Been doing much better since last update. I've still been keeping up with yoga, med, weekly run, and regular studying but I can't let myself get out of the habit of posting my weekly goals or it all starts to slip gradually. Don't let me slack off please!

Plus $7k or so in winnings from other untracked site where I've mostly been back to HU NLHE.

Yeah, I had always planned on kinda doing either one depending on how I'm feeling or how the games are but I get in all or nothing mode pretty easily and I think that works for me when just starting to learn something. I was feeling super burnt out on it for a while but coming back to it has been fun and I feel like I'm seeing things with a fresh eye instead of autopiloting my way through. Thanks for the regular support, brother!

You always got the best of me.

I've got 3 kids and a "real job" now.
I understand what you are going thru with the life changes.
I wouldn't trade them for anything!
However they can be overwhelming at times.

I just wanted to let you know that I would be very careful playing midstakes PLO
on ignition. I was playing 2-4 to 5-10 on there and witnessed blatant collusion multiple
times. If you are only playing heads up then disregard this.

Hey, I remember battling and chatting on there! Were you playing for a living with kids for a while or switched to something more secure when they came along?

Yeah, collusion is definitely a concern on there. Did you happen to report what you witnessed? I know that they do take action at least some of the time because I have had money returned to me before but I don't know how hard that is to get them to take care of.






Had a great weekend of reunions with friends that I haven't seen in a long time. Too much partying for this old man, though. Need some rest and detoxification and I'm also heading to the beach for a week on saturday so this week needs to be bust ass mode, clean, and extra grindy.

without having dowloaded yesterdays hands and with my one site that I can't track I'm not sure if I made it. Probably not. Ended having a surprise childcareless day so I couldn't work much.

All in all feel like I worked very hard. Doing that much yoga with workouts on top and trying to wake early or get in late night sessions to get in all the hands was pretty exhausting. I kinda crashed on thursday and I'm not a nap person but I ended up taking two power naps in one day which I have never done. Anyway, feeling pretty good and somewhat deserving of a beach week and that is what I'm off to do. Waves are going to be pretty weak but I'll still leave with this

Back from the beach much more tanned and much less brain celled. Played a few hours from the beach and lost $3kish :/. But I had such a nice view while getting owned. I played the Ignition Sunday MTTs last night and made back a little over $1k. So far this morning HUNL going well (+$2k) but when it comes to PLO I'm feeling completely clueless (Lost $1k but that has nothing to do with my feelings of cluelessness). Gonna make this week a bit more study heavy. Mostly focusing on PLO but with some HUNL study as well, along with working on being a less terrible coach for the one student I took on .

[] 4hrs study

[] 1 hr of coaching work outside of session. Some of this may also just end up being studying for me but focused specifically on students goals/issues/questions.

[] 3 hrs yoga

[] 10 minutes meditation every day. Pissed at myself for getting out of this new habit every time I go away somewhere or get out of my regular schedule.

[] 1 run

[] 2 workouts

No hand requirements this week. I'm just gonna be playing as much as I can when I'm feeling up for it.

Back and slightly off the ropes. Apparently my graphs/pics are back too. Thanks photobucket. Had my usual "go on brief vacation, get out of habit of posting, stop posting for forever despite meaning to get back to it over and over and divert back into my slacker routine when poker is going well" thing happen.

A few updates

1. PLO is dumb

2. NLHE for life

3. Family is going to SE asia for a couple of months at the beginning of the year

Poker has been going well. The year as a whole is still pretty atrocious considering my large downswing at the beginning, the near meltdown that ensued, and then the three or so months following where I started and played only PLO netting a cool -$500. At EV for that time I was at $17.5k which I'd feel pretty decent about considering being a noob and playing smaller stakes but I just started feeling pretty helpless at the PLO tables after a while. I hope to come back to it at some point but I'm back to enjoying NLHE HU and 6max so I'm sticking with that for the time being.

I've not been great on exercise, study, or meditation lately and I'd like to remedy that. It's funny how something like 10 minutes of meditation a day, which I usually enjoyed doing, felt strongly was a good thing for me and the people around me, intended to keep up with daily, and as mention only takes 10 MINUTES, ends up not getting done by me. WTF? I guess it comes down to planning/time management, instant gratification and laziness. This thread really helps me with all of those things so I need to force myself to keep it going even when things are going well or when I feel bored with it.

