The Poker Gap Year
Hello everybody, this is my first poker blog on 2+2 and I am really excited to get started. My main focus will be Spin & Goes.
About me My name is
Tadeas, I am a 19-year old guy from the Czech Republic. I have always been intrigued by games. My first game that I picked up was chess. When I was about 6 years old I joined my school chess club and I've been in love with the game ever since. I still play but only sporadically. At the age of 11 I got into video games and my all-time favorite was Track Mania. I played a lot and I was pretty good peaking at 1500th place worldwide. My parents were never really supportive of me playing video games so I played for about an hour a day. I also fell in love with WoW and I played on various free servers as well as on the official server. As I was getting older I was looking for a new challenge and I discovered poker for the first time but I was only 16 so I deposited through my dad and I started playing just for fun. Soon after I had to leave for my year abroad as a foreign exchange student in the US so I couldn't play anymore. When I got back I changed a lot and I have forgotten about poker and all my friends started playing this really cool game called League of Legends. I immediately started playing and reached gold III in about a year a half
. I wanted to be really good at LoL but it didn't work out + I got into a love/hate relationship with this game
. All my life I wanted to do something extraordinary and I really hope of achieving greatness in poker.
I am a beginner poker player that started taking poker more seriously about 5 months ago. Like almost everybody I started playing on Stars. I tried 888 and party as well but the traffic was really low. I went from FR CG to 6-max pretty quickly because I wanted more action and then I discovered Spin & Goes and I was hooked. I immediately started researching about this exciting format and I found this great video pack. The one problem was that it was very expensive so I got a job as a dealer in a local casino to save money for the video pack and my trip to Thailand. I didn't play much poker during that month and a half because I was working and going to school at the same time so my time was limited.
Thailand/Cambodia Trip I spent about month and a half in SEA and I absolutely loved it. I finally understand why poker pros go crazy about moving there, it truly is worth it and I hope to make the move myself next year either as pro or an English teacher(I got TEFL). I was suppose to go with my friend who lives on the same street with whom I went to India last year but he cancelled last minute so I was going alone. Luckily for me I met this really cool guy named Alex at the airport who was wearing a Pokerstars shirt so we talked for a bit, exchanged Facebook and went on our way. I was going to travel Thailand and Cambodia and his plan was to "enjoy" Pattaya
. He got sick of that place fairly quickly so we met about 5 days after that in Chiang Mai and we travelled together the whole time. We did northern and central Thailand, Siem Reap, PP and settled for about 10 days in this magical place called Sihanoukville. Where we met and partied with the coolest broke bros on the planet. You probably guessed that I am talking about Yazzx and Izit who totally lived up to the hype and showed us one of the best time of our lives. After 10 days of constant poker and partying we had to say goodbye because Alex was leaving for Europe and my plan was to teach English in Thailand for the remaining 10 days of my trip. I found a volunteer job online pretty easily and I got to teach kindergarten in a small village near Chaiyaphum. The kids were really friendly and tried hard to learn the basics and it has always been my dream to teach abroad. I got a girlfriend while I was there so that made things even more pleasant. The last two days I spent gift shopping in Bangkok because I was too “busy” to do it before. Overall the trip was amazing and I am especially glad I got to meet awesome people from the poker world.
