Poker Vlogging: Its a thing Poker Vlogging: Its a thing

This thread is dedicated to poker vloggers from all over, sharing the sites, sounds, description of smells, hand history and analysis and bits of life of their little section of the poker world as a hard nosed grinder, a free spirit amateur, an experimental professional, or whatever slice they find themselves in. Posters are encouraged to post new vlog entries of their own or one they watched and enjoyed. Creators are welcomed to seek feedback on their creations, with the understanding this is the Internet and not your private fan site, so wear appropriate armor.

I will start with a few I pointed out in a different thread to get things going.

Note: While I would hesitate to say the OG himself, Trooper, is out of scope; his vlogs have their own thread in another sub-forum. So, perhaps the community would consider voluntarily leaving this thread for others?

Vlog #1, manual HH (semi-Flechette style) cash game no casino footage, but HH post

He has posted a pilot / intro plus two vlogs posted about 2 weeks apart. I didn't catch a casino name, but he did note being in San Diego.

Vlog #2 - Tournament, filming hole-card style from table, lots of folding, but HH as it comes along.

Vlog #3 This guy isn't new at vlogging, but I had never seen one before, this is his latest from earlier this week including a very interesting and big hand with hero holding AA, but perhaps not big in the way you usually think of it. 3-5 spread limit at Talking Stick.

Vlog #4 Canadian, 1-3, cash games, does HH with at least a different looking computer simulation.

Vlog #5 A new person for me, on vlog #20 -- a student crunching $0.50/$0.50 NLH game, 60bb cap. He won 33bb in the game. HH with graphics.

Vlog #6 films at the table, small MTT (27 players) mixed with skeet shooting and a few creative cinematography tricks.

Vlog #7 I feel like I've seen this guy somewhere, he took calls and laid out graphics discussing HH.

Just kidding on that last one -- just seeing if y'all were paying attention.

Vlog #8 Brand new vlogger this week

Vlog #9 A guy who is becoming my favorite, he's at Seneca Niagra this week

Vlog #10 The tail end of a 100k challenge out of Seattle

Thanks for reading - look forward to your take on things!

I believe JVF aka foongus11 is the originator of the manual hand histories:

Can we have zero tolerance to trolls in this thread? The LVL thread is good aside from negating through all the bs

I say we cross that bridge when we have to. No vlogger ITT elicits the type of emotions that Trooper elicits. At least, not yet.

Just posted episode 12, which completes my first series. 100k reached.

Thanks for all the support - I enjoy shooting/producing these things. Also, I'm fully aware that I suck at poker, but no one rocks a cloud time-lapse like me.

With the summer coming, there's going to be a bit more outdoor stuff mixed into the poker. This is the northwest, after all.

See you on the youtubes...

That would be super-special. Hopefully the community will embrace this idea. I would like to think this would be an ideal location for (especially newer) vloggers to come and solicit input and ideas. Unlike the actual game of poker, vlogging is not a Zero Sum Game so there is no advantage to trolling.

Howdy. Okay so first, for at least this thread, we are expecting lots of black boxes that eventually load into click-able in-line video. For that instead of using URL marker, use the YouTube marker. Hint: All you need is the strange string of letters after "youtu.be/" Regarding your content - I think this was a solid first effort. Main critique - check your video editor for sound controls (I admit I had posted like 5 videos to YT before I found the audio controls in my editor). Your sound levels are all over the place which is distracting. Some viewers will simply skip to the next video instead of turning the volume up and down between scenes. Shot framing - in general good, but there was a shot where you brought your knee up at the end of a segment and it really threw off the framing and perspective. Just because it was so close to the camera, it looked crazy big. You will correct things like this with practice -- or create artistic effects. HH content - The split screen is ok and gets the job done. If you are going for higher quality you'll need to figure out overlays. I admit, I'm still trying to figure that out for my editor. Thankfully my content is editing highlight clips for a call-in show so its not a pressing need but I would like to figure it out. If HH is going to be a thrust, it would be worth the effort to investigate. If not fancy graphics then a chroma-keyed backdrop with actual cards over-layed from b-roll like Flechette or JVF. Your story telling and vocals are good. Looking forward to the next one.

Congratulations on reaching your goal, Tommy! Thanks for sharing the last bit of the journey with interested viewers! I'm looking forward to more donkey heads in the future!

Let me just really quickly give a general plug for Wayne Chiang, a regular at the Bicycle Casino in LA ...
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFI...OGcire_-ECWYrw
This is just a link to his channel. Recently he has been stepping up his game. He is not a vlogger that pulls together HA, a bit of his life, and bit of LA though. He uploads raw hands shot from the table. Big O, PLO, 2-7TD, Badugi, LHE, etc. He also has been streaming a few minutes per day on Periscope from the famous Table 27 at Commerce. So if you enjoy just raw, uncut table POV shots, Wayne is the man. He also has a collection of Poker Comedy that might only be rivaled by Peter Manzaneli.

And don't put up the entire street of action in text before you have explained the action. It's a bit of a spoiler. I read your text then had to listen to you explain the actions I just read.

Hey all, came across this thread - great idea. Good luck to all the vloggers out there. Some really cool vlogs in the thread.

Recently I've been experimenting with a vlog of my own. I'd call my self an experimental professional poker player (once upon a time, I was a suit!). Heading to Vegas for the WSOP (a dream of mine, coming true for the second time) and thought it would be fun to document the journey this time around.

Here's vlog#3 if you'd like to check it out.

Any and all feedback welcome.

And yes, I know I'm a fool. But you know, life's too mysterious to take serious.

Thank you for the advice. I'm sure I will improve as I go all new to this. Never done any video editing or anything if this nature so it was definitely a challenge.

More of that humor! "The camera weighs 30 lbs" Awesome! Good luck with the weight loss challenge. Seems like you have real discipline and a nice shot of hitting the goal! Unfortunately might not see the crazy colored beard because of this.

I think I brought up this guy in the other thread, but this guy is a Pokerstars tournament stop grinder from Slovakia. I like his sense of humor and he has pretty high quality videography skills.

In his most recent, he changes pace and takes in a 1-2 cash game. Enjoy!

Speaking of international vloggers -- a new vlogger with his first attempt, this time from sunny Queensland out in Oz.

Great idea on the thread OP. Good to see a bunch of us giving vlogs a shot.

Ive got some unique challenges for vlogging in Australia, as using any kind of device for any reason at the tables is more or less prohibited. The trick for me will be to work out how to keep the content interesting despite not having table footage to work with.

Talking at a camera is also quite a strange experience when you're not used to it...

Anyway please check out my second episode which I just dropped this morning, let me know what you think!

Hard to argue with that

Where are you camped on the snow, Ranier?

Time to change the name of the vlog to "$110,000 vlog" ?

Good stuff, keep em comin

The first shot is of Mt. Baker, and the second of Rainier (the lights are climbers on the Emmons glacier and camp Muir heading for the summit) and the third shot is of Mt. St. Helens from the climbers bivouac.

This'll morph into a climb/hike/NW outdoors vlog with a ton of poker thrown in. The next 10k will be the 2nd season, I think. The next episode should drop tomorrow.

100k in poker is like climbing Rainier - you need a long-term plan, there will be setbacks, but in the end, it's just one step at a time. Eventually, you just reach the summit.

We're finally getting some nicer weather up here, and I should have some more sweet mountain shots going into the summer. And, of course, poker.
