Alright guys little update on Thailand and Poker Adventures.

Fired up the blog again start of this month with plan to post updates throughout the month.

Guess we talk poker first. Volume has been okay at nearly 30k hands. Downswing for pretty much most the month and definitely made some errors.

Below are results so far --

On track for rake back challenge this month though. Plan is to smash it Monday to Thursday to get ahead but think it works out about 80k hands which will be nice added bonus.

Away from poker, I tried to cut down some living costs because was just getting stupid. Between rent and bike rent alone was paying like £500 so managed to near half that.

Was also dusting on meals out because it just starts to become the norm. But there's some really cool Thai places you can eat for less than £2 a meal. Just got to get better dealing with the spice

Also Thai visa sorted and career break extension sorted too. So have option of another two years if I want it. Haven't been able to travel at all really with COVID and Thailand is pretty safe at moment so that went on no problem.

Still drank to much, partied too much, stole too many hats and also tried to become a DJ when drunk so far this month. Plus probably have the best photo bomb of all time to show you guys.

One of our pals we met in Samui also came down for his last show at one of the clubs here. It was honestly insane gig. Pretty mad how me and Rich were just eating at table next to these lads in Samui and we hear them describe something as 'polarizing'.

Instantly we're like these boys must be poker players - turns out couple of them play and one of the lads is a DJ.

Was sick time though and we heading up to Bangkok Friday for the weekend to have couple of nights out with them so that should be cool.

Gonna try get ahead of schedule over next few days, min amount of hands is 70k I have set for this month and will need at least that for challenge anyway.

Hopefully play a lot better than I did in the first week or so in the month and continue the one big session

Just seen this thread for the first time today... Kinda feel it given me motivation to grind myself I really need to make a good go at because the lifestyle you live looks absolutely unreal! And how fast you have progressed from 25nl to towards 500nl is brilliant! Keep up the good work Steve! Poker Player or Police Detective..?

October Update

Few weeks since we posted an update and here's end of month update on poker side.

Managed to easily hit our target for the month of 70k hands min and manager just under 90k. Think I can push this to at least 120k+ but depending how month goes I may look to move up to 500nl pond again.

Tbh the games have been pretty terrible of late. Lots of 1knl and 500nl regs have been around in the 200nl pools and there is definitely parts of the day in my time zone where its pointless playing...but RB challenges be RB challenges.

We managed to complete it so was nice $3200 which works out 40% RB.

In terms on October, games weren't great, didn't play to great in some big pots so tried to fix a few things half way through the month.

Anyway results...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Outside of poker, I'm trying to get back into routine of gym after not going for like 3-4 weeks. Ironically I am lightest I've been in years at 95.8kg which is pretty sick considering I was around 120kg this time last year.

Thailand is pretty normal too at moment. Couldn't imagine been in the UK at moment with them about to go back into another lockdown. We are lucky enough to be able to live a relatively normal life and we went all out for Halloween.

We had pretty funny idea when drunk one night to dress up as food delivery drivers and taxi bike drivers. They both are pretty massive in Thailand and taxi bike's are used by everyone to get around. Me and Rich went hunting for a make up salon to do our make up for the night and its first Halloween I have ever gone all out really. It was absolute hilarious night although the food delivery guys nearly didn't make it after they decided to go on a 12 hour piss up the night before.

Also had an absolute sick time in BKK. Again we stupidly decided to go out on the Thursday before BKK. I can safely say I have never seen Ginge so drunk in my entire life. He was man on an absolute mission. We have a friend in one of the go go's too that he usually buys drinks, gets her smashed and then we leave. She can bang 10 tequila's in 19 SECONDS!!!

It is insane. Sooo... we come up with a game of go-go tequila racing. Two girls race each other... the winner gets a drink for her friend! Rich picked the bird who polishes then in 19 seconds and my lass had no chance.

Anyway onto BKK absolute hanging. It's my first time properly there and could honestly see myself living there.. only put off is traffic and costs. Loads to do there and Pattaya I can see becoming meh long term. Had few sick nights out with the lads.. got through to many bottles and went to some sick clubs. I got incredibly drunk on night one and ripped my jeans (see evidence below) whilst dancing. Managed to keep it hidden for the whole night but every time I went to the toilet it was like confessional and I would tell the lady who works in there!

November Plans

Anyway onto November...

-I have target of minimum 75k hands but I want to try and get towards 100k+ with hopefully some 500nl in there as well. We have another 40% RB $3200 challenge which can apparently do more than once. Would be tough.. like 170k hands at 200z but never say never.

