Right I meant what was the %? But I see you posted 12% below. Was just double checking it wasn't like 25% and you were thinking that was bad.

Gotcha. The tutorial videos in PT4 explain all the different stats and there was a little info on the efficiency percentages. Something for me to work on.

Well this afternoon was a bit of a bust. I leave for work in an hour and was unable to log a session. I started having some medical tests run because I've had some issues for the last year or so on my digestive system. The Dr. gave me a kit to take home to collect a poo sample. This morning was the first chance I've had to get what they needed at a time where the lab was open. Man was that gross. Since I had that to deal with in the AM I got to bed late and then had to wake up and wait for a siding contractor that surprise surprise never showed. I didn't want to fire up a session and be semi distracted while playing anticipating company.

All good though. I should definitely have time to fit a session in tomorrow before work. Oh in other news my sis-in-law found out today they're having a boy! Little nephew on the way, can't wait.

Got to grind out a session before tables broke this morning. Sometimes it's not your day. Today was not my day. Shake it off, shake it off. On the bright side I'm off tomorrow and should be able to grind out a long one in the evening.

Very first hand of the session. Not sure about the turn. Maybe I should be check calling versus the line I took. Wrap with a flush draw though, can't be in that bad of shape.

I'm not sure about this one. I 5bet to ISO the shorter stack who is a complete fish. BB calls it off with AKK5 ds which given the action should have been a fold on his part I do believe. My image isn't that crazy but I don't really expect guys to be paying that much attention.

From the filter I ran on my river calls I won 12% for a total loss of like 3 or 4 buyins over about 5k hands. 5k was the total hands I had to sample from not the total that were river calls. I assume numbers can be skewed too because the majority of the called hands were for small amounts where post flop action was minimal. But I had about 6 hands within the sample where big river bets were placed and given the action post flop my calls were pretty bad given the price and how often I needed to be correct.
It shows the return for every chip you invest as a river call. 1 is breaking even and that would be the number if a perfect bot played vs another perfect bot. In reality there are spots where our opponent has no bluffs at all and we can fold every single bluffcatcher and be very far off minimum defence frequency, therefore we want that number to be higher, like 1.2-1.3. If your number is below 1, than you'd be making more money if folded vs every single river bet.

I think I've misconstrued the data from the filter I ran or didn't run what I thought I was. I'll have to look at it again. Without filtering data the advanced stats "By Stake" chart already has "Call R Eff" column. I'm at 1.55 for all hands played.

Hand 1- no reason to jam turn. We have no SD value or fold equity now and can save the rest if we miss river. Bet more on flop btw and more OTT (or check)

Hand 3 - zero reason to iso jam this pre; folding would be better. QJT9ds would be significantly better to cold call too.

I wondered about hand 1 and the turn action. So it would be correct to call given our equity and fold unimproved on the river. This is probably a mistake I'm making frequently too. It's an odd adjustment coming from NLHE but it makes sense.

Hand 3 I knew right away I goofed and having a lower rundown would be better considering I'm sharing outs or cards with their ranges. Do you think when the shortstack shoves I should be folding a hand like a Q hi DS rundown since the action would be left open to the other deeper stack who could then shove? Or at that point would we be committed with the amount of money in the pot versus what we have behind?

Pretty exciting day in my PLO journey. I signed up for the PLO Mastermind course at JNandez Poker. Managed to get my account setup and browse through what they have to offer. I started going through the initial introductory course which has close to a dozen videos.

There's so much information it's almost an information overload if not approached in an organized fashion. I watched the first two intro videos that cover preflop hand selection and cbetting strategies/mistakes. I took about three pages of notes and reviewed them after the two videos. What I'm going to do is focus on these two areas before moving on to anything else.

Currently on the waiting list for the one game running right now which is fine. I'm going to limit tables so I can focus on the information that I covered. We'll see how it goes.

No games were running yesterday when I had time in the afternoon to play between getting up and going to work. I spent that free time on study and watching a few videos on my training site. Today I was able to log about an hour of play before shutting it off as I was getting rather frustrated and needed to break before tilt set in. Which is odd because at this point I don't really tilt, but I felt it coming.

My biggest issue right now is I have only a few weeks of grinding at PLO and I'm so lost on what to expect. I know swings can be big and I'm okay with that but the uncertainty of knowing if I'm doing things correctly or not is a bit tough. It doesn't help that I've had virtually zero success. Maybe 1/3 of my sessions I've ended up, one third has been about a buy-in down and the rest is just running 4-5 buy-ins below ev. It's hard to make sense of the data especially with such little experience. I'm done playing for the day and will have to look at it with a fresh set of eyes tomorrow.

Monthly subscription is $99 USD. The content I've reviewed so far has been pretty decent and the team that works with Fernando seems pretty active. They've clearly put a ton of time into content and there are a lot of tools available. It's going to be one of those things where what one gets out of it depends on the effort you put in. I would say the price per month is fairly reasonable for what you get in return.

Thought I would throw out an update, mostly for myself. As previously mentioned I signed up for the monthly subscription on JNandez Poker so most of my time away from the tables relating to PLO has been spent over there on study. As for hours logged it has been a bit hit or miss. Two things working against me right now are the games I frequent haven't been running a lot during the 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM window I have to play around sleep and my work schedule. That I have no control over. The other challenge right now is two guys at work were fired and their shift is the exact opposite of the one I work so for the foreseeable future I'm working nearly every day for the next two months. That means when I am off I have other responsibilities that take priority over poker. Tonight is one of those nights off and I'll be going to a baseball game with my wife and sister-in-law. The weather is beautiful out and I'm really looking forward to it.

