This guy isn't even close to a degen as someone in the thread suggested and he won't be playing 10-25 any time soon. I met him about 2 months ago up there and he is a very solid player from the little I saw when we played together.
I have no doubt that he will do fine and like I told him today , just get ready to run like **** and for a few weeks at a time. It happens, it always will and you have to be prepared for it. Winning is obv the ez part. Wishin OP nothing but the best

Wow what a grind of a day.

Had some early success before I moved tables then I proceeded to play my C game at best. Ran bad in some big pots but made some pretty terrible crying calls a few to many times.

So was in for 1800 at that table an was down to 120 lol, doubled up AJ v A4 them doubled again when a guy bluffed a missed flush draw. Played a hand really well and got top pair paid off on a super dry board. Then had aces fade a flush draw for a 1500 pot weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. All in the last 20 minutes of me playing.

So ended up in the green for the day, which I didn't even realize until I was driving home. Thought I pulled out the most epic 300 loser of my life bu didn't factor in my other tables so was a 300+ winner!!!

What a roller coaster and what a grind. Taking tomorrow off and resting, gunna work on my game too, have to always be improving if I want to keep doing this.

Agree with Bansooner... Get ready for the worst run you have ever seen. I have about 4-500 hours of breakeven @ 2/5 and 5/10 in the last 7 or so months and I'm just coming out of it as of last month. I was running like God for about 800-1000 hours just before the breakeven stretch started and it made me want to kill myself. Lol. I can remember 1 week getting a set all in on the flop against bare flush draws 4 different times all for 3k-4k pots and losing every one. And that's not even the half of it. Thanks!! Yeah def understand the running bad part of the game, I feel that grinding 180s on stars has helped my mind set for grinding live.

Nah I'm from Houston so I don't get up that way unless its Choctaw for the WSOPc. I usually grind in town or in Lake Charles, LA.

You can be a good player and still a degen. Stu Ungar is a good example. However, even Stu never played HU online with only 4 buyins to his name. That's a whole nother level of degeneracy.

Cats got a very good sense of who likes them or not and acct accordingly. I've had cats all my life but also like certain breeds if dogs while I cant stand others. Some are just plain dumb. Had a german sheppard as kids and it's a great dog.

Well yesterday was the worst session that I have had since starting this, -1300. I played excellent for the first 3/4 of the session then got 2 outted in a pretty big pot. That got me a little off my game, played a little looser than normal an got owned in two pot a guy checked the 2nd nuts to me an snap called both bluffs.

Almost saved the session though and got top set in vs a straight flush draw, but he first pitched his draw and I couldn't boat up. Gunna take it easy today, play a little online and work on my game. Probably post some more car stories here in a little bit.

Your upswings far ought weigh your downswing... It's part of the game. Don't let it get in you head... keep studying, learning, growing, etc... We're all pulling for you to be successful, you def. have what it takes.. Keep up the good work.

Thanks man, yeah I know losing sessions are part of the gig...def didnt bother me to much, still don't like losing. But main thing is that I keep studying an learning and becoming more mentally sound

He's on a downswing. I don't have all the updates and it's his thread so I wldn't post anyway. I hope he chooses to post even when he's losing and running like dog shat. It's almost therapeutic. Whether it's bad beats or bad play there is just something to writing it all dwn and being open. If he listened to anything I said he knew this was coming and it is inevitable no matter how good u are and like I said before I think he's very good.

When he didn't post yesterday I assumed he was on some sort of sick 24 hr bender...playing with the last $200 from his wallet...trying just to turn it into breakeven. Given that he hasn't posted today, I assume he has been on some sort of sick 48 hr session...playing with his last $200, trying to turn it into breakeven.

I looked for him last night but didn't see him so I don't really know. He'll be fine in the long run for sure but he definitely didn't have enuff of a roll to be playing 2-5 imo. TBH a 4k roll for 1-2 isnt enuff (20 buyins isn't hard to lose)

As simply a poker bankroll (ie living expenses separate), $4k is sufficient for 1/2. I also believe he is sufficiently rolled for 2/5 if he is using a backer as he stated which brings his virtual bankroll above $10k.

Disagree & I am a 'shot taker' for sure. I guess it depends on what u think 'enough' is. To me it's being able to run like **** for a 2 week period and still be ok to play the stakes you're in. With 4k and $200 buyins u can't sustain a full week but w/e , I forgot about the backer

We'll just have to agree to disagree in regards to bankroll. I don't see how any player could lose $10k over a period of time at the game he is playing without significant leaks (ie without being a losing player or playing really bad poker during the period referenced).