- Back into a gym routine and live generally healthier. I have stopped drinking fizzy pop with meals and generally so hoping that helps with trying to shed more weight

-I have a spreadsheet where I am gonna track meditation, sleep, water intake and poker volume. I am gonna try fill it in everyday and see how I feel if I add a bit more routine. Not really sure how meditation will go. I like it generally but I have never specifically set time out of each day to do it so it'll be interesting to see how that goes.

GLGL us and will post update in 10-14 days

November Results

So November is in the books and we onto the dream month of December. Usually really good games and I have never really grinded a December so I really excited to take look at them.

First... how was November? Well poker wise it was in line to be my worst poker month results wise at 200z. I started off on fire and won 10 buy in's early but for the rest of the month I swung back like 30 buy ins and then broke even for a lot of the month.

There was undoubtedly some mistakes within there and a mental block. I have always had this mental block which I am slowly getting out of it and its about trying to change the way I look at certain things. The good thing is I am aware of it and the next stage is dealing with it.

The only way I can describe it is when things are going slow within poker, I then have the overwhelming feeling to want to win. This is absolutely terrible habit! You just end up forcing things and as with anything you can always justify playing a hand in a certain way.

So how do I fix it?

I had a probably my best hour of coaching I have ever had with a Performance Coach. Something which I have never done before and by god I am glad I have opened my mind up to that. He was really really cool.

His name is Josh Stainer and he streams a little poker himself on twitch. Link below and defo check him out. Pretty fun stream and he talks about suited one gapper therapy which is something I love hahah

https://www.twitch.tv/joshuajdstanier

There is something really unique about speaking to someone who does not know you personally at all and you just been able to talk about what you think your own mental blocks are.

We went through a bunch of stuff in the hour and came up with some things to help manage the negative emotions going forward should they arise.

One of the two main things that came out of it was Self Appreciation and Professionalism.

So firstly learn to appreciate yourself and the journey your on. Its easy in poker to judge everything by a monetary value and how your graph looks each month. This is really short sighted. Its easy to forget where you have come from and only think in the moment. It's also easy to intensify the lows way more than the highs and this leads nicely onto Professionalism.

What would a Professional do and how would they deal with those emotions to make sure they constantly play their A game?

Theres things that I have put together now since the meeting and I feel really positive about things going forward. I am super excited.

So poker results --

We ended up winning at like 1.8bb/ev100 plus the $3200 rakeback challenge. So the month was decent and was $5k+ month.

This was definitely helped by my biggest winning day so far at 200z which was insane...

In terms of outside poker there hasn't been too much drinking this month. Been way more chilled with the boys generally trying to behave themselves a little more. Sadly no Thailand stories this month but we are coming into the festive season so there will hopefully be some stories for next month.

There was a cool firework festival here which is usually international but only Thai because of COVID. That been said it was insane!!

December aims are to carry on with healthier lifestyle. I do have some cool progress pictures from the last 3-4 months but not quite ready to share them yet. Maybe end of the year will be cool time to do that.

Another month of poker to. Double points through the Happy Hours too so we might be able to get our RB challenge done twice which would be $6400 before results so could be big month.

Good Luck to us!!

I've just discovered your journey and I'm loving the content. It really pushes me to keep on the grind myself to hopefully be crushing the 200nl zoom pools. I'll keep checking this thread for more updates. Keep up the grind!

Haven't got around to updating this for various reasons over the new year. Mix of been away from laptop and then in full on grind mode because of rakeback challenge.

I will post full update at end of this month which will incorporate last months stuff too and let you guys know what I have been up too

So apparently its 2021... Happy new year!!

Been a while since I have posted an update for various reasons. Grinded loads over last 2 months but been keeping like a personal journey along with some mental game stuff quite heavily so just didn't get around to updating this. The it come to middle of January and I was like well guess I just do it next month.

So guess we talk poker and results first... To be fair results have been pretty swingy but I have shot took 500z for around 40-45k been a small winner. I mean I take great pride in this as like 3 months earlier I got my ass handed to me over a 25k hands sample. I am pretty confident I will be at least breakeven at that stake now which I am pretty proud of.

200z on flip side has been somewhat meh! Didn't play to great for large portions of the grind. A lot of this was defo down to me not managing my time good enough which ended up me needing to grind like 40k hands in 5-6 days which was not fun.

What is pretty cool is that when I have a bad month at 200z ev/bb its breakeven/small winner.

So yeah results below plus like $7k in RB. Nice little treat from stars when have some run bad months.