I'm starting to have a minor problem putting in volume recently that I'm thinking is related to "fear of loss" issues. After having work go terribly for so long, now that things are going well, I think I'm unmotivated to play because it is so comfortable finally feeling out of that slump. Not really sure what to do about it but hopefully recognizing it counts for something

That said, I'm not going to put in volume goals at the moment. I'd rather focus on fitness and study. Emphasize quality over quantity and gradually start pushing the volume up especially if the fear of loss/ lack of motivation issue gets more serious.

I've meant to do this for a while. Been pretty into discgolf for years and have definitely plateaued of late and need to find a way to improve. Not relevant to poker other than improving at anything requires a lot of the same steps.

Just finished. Patiently awaiting advice and mockery.

Not a good week results wise but got in all the work and goals that I intended minus a tiny bit of yoga. Probably down $2k or so for the week. It's hard for me to track too well these days which is probably helpful for me. I probably won't be posting graphs often for related reasons but can give general $ updates for those following for the swings. Very very happy to say that I made around $55k during my couple of months of hiatus from the thread. Sad to say that even after that my YTD is probably below my states average teacher salary and we don't pay them teachers too good down here in the Cackalacky.

Way overextended myself with the goals this week forgetting that I was going with my daughter on a field trip with her school today, missing most of what is usually my most productive day (having childcare all day and the house to myself). Also wasn't taking into account that I'm taking my son camping this weekend with some old friends and their kids. With that in mind I'm going to pull 1 hr yoga and 1 workout so I don't try to just force it in and keep myself from getting decent volume in the little time that I have to work this week.

I'll keep everything else the same which means I'm going to have to sneak away while camping or tell my old high school friends to excuse me while I go get my daily 10 minutes of meditation on like a... I don't know what. I still remember all the preconceived notions I had of meditation before I started it and understand that I sound like a spaz.

I felt that my comment about my YTD earnings came off pretty douchey and "woah is me I've made less than a teacher this year" when I was just trying highlight that while I had a really good past couple of months, my total earnings this year are still less than that. Meaning I was negative for the YEAR up till then which is by far my longest, scariest downswing and B/E stretch I've ever had. Of course a few of those months were spent playing PLO which I had no experience with and chalk up to continuing education time. Anyway, I love teachers and yes they are grossly underpaid here . Enough ramble. Back to work. GL at the tables!

Good week life and pokerwise. +$6.5k-ish and had a great camping trip over the weekend. Ended up bringing my 4 yr old Daughter instead of my son who got sick at the last minute. Made parenting while camping require a bit more of my attention that it would have with her being the youngest of all the kids out there but it was awesome.
Didnt totally get there with the goals even after the adjustments.

Pretty good week considering I got sick about half way through and kind of gave up on hitting my goals. +$3.5-4k. Was on track to make goals before the bug but basically didnt get there on any of them other than the run and the Thai words. Just gonna give it another go at it for this week to try to redeem.

Good week/weekend with the family, took care of some of the many things around the house that need work, pushed myself a lot harder than I have been in my home yoga sessions instead of just going through the motions/clocking in like I sometimes do, harvested the last of my garden before our first freeze, took the kids to the big kid museum for several hours, cooked some yummy food on my new super high heat wok set up, won the weekly disc golf round with the best players that I play with (mostly due to them all playing poorly that day, but I'm gonna take it). Yes, things were pwned.



Not quite sure on all of this weeks goals yet but I will start with a few that I know I want to have.

Spoke too soon on the rungood. Week still ended up OK but it started out amazingly and then went steadilly downhill after last post. Ah well. Up $2.5k-ish.

Did pretty poorly with the weeks goals. Ughh really poorly now that I look at it. I had kept it minimal too

Did 0 yoga and and now my ****ed up hip, which is the reason I started messing with yoga, is back in full terrible force. It hasn't botthered me in a while.



This week is gonna be chaos with Thxgiving, a fam bday, kids out of school and us heading up to the mountains so I'm just going to try to grind as much as I can as long as its not weighing down family stuff and make SURE to get in

[] Come back full force monday with a serious grind regimen and plan for maintaining it till mid Dec.

After mid december I can't imagine I'll be grinding much at all with my Bday, Kids out of school, Xmas, packing and finishing up any last minute stuff before departing for SE Asia at the end of the year.
