Hi guys,
I have made many challenge threads before and I have always left them very quickly. I have a tendency to start poker, aim high, make some small profit, play bad, tilt and then withdrawaland quit poker for 6-12 month (or in some cases just stop posting in my threads after a bad run). I think I have done this at least 5-6 times and I always take the same approach to poker when I come back. This time will be different! I have realized that the reason I tilt is much because I have so high expectation of myself and of what I will achieve that when it doesn’t go my way I get so frustrated, angry and disappointed that it leads me to tilt.

Therefore this will be a thread were I don’t track results AT ALL. There will be no graphs, no results and no mention of my Bankroll at all. I will post and talk about poker, talk about my daily activities and how it is going pokerwise, post hands and maybe some goals about hours played or something like that. This will be a thread on IMPROVING IN POKER and PUTTING IN THE WORK, nothing else. I guess more lika a diary. With this I hope that I can get a different mindset and enjoy the game more and I think the results will eventually follow.

As you can se in the Topic I have an overall goal tho, I will make my way to plo100 zoom and play 100k with a winrate of 5bb/100 EV before 10 Juni 2018. This is a big goal but i really think, with hard work, that I am able to make it. The reason my deadline for this goal is 10 Juni 2018 is that this is the date were I will be done with my university studies. To be able to be at that level when I quit school would give me the opportunity to play poker for a living for 1-2 years before moving on with other career goals.

I will use the BRM below (for now at least) and I will never look at my actual bankroll. I will ask a friend and/or family member to check at what stage I am so I know what limit to play the following days or week. Striving to ask them at least once per week but not every day since the whole point of this is to focus all my energy on improving and enjoying the game. I will start this thread somewhere in Stage 1.

Stage 1. Plo10 zoom, 0-775$
Stage 2. Plo25 zoom, 776-2000$
Stage 3. Plo50 zoom, 2001-4000$
Stage 4. Plo100 zoom, 4001$ ->

Before I start this thread I need to confront myself with WHY I am doing this. So here is my WHY:
To live of poker have been my goal for around 8 years. I don’t remember but I’m pretty sure I had an pokerstars account on the day I turned 18. Poker is something that I for the majority of the time really love. To be able to really do what you love and getting paid would be a dream come true. My dream is to be able to play poker while studying and in the future while working and getting extra income from this.

• I want to do this because I would love to make my extra income from poker instead of the other jobs I had during my study time. If I achieve this I won’t need to take on as much loans and I would be able to save more money for the future without going back to my old jobs.
• I want to do this because I would love to have the opportunity to take 1-2 years after University before going on with my job career and just live off poker. Travel, really go deep into the game, love what I do and save money for the future.
• I want to do this because I would love a ”hobby” during my job career that will get me an extra income, playing 1-2 hours pre-work, doing it because I love it and get some extra money from it.

There are ofc some other non material reasons on why I want to do this:

• The game itself offers so much! It makes me really work with my whole intellect and while ”in the zone” it feels like I am the king of the world, improving, getting aha moments and just enjoying myself. All in all, I really love the game of poker.
• I would love to be better so I can start giving back to the poker community more and more as I become better and better.
• Poker is one of the few things in my life that make it easy to go up from bed with or without an alarm clock, this has to mean something, right?
• I want to show to myself that hard work and dedication really pays of.
• I want to show ppl around me, that always doubted this, that it really is possible.
• It is just this one thing in my life that will always haunt me if I don’t make it. I am 100% sure that I will regret not giving it my all, I am 100% sure that I will become a grumpy, bitter, old man with a lot of ”I should have” thoughts.
• I want to be a person that always follow his dreams, a role model that can stand tall and be proud to say that I at least always give it my all to achieve my goals.

Had a couple of smallish sessions yesterday and today. Felt good to play again after 2.5 weeks off. I think I played focused and well. Lost a lot of rivers when tried to bluffcatch but I think my though process was right and that I made the right decision in most of the hands. Here are a couple, feel free to comment on them!




Hand 1. I think he got more draws that missed than draws that hit. Also I can't see any other valuehands that valuebet. The only reason I think I can find a fold here is his bet sizing, I think it looks value-betty.

Totally agree that betting Turn in h3 would be better

Been really ill for the last couple of days so have not been able to play much. Did a smallish session today but kept it short because I still don't feel good and did not play well/focused at all. Really motivated tho so hope to get better quick and back to the grind!

Played a couple of hours today followed by a good review session. Poker is so much more fun when I don't need to "worry" about the results

Bought 1 month of pokerjuice today and played around with it a little. Got really surprised that you can't use it for 3-way all-ins since I think it's a really common spot and really important. Will try to use the program a lot the next couple of days and se if it's worth it to keep subscribing to it.

Also my University studies started for the term this week so will try to play a lot during the mornings and the evenings and do my school studies during the middle of the day.

Have been playing some the last days. Not much but it's getting better and better. I made a small goal this sunday: 10k hands from sunday-sunday (8days).

After today (3days in) Im at 3081 hands (31%) and pace is 37.5%.

It's just a small goal and hopefully I will achieve it pretty easy and move on and increase the volume next time! Also I have 2 tabled the last 50k hands zoom but I bought a new computer screen that is arriving tomorrow (only have laptop atm) so I think I gonna play 3 tables from here on. So will be even easier to achieve the goal!

Also, will try to post some bluff catching hands in here tomorrow since Im working on my river calling efficacy.

What do you think about my check back? I felt that the only scare cards were 9 and J (7cards). When he bets flop I think its a standard call right? or shove vs hearts? And River I jsut autocalled but its a really strange size to bluff with when I repp AA. Can I play this hand any different?
