's getting much harder to beat (I've seen so many "zoom500 winners" cannot beat the site over decent samples).
Graph this year so far:
(On the sites I play. The real winning will decrease to less than half after the rake/ share of the host/ forced buying insuance...)
Goals for this month (until April 15th):
[] 60k hands
[] 1 hour Pio study, Finish Kanu7 course.
[] Minimum 1 hour workout
[] Lose 3kgs
[] Build a stable daily routine based on above goals
Thanks for reading, sorry if there's any English errors.
Looking forward to share more of my poker life and the progress I will acchieve!