I do however expect to get a session logged later tonight after the game. After tonight I have Monday off and after that I'm working about two weeks straight.

As I alluded to at the end of last month a couple of guys were let go and I knew I would be working a ton. That's been that case. In the last 5 weeks I've had about 6 days off working 12 hour night shifts. It's been a pain in the butt. As yet another unforeseen obstacle I found two sections of cedar siding on my new house that had damage. Turns out there was a decent bit of water damage on one side and carpenter ant damage on the other. I had a contractor working on it all last week which really hurt my sleep schedule on three of those six days off. Hard to rest with a guy pounding away at the outside of your house. But it's done now so I can put that behind me.

As for PLO, tonight I had off and I logged two hour long sessions four tabling $10 PLO grinding out a tiny bit of volume. Here's the giraffe for this session:

Been able to log a few short sessions before work yesterday and today for a modest victory of 6.64bb/100. Had some decent spots yesterday that didn't go in my favor. I had one of my tables get down to HU for a few hands and lost a few buyins. One was 2nd nut flush vs 3rd nut flush. Don't really have any HU experience so I'm not sure if I played it right or not. No worries...we're up.

Hand vs LAG with a fairly wide opening range. 45% on the flop, I can live with it.

I have the entire weekend off so I'll have some time to play. Most likely I'm going to treat myself to a few NLHE MTT's as well. Still digging those when I have time.

Friday night mine field session complete. Played four tables for a bit more than two hours and snagged 47 BB/100. The main adjustment I made tonight was to tighten up my preflop ranges because every table had a few people playing 75-85% of hands. Normal Friday night stuff. Not going to post a slew of hands because most of them are fairly straight forward...except this gem where I got it in really really poorly against a terrible recreational player. It's just bad bad bad but sometimes you get lucky.

Brutal day today. Dropped about 8 buy-ins over 2 sessions of roughly 1k hands. Ran about half of that under ev. Big pots were either chopped or lost. I had quite a few hands as 70-80% favorites when the money went in that didn't go my way.

I really don't know how to play aces on the flop. So many times you pot it pre after limpers and get at least two calls. Either the board texture is poor and you're not putting more money in or have an overpair and flush draw and run into a set or something else with decent equity. I need to review a lot of these spots.

Whatever, bankroll is plenty healthy. I almost never have decent sessions on the weekend it seems regardless of the adjustments I make playing against a table full or recs.

Okay so I filtered out all AAxx hands at $10 PLO and it turns out I'm winning 235bb/100 with all combos. I'm not sure if that's decent or not.

However last night I lost three buy-ins during the last hour and a few of them were pretty close together which probably led me to my earlier comment about confusion with how to play there hands. Here are three of those hands.

Villain is 79/43 pre over 74 hands. Not sure if this is a spew or not. Versus this player I just went with it holding an 8 blocker.

Not a lot of table time so far this week. Kid started back up at school today and I'm on a stretch at work. After tonight I have the next 4 nights off though. As a nice little kicker I just received an email notifying me that my rakeback with ACR is now active. Not too shabby.

Had a pretty interesting session today. Ran a few buyins below ev and I was a net loser but I feel like I played one of the better session of PLO to date. There are a few areas that I've needed to improve upon namely I cbet too low and overfold on the flop. I've basically over adjusted with some of the things I learned during the month I had my training site subscription. I didn't renew it because I knew I wouldn't be able to play a lot at the time it was up for renewal. Anyways I loosened up in spots where I hadn't been betting or folding a bit too tight and I managed to pick up a lot more pots post flop attacking what seemed like weakness from my opponents. Something to keep building on. Here's today's graph though.

August is in the books.

10PLO Graph

Had a good month in terms of learning PLO. During the last week I really focused on post flop play. I started making adjustments to my cbetting frequency and found I was under cbetting and overfolding on flops when I wasn't the preflop aggressor. You can see some big dips in my redline but here's a graph showing the last week.

Ran pretty poorly in terms of ev but it's such a small sample. This is one or two sessions for most people. As I stated earlier volume wasn't going to be the focus. Most of my sessions were 2 tabling and paying close attention to everything going on.

The other really big step I took was studying on post flop SPR's and when to stack off based on effective stack sizes post based on potential equity in a hand. Didn't run too well at the end but I'm please with my progression.

Here's the overview from all hands/stakes played.

I have a little 100PLO in there. I had a few weekend "fun" sessions where I splash around with a buyin for an hour or two while I watch Twitch or some Netflix and relax.

September Goal

10k hands?

This might be a tough one. For the first few weeks I have a lot of overtime at work and then off for two weeks where I'll be going to Vegas for my brother-in-laws bachelor party. We're only gone for four days so most of that two weeks will be off. May have to paint the house, not sure yet. I know 10k hands is pretty low but I two table for the most part for an hour or two when I play so I may get 400-600 hands in per session. I logged around 45 hours in August with 95 table sessions. Happy with the hours in Aug but I think I can do a little more at the table. We'll see how it goes.

Three days into September and I managed to log winning sessions all three days. Feels pretty good. I've been doing a little work away from the tables on starting hands which I felt really paid off this session. Mostly hand ranges for late position opens and I found I've been missing some opportunities. Part of the learning curve I suppose. Here's today's graph (mostly two tabling).

And some fun hands...
