Protential's Make Up Removal Plan
About me: I am a 20 yr old full time player. I started playing poker with friends when i was 13, and started to become a winner when i found and joined these forums (3 yrs ago).
I am backed by a professional player and have been with the same backer for 1 yr (pretty much as of this month). While playing backed i have taken many shots at 200$+ mtts (going for dat biiiiig score!), doing so has destroyed my stats and put me fairly deep into make up (25k deep, $40abi).
I have been in make up for 7 months, and over the last 3 months i have gotten 18k deeper.
In order to clear my make up i am chopping out of my schedule all of my higher variance games. I will also be game selecting the midstakes games that i play and mixing in more sngs and satelites.
The Poker Goals:
1.) Clear my 25k in make up by end of may
2.) Play 1500+ games a month (3k at most)
3.) Focus on my best games with my best hourly/roi
4.) Do pre session HH reviews before every session
5.) Update thread after each session for motivation/keeping track
The Plan:
I will be mostly playing mtt's (0-109$, 20$ abi), i will be focusing hard on game selecting and looking to maximize my hourly and roi, and thus lower my variance. I will also be mixing in 12$ 180's, 3r 180's, 27$ 45's, and satelites. My entire volume will be exclusively at Pokerstars.
While working to achieve this i will still be keeping balance in my life, i want to workout a bit more often then what i have been (1 time a week on avg) and to eat healthier and cheaper (less eating out!). I think that the goals that i have set are very achievable, and with some dedication i will complete my task at hand ^.^ .
Thanks for reading, best of luck at the tables!

Re: Protential's Make Up Removal Plan
I never understood how you guys who are in makeup make a living. Do you just live off of savings until you are back in the green or have another form of income? Dont have to answer if too personal just was curious

Re: Protential's Make Up Removal Plan
thanks for the support guys! Going to be starting it hard with a long nightly grind later tonight, going to be sticking to the soft nightly **** until miniftops then run 12-16 hour days through all of miniftops (maybe a few shorter ones ^.^). Good luck if you are grinding!

well i pretty much live off of when i clear by a lot (hit profits), just gotta smart with my extra money after a score in case of bad downswings.
Although i have been in make up for so long that now i live off of my fpp's+backing people essentially (back a couple 1-2$ grinders).
While i haven't done great for myself over the last yr (made like 25k+ for myself?), i'm still making a bit over minimum wage (i've made like 10-15$/hr i work 40-70 hours/week).

I know you have heaps more MTT experience than I do and I do respect your opinion a lot, but I've always thought that the late night 33s that run like ever hour seem super duper soft and have loads of value in them and smaller fields which should reduce variance; the one problem is getting in volume imo as FTP doesnt have much of a late night sched

i agree, although even late night volume is still easy to keep with 1 site. easy to 12-16 table all night between mtts n sngs n satties.
My backer also agrees that the nightly grind is farrrrr softer then usa mid-day.

Re: Protential's Make Up Removal Plan
Good luck getting out of that hole! I've never understood how people can get so deep in make up. Thats like 600+ buy ins right? That can't be standard... or is it? I'm not really up to speed with MTT variance, I imagine it could be brutal with bigger field stuff...

its common with shottying which prot has done; hes also run rlly bad on FTs that ive watched (quite a few) so thats attributed to why its more as well
