11k Post

It has been an interesting 3 months in Canada. I can definitely say that I didn't expect it to go the way it has, my results up to this point, nor the fact that I am once again changing backers in mid April. I also really didn't think that I'd end up being able to play in the EPT Grand Final in a month! :O

My results/EPT Seat:
My tournament results in canada have been fairly frustrating. My first few weeks went awesomely, however since then I have essentially broken even. Even though I've ran deep in like 10 majors (ftops included)! I can't say I'm happy about those results, however I was very very fortunate this last weekend on my own dime in a satellite run.

On friday I decided to check the satty lobby to see if there were any good satties running for the weekend tourneys. I noticed that a 500fpp satty was in late reg and was likely to overlay, so I decided to hop into it. From there I won entry into a 5,000fpp buy-in satty for a 25,000fpp satty to the EPT Grand Final in Monaco the played out on Saturday. Didn't really think much of it, and had forgotten about the 5k satty until it started part way through my grind. A few hours later I had won my way into the 25k satty (essentially turned 8$ of fpps into a seat worth 430$ at this point).

I was pretty excited as it was 1 of the largest buy-ins I had played on my own dime and was hoping I could run decently. 5 hours later...

I turned a 500fpp(8$) buy-in into an EPT package worth nearly $18,000 USD, all on my own dime! (my biggest personal score to date!)

This win will allow multiple of my dreams to come true and will be the experience of a life time (never been to europe and have always wanted to play in an EPT). I will be doing a detailed trip report for it and can't wait to share the exp with all of you!

I have only a week left in Canada now, and will be trying my best to clear the 7k in make-up I currently have. I plan on changing backers when I do so (joining Imawhale I believe). I am really excited for what the next 3 months will bring and honestly couldn't be any happier. ^.^

Thank you all for reading and best of luck at the tables!

Thanks! I'm sure it will be.

Ya, I've heard a lot of good things about them. The no make-up model is interesting, also my current backers cant really afford me at the moment, thus making the switch seems to be the best for both of us.

That's awesome! Does your bf get to go with for free, too? I couldn't read the email, too small. An 18k trip, that's sweet!

We have to pay for travel expenses only (received some money for them though). Hotel is covered by the package. (in a really sick hotel)

gl at ept grand final, im sure your going to have a good time in monaco.

you might not want to reply to this publicly but from your experience do you get abused/niggled alot on the live scene in the states/europe for being homosexual? Would go along way to me deciding whether i should head to wsop for the 1st time this year.

Thank you!

I'm always very openly me at the tables (I dress somewhat flamboyantly, sometimes a bit outrageously) and have only had very slight issues in the usa for being gay. (Drunk douches at WSOP)

I've played in some fairly small town type casinos and never really had problems and feel that at the poker table people are pretty accepting.

I'd also say that the series in general is one of the better places to play and be openly gay. (pretty liberal atmosphere)

I know 5-10 people who are gay and going to the series this year, if you come down definitely post in the GLBTQ thread on 2+2 and if we have a meet-up come to it!

In my country people would NEVER care if someone is gay.. I never understanded people that have problems with someone's sexuality. (Ok, I live in the most liberal country in the world: Holland/ The Netherlands). I would have a BIG problem when I like a girl and I find out that she doesn't like men.. xD kiddin!

Anyway: I would never expect that people at a pokertable would act weird cause of someones sexuality, cause of the psychologic social control.. But I can imagine that in a country like the US (muscular culture ) people act dumb like that.

And if u wear feminim clothes.. So what.. Just keep beïng who u are, man. (Cliche's are true sometimes..)

I hope people won't be offended by the following, but: the middle-east and the US hate each other. The differences between those 2 seem to be super big in first look! If u give it a closer look, though, I always see so many simularities. 1) One leader screaming something and the people follow like a 'chicken without a head'. 2) Extreme religious and following those lines without doubting. 3) And (in this case): extremely against homosexuality..

I know it is a little bit simple to put it like that but just trying to explain my view on it Always found this an 'interesting' point, even though i'm a heterosexual living in Holland, so never faced the problem really xD

Anyway: sorry for zooming in.. Let's talk poker again lol

I thought Holland was fairly liberal as well and gay friendly. It isn't?

It is, incredibly so, but to claim outright tolerance is pushing it just a tad.

Yep!

First country where 2 people with same gender could mary..

Jesusjappie means that here are incidents as well.. that is true, but less than in other countries. The incidents were most of the time in Amsterdam where people with middle-eastern origins were insulting and offending homosexuals.. the fact that these incidents, in that period, were a major issue in the Dutch media, says enough about the culture & mentality..

It is also culture in Holland to be negativ about Holland.. We call our country 'our froggy country' and other simular nicknames.. The cultural aspect of being negativ aboit our country is that same aspect 'Jesusjappie' is exposing Lol

i'll be doing a full trip report as soon as i have time to write something up. I'm back in vegas right now for the day, leave tomorrow for Rosarito Beach for scoop though.

Might have enough time during scoop to write something up, probably wont have the time to write until wsop or later >.<

It was a great trip and we had a lot of fun on it and it will certainly be something we will never forget.
