Happy Turkey day! This may be obvious to you, but many runners neglect to replace their running shoes regularly. Worn out shoes/soles will **** up knees/hips. My sister's a running beast with hip issues, which were dramatically reduced when she began replacing them every 2 months instead of 6.

Fail on the goals for the week, as modest as they were. Also sick again at the moment so not really in grind mode. Hope to be 100% soon and will get back with goals when I do. Just gonna take care of as many loose ends with family, friends, and the house until then.

It's definitely been a while since I replaced them. I'm only running on trails these days which I would think would me less need to replace often but I'm sure that I am due either way. Thanks!

Back to feeling good and ready to work hard this week. Was pretty slack last week. Most days I just played a couple hours in the morning. Ran very well though and ended up around +$9k. Don't think I posted totals from the week before but looks like it was -$2k.

Also just realizing gap in my Ignition HHs that I wanted to note here for myself and if the taxman ever comes around. During this gap I was down 5k on Ignition.

I guess I should remove the "(Learning PLO)" from the title. Possibly could even remove the "on the ropes" but that might be getting ahead of myself. Still very far from cruising here. Only a couple more full weeks of work before the taking off for Thailand. Trying to put it into bust ass mode here until holidays at least.

This week:

[] 3 hrs yoga

[] 1 run

[] 10 min med daily

[] 1 hr study

[] 30 min HH review before tomorrow night

[] Know my full list of Thai words (100 or so now) forwards and back (English first and Thai first)

[] Pwn all the things

Chohn Gaaeo!

Pretty well rounded fail on last week. Completed about half of goals and lost 3-4k. I'm feeling overrun with things to do before Xmas and leaving for Thailand. The house and my car are falling apart all at once too just to add some more excitement in there. The kids also have a bunch of end of school stuff coming up. I'm going to try to get everything done that needs to be done before I return to the grind. It's just no good having everything hanging over my head when I'm working and then when results don't go well, as is more likely to happen when I'm distracted, the stress just multiplies and carries over into the rest of the things I need to do.

Cliffs: Adulting is hard.
Hope to be back on the grind soon and/or have a year end review before we head out but if not, Happy Hollidays 2p2ers!

I'm off to replace a faucet, go to a kid christmas show, shop, make and wrap some presents, transfer all poker programs and data to a laptop for the trip, get license renewed, call a mechanic, replace a fire alarm, and then check the list to see what else I need to do .

Well, I've been meaning to get back here for a while and just never get around to it. Didn't think it had been two years, though. But I'm back and poker has been going really well... JK. It's been awful for months now. Hence the "back"ness. The past year and a half before were decent though and as usual I put it back into cruise control, stopped exercising, studying, meditating, stopped pushing myself. I came reaaally close to to starting up the thread again while things were going well but once again it takes my soul getting crushed consistently for a while to knock sense into me.

I read my op here and it was pretty much exactly what I was coming here to post today. I guess that should be comforting. Someone has gone through all these same stresses and thoughts before and it's... past me. I've been waking up around 530 everyday for the past 5 or 6 weeks now to just find extra hours in the day for grinding and getting things done and I didn't even remember that I had gone through the same after downswinging and starting this thread.

Last year was decent, around $120k from around 200k hands at 1k and 2k nl on ignition. This year I was up around 80k halfway through the year and then went on a nice 40k downer. Since then I have been knocked down to 500nl and now even playing a fair amount of 200nl zoom and have basically made nothing the past 3 months. This will likely be the worst year I've ever had as a professional poker player after doing it for 14 years.

I had two computers die on me and I hadn't backed up HM in a long time so I have big gaps in the db. I now have my whole set up running on a virtual machine that I back up weekly so at least when I destroy the next computer it will be easy to get started on the new one.

I have some serious accumulated tilt and by the end of my session yesterday I felt close to losing it. Bills are rolling in, funds are rolling out and it feels like a new and terrifying level of stress. Reading back over my old posts I'm not so sure though. Anyway, time to get back to focusing on process and not just mindlessly grinding away focusing on results.

We're already halfway through the week and I'm not going to play today.

