PLO Bankroll Challenge: 0-000 PLO Bankroll Challenge: 0-000

Hi everyone,

I will be attempting a bankroll challenge with the initial goal of turning $200 into $20000.

I have been playing NLHE recreationally as a break even player for the last two years but recently decided that the only job I would be happy with is a professional poker player. I believed my best bet of doing this is in Omaha since I am a mathematical based player which is more suited to Omaha.

I am in my final year of university and so its really now or never as I know my parents wouldn't be too supportive when I reveal my plans however if I can make 20k this year then that could make them understand a bit more that poker is a genuine way of making a good career.

Before this challenge I spent a couple of months off the tables really trying to understand the game to maximise my chance of success. As much as I don't want to I will begin the challenge on pokerstars zoom just because the games are so soft and despite the huge rake with basically 0 rakeback I believe a good win rate can still be achieved. It also allows me to get in a lot of hands and so getting more practice before I move up.

I am not naïve and obviously understand I am no expert at this game yet so advice on certain hands would be much appreciated.

Hand 3 I like the fold

Hand 4 i’m probably folding to that check/raise for stacks

Hand 5 I like how you played it. You’re very rarely getting it in in horrible shape there

Hi, thanks for your feedback. When i look back on it i totally agree with you the bet call was poor. On a board where he either connects or not at a relatively lowish spr i probably should of bet folded for a small amount around 50%.

Excited about this thread, I finished school and had a job that followed that sucked the life out of me for a year and a half and lost my love for the game. Never had the time or focus to really grind and build a roll. I studied SNG's and won 100 bi's @ micro 6-max hypers now actually looking to transition. Starting to look at PLO as I love the game it's to bad the rake is so heavy so frustrating.... Ive seen threads from pro's proving how possible it is so starting monday i'm gonna do study 80% play 20% worked well for me in SNG's breaking down the rake and how to make as much money as possible without showdown I feel will be key, I will be following!

yes im in a similar position after having a couple of odd jobs I am determined to make poker work. And yes study is key in the early stages until you have a solid game. I'm making more progress then ever now after just small changes but probably more of 80% play 20% study now my games got to a decent level for the current stakes