500nl shot

Total since last update

Everything post like 100k hand mark was mix of 500/200

So yeah thats online poker... outside of poker has been pretty cool.

Couple of us went on 6 hour bike ride up the coast which was sometimes **** scary but mega fun. Driving 6 hours on a little 150cc scooter was intense!

After the drive we got a 20 min boat over to Koh Chang which was really sick. Some insane sunsets and the roads were amazing.

Christmas was also a weird one. First one away from the family and to be honest probably wouldn't do it again because I really enjoy the day time with my family. Especially with my niece and nephew still been young.

That been said... the night time was sick! We had such a quality night out!

New year was then pretty chill. Went round Rich's (GingePoker) and just had more of a chilled one as stuff went into a half lockdown.

That meant gyms closing and although it was nothing like the UK it made me appreciate how bad it must be in the UK for a lot of people right now.

So plans going forward is are gonna be pretty chill online unfortunately over the next 3 months. When I say chill.. zero volume! Opportunity to go and play live poker come up so I will be focusing on that only.

I have around about a week off before the live grind starts and I am super excited. The aim was always to spend 3 months grinding online getting better at online poker to then go and play live games. Its been a long time coming but opportunity is here.. its gonna be great fun to not play in a pool surrounded by absolute ****ing wizards!

I've not decided how much updating on the blog I will do but I will definitely do some updates on my insta which is...

stevemozzaa

So yeah I will try at very least post monthly updates because I wanna try keep it constant.. but who knows it might become even more of a thing.

So finally aims for next month/few months -

- Grind average 10hrs a day live pokies
- Stay healthy and get back on the gym grind
- More routine and keep on top of students I work with. Defo have slacked on this because had to grind so much myself for rakeback grinds
- Carry on working on my own life leaks. By this I mean mainly mental stuff. Had a session a week for 5 weeks now with performance coach and its honestly worth more than any poker coaching I have had. It is completely invaluable and often slept on by professional poker players.

Think thats all for now... I might of waffled a little bit in this update because was trying to cram last 2 months into one update.

Hope you enjoy the read and fire any thoughts and I will get back to you guys

So plan wasn’t to update much when playing live but it’s less intense and it’s probably more fun so why not!

Flights were pretty cool to be fair. It was super surreal with the airport been so quiet and our first flight to Tokyo there was more staff on our flight than people!

2nd flight was super chill as well and got some good sleep. Then the nightmare began Poker Player or Police Detective..?

For whatever reason customs decided that me and my mate coming into the country for 3 months was little strange. I can kind of understand it but once we shown them reservations and funds etc I thought would be all fine... but nope!

Two hours we faced questions like ‘Why do you want to rent that make and model of car and not another?’

Only for him to ask his ‘supervisor’ who said.. well you can’t do anything about them coming in. They aren’t doing anything wrong.

Can’t help but think was just because we connected in San Fran and it’s not a big connecting hub.

Anyway we missed our connecting flight so spent half the day in San Fran. Compared to Thailand it was absolutely freezing! Would like to go back to San Fran though and see what its like.

Anyway touchdown Vegas and eventually got playing some poker. Games flicker between long dry periods and then say an hour of really good.

Mainly gonna play some $5/10 for first week or so and then look to get involved in $10/20 as trip goes on.

I have one aim for the trip and that’s simply look to grind 1000 hours!

Should be fun trying that!

Let me know what you guys want to see me post about over next few months

Guess sign off this post the lovely view of Paris Paris Poker Player or Police Detective..?

Hahah! Won’t be so many stories as just grinding and going gym literally everyday!

We’re one week into the trip and games are okay. Sometimes hit and miss and little bit slow.

Day one was the most amazing game for like a one hour period but it died very quickly. Not sure what the best format is for live HHs but here goes

I saw this hand and was like wow this is gonna be amazing but in truth the games are just average if I am honest. Capped capacity’s really hurt as it’s only regs that will wait an hour to get into the games.

To give you guys a feel for what it is like to play live.. you’re basically in a box for 8-12 hours a day with a mask on. So it’s not as fun as live poker once was which is maybe why recreational players may not be as frequent as don’t get the same enjoyment out of it.

Clubs are apparently opening in Vegas though in March so that could be nice to have a day off here and there! Absolutely loved the night swims that use to go on at the Wynn! Such a cool vibe!

Covid is very much a thing here still though so not sure how enjoyable they will be. It’s not like Thailand where you put a mask on to enter a bar then take it off for the rest of the night Poker Player or Police Detective..?Poker Player or Police Detective..?