Today's main goal was just to finally post this. [x]

For the week:

Meditate 10+ min per day []
Haven't been doing this or yoga nearly since my last post.

45 min exercise per day[]
No, future me, walking a discgolf round doesn't count. Yoga, weights, or running.

Study 1 hr per day []
Can be vids but need at least one hr of self review.

1k hands per day starting tomorrow []

Come back on sunday or before to post next weeks goals []

This one's been a favorite of late and I really need something soon here. Gl this week, all. LFG

For the past year and a half or so it's all been ignition. I've played loads of other random small sites off and on from the US here but its been a long time since stars or party for me.

I wasn't clear here or to myself whether some of my goals would be every weekday or also including the weekend. Need to clarify that for myself moving forward.

Meditate 10+ min per day []
Got every weekday but missed the weekend and this is a goal that I do want to happen every single day so I have to make the time. It's only 10 minutes!
The rest of the goals I was only intending to be weekday this time.

45 min exercise per day[X]
A good friend is a PT/gym owner and he's been pushing me to get some kettle bells and set me up with a nice workout that I did for the first few times this week. Basically a series of kettle bell swings and Turkish get-ups. My ass and legs are just getting over the soreness. Also got in some yoga for the first time in too long.

Study 1 hr per day []
Got in about an hr per weekday but didn't get to the self review. So procrastinating on looking at the terribleness of late.

1k hands per day starting tomorrow [X]

Come back on sunday or before to post next weeks goals []
Does 6am monday count?

Slightly positive for the short week after the post. Down for the week overall. Since the week was so short and I can't remember how to post a graph atm (did I mention I'm almost 40?) I'll wait till next week to start giraffing but I was + 1.2k post post.

This weeks goals

10 min meditation EVERY DAY (forever is the hope and plan) []

45 min workout every work/weekday []

45 min study every weekday []

8k hands for the week []

No hands played before 830 am unless I've meditated and studied or worked out for at least 20 min. []
I think that the "wake up super early and immediately dive into the tables while mainlining coffee" strategy has been pretty terrible for me and my game. Brain is just not ready yet. I'm leaning towards shifting more hands towards the evening too. The games I've always known were better then but it is just harder work out with the family.

I think that's it for now. Thanks again and gl this week, all!

Slightly positive week. Will post results when I get the converter going again here. Im happy to have a positive week albeit a small one and

10 min meditation EVERY DAY (forever is the hope and plan) [X]

45 min workout every work/weekday [X]
Nice mix of kettle bell workouts, run, and a couple yogas.

45 min study every weekday [X]
All RIO videos and I still really need to do some actual self analysis and study outside of just watching vids

8k hands for the week [X]
I think I got in 9.5k or so

No hands played before 830 am unless I've meditated and studied or worked out for at least 20 min. [X]
This was definitely good for my sanity.

Feeling very good about hitting all goals. Its gonna be a tricky week here with only two school days for the kids and family coming to town for thanksgiving so I'm gonna keep goals pretty minimal.

3 solid workouts []

5k hands []

2 hrs study []

10 min meditation per day []

Didn't do great with last weeks goals.

3 solid workouts [X]

5k hands [] 1200 or so short. Was planning on working some over the weekend but Ignition was down for a good part of it.

2 hrs study [X]

10 min meditation per day [] Fell off it around thanksgiving

This week needs to be good and grindy

9k hands []

30+ min workout or run each workday[]

2 hr study []

10 min med per day []

This week started out OK and after a couple of weeks with slow but steady wins I was started to think that maybe I could win at this game again until I was beaten down by another -10 BI day. This is how it has felt for months now. Grind it up, grind it up, feeling good... 1 day of completely crushing all previous progress. Rinse and repeat. I was really feeling soul crushed but I managed to get in nearly all of my goals

9k hands [X]

30+ min workout or run each workday[X]
Even got in an extra one on a non workday because I just felt I needed it.

2 hr study [X]

10 min med per day [] missed 1 day

Giraffe

So you can see that I'm a few hundred hands short of the 9k but I, in a last ditch effort to make this year not completely terrible, played a sunday MTT (150k gtd) for the first time in forever and this happened...

