2 days left in mexico, and my last week here has been the best week of my time here, being up nearly 15k. Hoping i can finish on a really strong note.

Either way i'm very happy with where my game is at, and with the schedule i am grinding and am very confident in my ability to grind out of make up before wsop starts.

I'll do a full mexico update sometime over the next week while I am in the states.

Ty for reading, and best of luck at the tables!

Ended my time in mexico with a winning sunday, took 3rd in the 215$ NLO8 weekly for 3.4k or so, and had a top 250 finish in the mill.

The plan was that we were originally going to go to canada on monday, and move back to toronto, but plans have changed a bit and we decided it would be best to stay in USA until january. So because of that, we might be able to do PCA *crosses fingers*.

While i have my month of time off in the usa, going to be trying to get in as many coaching sessions as possible with new/current students, and continue working with the stable that I have been.

I'm also working on a couple other poker related projects, can't really say much on either right now though, soon as I can I'll let you guys know ^.^

Should be a relaxing and fun filled month, and can't wait to get everything accomplished here that i'd like to.

Been a long time since i've updated this, but really havn't been doing much. At the moment i'm mostly waiting to hear what is going on with my backing situation. Might be getting dropped/sold. Won't know for around a week.

Hope everyone's holidays have been going well!

Best of luck at the tables.

Good news, I wont be getting dropped/sold. Plans will be continuing as normal, will be moving to toronto in early jan, and will be back grinding before the start of TCOOP.

I'll be in Washington D.C. in 9 days, i'm really excited for it, my first time ever in the capital.

Looks like things have once again changed.

Backer and I have decided that it is best to end our deal, so because of that he is dropping me by selling me my mu for a very low %. (i'll pay it as i clear mu on my new deal)

Most people when they get told they are getting dropped when nearly 70k in make up, are probably jumping for joy, but, to be honest, if anything, I'm kind of sad.

dirty.brasil was the first backer who really trusted my judgement for things like game selection and handling of funds and other stuff, and over the 8 months I go to know him I also got to be able to consider him a good friend (and will continue to do so ^.^ ). So, having cost him a large amount of money through staking, makes me feel as though I failed him to some degree (although none of it has been my fault).

I guess that I just want to always do well for those who invest in me and put faith in me as a person and a player. Obviously there are things out of my control, and you just have to accept what happens when things don't go to plan because of that...

The good news is that I already have a new deal in place, and will be working with andressoprano and his staking team (the group I do coaching for and manage people for). I'm excited for what this deal has for me, and I'm certain i'll be able to have a very profitable 2013 with them.

A week from now i'll be in Washington D.C., and 3 weeks from now i'll be back in Toronto and grinding online!

Should be a fun and interesting next 3 weeks, and I can't wait to see what 2013 brings for me and my bf!

Happy Holidays and best of luck at the tables!

That plan involves me needing around a 100k life roll (post taxes). So if i profit 400k from poker while backed this year, should be able to go on my own by next year.

I dont get this. You basically bought your makeup on yourself (on a low %) and clear the money you bought on your new deal?

He wanted to sell me or drop me, and as selling me wouldn't have been good for me, and hard for him to find, I gave him an out by offering to buy my MU for a small % (under 10%). Which i'll pay back as i clear for new backer or get a new deal.

Essentially it's a nice gesture by me, and ends the deal very amicably.

not sure if its a nice gesture. he coulda just sold you to someone for 10% and you woulda been in a huge hole to start a new deal.

seems like a nice gesture by him!

Your average buyin last year was $39 and you need $100k to go on your own? You probably think I am piling on because I dislike you, but c'mon. Clearly you should either (a) play lower so that you don't need 2,500+ buyins or (b) consider a new profession. Not to mention that deciding to go on your own isn't a permanent decision. If I played the stakes you did, I'd go on my own briefly and see how it went. There's nothing preventing you from reobtaining backing in a month if it goes badly.

And a huge +1 to this. You've been handed a huge gift. I see you've already spun it so that you're the good guy. Good luck not squandering it!

It was a nice gesture by him as well obv. Although I wanted to stay with him and grind out, so I can't say that it was exactly what i wanted either...

As far as him selling me, I highly doubt that he would have gotten above 20%, and if he had found someone willing to offer him 20%, I would have just offered 20% myself and found a separate deal (less mu i have to clear).

Me agreeing to pay him x% when he just dropped me is not something required for horses to do (usually the mu disappears), however it allowed him to drop me easier, as he wanted to do vs having the hassles of trying to sell me.

Either way it wasn't a great situation for either of us to have to be in, and I dislike that it happened. So it goes.

100k is what we'd feel safe having to completely have me on my own.

That's enough to pay for college for chris, enough to cover a year's living expenses, and a poker roll for me (i'd be fine with a 20k poker roll).

I'm pretty nitty with money, and like to be overrolled.