Just unbelievable. Was almost about to cry at the end of it after such a long DS/BE stretch. My emotions shifted pretty quickly when I realized that my recently destroyed phone had taken my BTC wallet's 2fa authentication along with it and my icloud backup was not gonna help. This was followed by me frantically searching the house for my backup phrase which is still no where to be found after our recent renovation. Anyway, I think it is being remedied. Just have to wait for 2fa deactivation.
I feel like I have a little bit of breathing room for the first time in a while but I am definitely not easing off the work regimen. It will be fairly minimal for the rest of the year though as we are heading to Oaxaca, Mexico for a couple of weeks coming up very soon and I've got quite a bit to get done before then.

It'll be the first trip away from home over Xmas for the kids and, while they are usually excited about the travels, they are not pleased to be "missing Christmas". Hopefully we can make it fun for them. Otherwise I'm stoked to be getting out there and I'll try to update some and keep somewhat of a grind schedule while there at least for a couple hrs most days.

Planning on coming back full bootcamp mode in January. Good luck and Happy Holidays Y'all!!!

Thanks man! Well, all you have to do is get super lucky like 20 times in a row and then have the dream setup at the final table where everyone else’s stack is the same=x and yours is 3x so you’re able to go all in 70% of hands while they try to outlast each other.

And were back(and I'm 40). Hope everyone had nice holidays. We had a good few weeks in Oaxaca Mexico. Tasty food, mezcal, worked on Spanish, saw sites, etc. Put in some work but not too much. Negative 4kish over the trip which is pretty consistent with my long run of suck minus that 24k bink before the trip.

I am ready to get back to poker boot camp here so starting with yearly goals

Post in this thread every week []

That's it really. I have several things that I'd like to accomplish this year like get super fit, crush the pokers, be an awesome dad, become a jedi knight, etc., but I will work towards those things through more short term goals that I will post here and adjust as needed. For this week...

Purchase and learn to use PIO solver []

5 years slow but better late than never? I just bought PIO pro but it looks like I may have to wait for up to 24 hrs before I get it. I really don't know how much time it will take me to get it set up and acquire any level of competence with it so I'm not going to make any hand requirements this week. If anyone wants to help a noob get started that would be quite welcomed. I will still work on health and fitness stuff which I've done nothing for for several weeks.

10 min meditation per day []

workout 5x this week []

Kettle bell routine, 45 min+ yoga, 2+ miles of running all acceptable. If I'm trying to get in a discgolf round then 1 mile plus round can count once.

10 hrs study []

Most of this will probably go towards trying to figure out pio.

Good luck this week and year. Vamos!

I didn't get in many hands, as expected, but ran well and got all of my goals for the week knocked out.

PIO has been pretty fun to mess with. It only took me 15 years to learn how to mark hands for review during a session. I'm running into some memory limitations that force me to limit the amount of betsizes more than I would like to but otherwise it's been pretty user friendly. I bought CRev years ago along with one or two other programs that I never ended up using. Not gonna let that happen with this one.

Purchase and learn to use PIO solver [X]

10 min meditation per day [X]

Kinda shifty to count this since yesterday I had forgotten until I got in bed and did a sleep meditation to make up for it but they aren't the same.

workout 5x this week [X]

2x kettle bell routine, 2 runs and 1 yoga

10 hrs study [X]

I didn't track this in any formal way but I should've easily hit this with all of the PIO stuff I messed around with.

Similar goals this week with a few tweaks. I've got the kids to myself all week and that changes things a bit but they are in school during the days so it shouldn't affect work stuff too much. Might affect my mental state a bit but I've been solo since last Thursday and so far so good. Possibly the most work damaging variable from having my wife away is that I am playing too much Fortnite. After about 15 years of being totally video game free(besides what I do for a living every day ) my son has sucked me back in. Gotta set some volume goal for this week and hopefully I won't have to set Fortnite limit goals because, well, that's embarrassing. Game is too fun though.

This weeks goals

6k hands []

7 hrs study []

5 workouts []

70 min meditation []

Post a hand []
